Darryl Cooper, the historian deemed by Tucker Carlson to be the “best and most honest” in the U.S., appears to have a strange fondness for Adolf Hitler. Cooper recently joined Carlson on an episode of The Tucker Carlson Show. During their conversation, Cooper claimed that Winston Churchill was the “chief villain” of World War II because he “was primarily responsible for that war becoming what it did.” He also claimed that the Holocaust was some kind of unintended consequence of Germany being “completely unprepared to deal with the millions and millions of prisoners of war.” According to Cooper, millions “ended...

The press is sweeping yet another important ballot integrity case under the rug this week. Understanding the problems in this most recent Pennsylvania ruling requires a little thinking through it. Here’s the short summary, as it is presented by the theoretically nonpartisan mass media: Republican counties want to be able to refuse to count mail-in ballots that either lack the handwritten dates required by law, or have wrong dates shown on them. The Commonwealth Court ruled, and I quote, that “The refusal to count undated or incorrectly dated but timely mail ballots submitted by otherwise eligible voters because of meaningless...

Salt could help to boost the immune defense against cancer. This is suggested by research findings. Recently, adoptive T-cell therapy in particular has developed into an effective treatment tool. In adoptive T-cell therapy, the patient's own immune cells (T cells) are isolated from the blood and modified and multiplied in the laboratory in a therapy-specific manner. They are then reinfused into the patient and destroy tumor cells. The team has now discovered one of these factors: Sodium ions—a component of sodium chloride—increase the efficiency of antitumoral T cells. The researchers were able to show that breast cancer tumors have a...

Pastor Ed Young Jr., the senior pastor of Fellowship Church, a 30,000-member multi-site megachurch spread across Texas and Florida, has released a new video taking a shot at people complaining about the size of megachurches, saying they’re being hypocrites because they don’t say the same thing about attending massive concerts or going to football games. What are his historical acts of theological mischief? Young released a music video featuring him dancing around wearing gold chains, fake tattoos on his arms, neck, knuckles, and under his eye, baggy clothes, and beanie, all the while mimicking pointing to a mouth grill. He...

To the known risk factors for cardiovascular disease—high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, overweight and obesity, smoking, and physical inactivity—a new one has to be added, clonal hematopoiesis. This condition is triggered by acquired mutations in blood stem cells and was already known to be associated with an elevated cardiovascular risk. Now, a new study resolves this by establishing clonal hematopoiesis as a new risk factor for atherosclerosis—the formation of lesions in the arterial wall that underlies most cardiovascular disorders. In a second study, the CNIC scientists propose the ancient medication colchicine as the central plank of personalized strategies to...

In the summer of 2016, Canada legalized euthanasia, also known as a medical assistance in dying (MAID) law. The current policy states only those with “a serious and incurable illness, disease or disability” is eligible to die by assisted suicide. However, by 2027, the country plans to allow people with mental illness to choose death as well. Some groups, such as Death with Dignity, see euthanasia as “a good death.” But a ballot initiative in West Virginia is attempting to keep the practice illegal. Amendment 1 has recently been added to the state’s November ballot with the intention of providing...

Vutrisiran significantly improved mortality, cardiovascular events and markers of disease progression in patients with transthyretin amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), according to late-breaking research. "ATTR is a progressive, fatal disease in which misfolded transthyretin protein accumulates as amyloid deposits in various parts of the body, often damaging the heart. HELIOS-B was a randomized, double-blind trial in patients with ATTR-CM (hereditary or wild-type) who had evidence of cardiac amyloidosis by echocardiography and confirmed ATTR amyloid deposition. Patients were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to vutrisiran 25 mg or placebo administered subcutaneously once every three months for up to 36 months. If the...

Scientists have created a first-of-its-kind sleep apnea model for studying chronic pain. A study explains the mechanism behind persistent pain related to obstructive sleep apnea. More than 100 million people worldwide are affected by obstructive sleep apnea. This health condition causes a person to stop breathing numerous times while they are sleeping. Reduced sleep time and sleep quality can lead to numerous health problems, including chronic pain, which is diagnosed at a much higher rate in people with obstructive sleep apnea than those with normal sleep patterns. Nathaniel Jeske, Ph.D., investigator: "We are looking at maladaptive neuroplasticity in these primary...

For more than two decades, Democrats have watched with frustration as tax policy in the United States has settled into a pattern, one that Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, calls the “tax doom loop.” It goes like this: Republicans pass huge tax cuts that are, at first, only temporary. By the time the tax cuts are set to end, Americans have become used to owing less to the government. Hesitant to raise taxes, Democrats join with Republicans to continue many of the cuts indefinitely. To liberals, this cycle is to blame for a range of social and economic ills....

The largest dam removal project in US history is finally complete, after crews last week demolished the last of the four dams on the Klamath River. It’s a significant win for tribal nations on the Oregon-California border who for decades have fought to restore the river back to its natural state. The removal of the four hydroelectric dams — Iron Gate Dam, Copco Dams 1 and 2, and JC Boyle Dam — allows the region’s iconic salmon population to swim freely along the Klamath River and its tributaries, which the species have not been able to do for over a...

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The commander of a Navy destroyer that’s helping protect the San Diego-based aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt in the Middle East has been relieved of duty about four months after he was seen in a photo firing a rifle with a scope mounted backward. The image brought the Navy considerable ridicule on social media. The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that Cameron Yaste, commanding officer of the destroyer USS John McCain, was removed on Friday. The Navy said Yaste was relieved of duty “due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command the guided-missile destroyer”...

A U.S. District Judge ruled Friday that Illinois’ ban prohibiting concealed carry for self-defense on public transportation violates the Second Amendment. The judge, Ian D. Johnston, issued his opinion in Schoenthal v. Raoul. The plaintiffs in the case, Benjamin Schoenthal, Mark Wroblewski, Joseph Vesel, and Douglas Winston, all claimed the ban violated the Second Amendment. Schoenthal, Wrogblewski, Vesel, and Winston’s case was supported by the Second Amendment Foundation and the Firearms Policy Coalition. Judge Johnston noted: In Illinois, openly carrying firearms is unlawful. Under the Firearm Concealed Carry Act, an individual with a concealed-carry license may generally carry a concealed...

The attempt was made at a political rally. The target was a candidate for president that many in the Media called a threat to democracy and likened to Hitler. President Biden had previously called for targeting Trump. The shooter conducted over 60 internet searches related to Donald Trump, Joe Biden and various political events in the 30 days leading up to the rally. However, after what they contend was an "exhaustive examination of the evidence" from the event, the one thing of which the FBI says it is sure is that "the motive was not political." Perhaps the FBI's reputation...

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton threatened two of the state’s most populous — and Democratic-leaning — urban counties with lawsuits over their plans to register voters by mail. Paxton wrote letters Monday to Harris and Bexar counties, claiming their mailing of voter registration forms would either “confuse” noncitizens about their eligibility to vote, or “induce” them to fraudulently register. “Either way, it is illegal, and if you move forward with this proposal, I will use all available legal means to stop you,” Paxton wrote. The attorney general pointed to his 2020 suit against a similar effort to send out vote-by-mail...

The good news is that Boeing was able to update the automated flight software on its troubled Starliner space capsule, allowing NASA to return it unmanned to Earth no sooner than Friday. The bad news — or at least the serious question — is whether Starliner will ever fly again. NASA decided last week not to fly astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams home on board the same ship they flew to ISS on due to safety concerns about the service module's malfunctioning thrusters. While an astronaut is sometimes scheduled in advance to return to Earth on board a different...
