Talk about a lot of build-up for almost no reason whatsoever! But that doesn't mean that last night's CNN fluffery didn't reveal something key to this election. ... Republicans may not like all of Trump's policy impulses, and may like some of his other impulses even less. But what they like about Trump is that he fights. It may get him into trouble, like at the NABJ for a mild example, and it creates message discipline issues that become opportunity costs. But he fights, and for Republicans and other voters who are tired of getting steamrolled by the Left, that's...

New polling showed Vice President Kamala Harris with a widening margin over former President Donald Trump in a Reuters/Ipsos poll published Thursday. It found Harris leads Trump 45% to 41%. Among registered voters, the 4 percentage-point lead was more significant than the 1-point lead Harris had over Trump in the outfit’s last poll in July. The poll had a 2% margin of error. Over in polling guru Nate Sliver’s latest models, Harris didn’t fare as well. “Although we wouldn’t advise worrying too much about the difference between a 52/48 race one way versus a 48/52 race the other way —...

If you’ve never heard of her, self-proclaimed “Prophetess” Katie Souza is the ringleader of her own spiritual sideshow, where she’s carved out a niche in the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR). The NAR is a movement that has nothing to do with the gospel and is more about shameless self-promotion. Souza’s specialty? Selling ridiculous claims with the confidence of a snake oil salesman. Need a miracle? She’s got you covered—just tune in to her wild tales of battling demonic spirits in the form of the Loch Ness Monster. Yes, the same mythical creature that doesn’t even make the cut in a...

RFK Jr. said during a Friday episode of the All In podcast that Trump will not implement the Project 2025 agenda and is instead more focused on his legacy. “If President Trump wins, that people are going to see a very different President Trump than they did in the first term. I think he’s changed as a person. And I’ve known him for, you know, 30 years,” Kennedy said. “But I think he is, he’s focused on his legacy.” Project 2025 was organized by Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, along with a group of former Trump White House...

Harris's interview left more questions than answersIt was, Dana Bash said on CNN at 9 p.m. Thursday, "a watershed moment." Not just a watershed—"a defining moment." Why the fuss? Kamala Harris was giving an interview.Think about that. Somehow, in the whirlwind of campaign 2024, we have reached the point where it's news that the Democratic nominee for president of the United States of America will answer questions from the press. Until now, if you've been interested in Harris's views, you've had to rely, with one or two exceptions, on the Harris whisperers—the unnamed aides quoted in mainstream media disavowing the...

I have a question for other users of VOIP. Over the last couple of years, we've encountered several businesses/services that will not approve us or accept our orders because we use VOIP for our phone system. We've used it for ten years, but this problem has only shown up in the last 2 years. (We don't do any business at all on our cell phones; in our situation, they are mainly for emergencies. But some places don't accept those numbers either, because they are TracFones, and not some major telecom provider.) Has anyone else encountered this? Our phones work fine...

After an intense academic year marked by pro-Palestinian protests, complaints about antisemitism on campus and heated debates over the lines between free speech and student safety, colleges and universities are returning this fall with a panoply of new policies. Some schools have banned encampments entirely, while others are restricting the time, duration, location and amplification of protests. Activists who wear masks may be required to produce identification. Other campuses have new codes of conduct relating to the use of the word “Zionist” or expanded punishments for those who violate existing standards. Columbia, Harvard, UPenn and the University of California, Berkeley,...

A newsstand vendor was robbed twice in recent months — including once by a pair of crooks who pistol-whipped him — after he set up shop on the Upper West Side in a bid to escape crime. Shah Hossain, 46, said he remains shaken by a brazen broad-daylight robbery Monday in which two gun-toting bandits clobbered him to the ground and snatched $3,000 from his newsstand along Columbus Avenue and West 81st Street. He suspects the bandits were the same duo who robbed him back in the spring. “I am watching people from all sides now,” he told The Post...

Nationally recognized conservative commentator Michael Medved says he will likely vote for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in November. Appearing KIRO Newsradio, Medved said, when asked if he would vote for Harris, “I’m sort of reluctant to say it, but it’s obvious that that unless something comes out in the campaign that is very different from what was presented last night, I think that’s the right decision.” Medved said that although the Democratic National Convention (DNC) wasn’t perfect, it was a home run. “I think this was an epically well-arranged, well-presented convention because part of what they’re doing is trying...

Day #12 of the Top 50 songs on my iTunes playlist -- ranked in reverse order by play frequency from #50 to #1 and presented here on a series of FR threads. I'm posting them here on a new thread that compiles the growing list one day at a time over the next couple of months. I only post them on weekdays and may miss a day or two here and there, so it will take at least ten weeks to do this. And to show my gratitude to the FR management for giving us all a forum to post...

Democrat Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has denied that migrant gangs have taken over apartment buildings in Aurora - despite video evidence and a local leader's outcry. The heavily-armed mob was seen on video storming through an apartment complex while brandishing at least one semi-automatic weapon. A man in a hoodie lugs the high-powered rifle and pounds on an apartment door, while several others wield handguns. 'A GANG HAS TAKEN OVER several apartment complexes in Aurora!' local council member Danielle Jurinsky wrote on X. But Polis said the migrant takeover is just a figment of her 'imagination.' 'The governor ha already...

A Texas state representative in Houston has decided to leave the “almost unrecognizable” Democrat Party for the Republican Party. In her announcement on Friday, State Rep. Shawn Thierry explained she made the switch because the Democrat Party “has veered so far left, so deep into the progressive abyss, that it now champions policies that I cannot, in good conscience, support,” the Texas Tribune reported. In a social media post, Thierry said she had voted Democrat her entire life because her parents believed it was the “party of the people.” “But as the years have passed, I have watched with dismay...

NASA on Friday cut two astronauts from the next crew to make room on the return trip for the two stuck at the International Space Station. NASA’s Nick Hague and Russian Aleksandr Gorbunov will launch in September aboard a SpaceX rocket for the orbiting laboratory. The duo will return with Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore in February. NASA decided it’s too risky for Williams and Wilmore to fly home in their Boeing Starliner capsule, marred by thruster troubles and helium leaks. Bumped from the SpaceX flight: NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Stephanie Wilson. NASA said they could fly on future...

Explanation: The Moon's south pole is toward the top left of this detailed telescopic moonscape. Captured on August 23, it looks across the rugged southern lunar highlands. The view's foreshortened perspective heightens the impression of a dense field of craters and makes the craters themselves appear more oval shaped close to the lunar limb. Prominent near center is 114 kilometer diameter crater Moretus. Moretus is young for a large lunar crater and features terraced inner walls and a 2.1 kilometer high, central peak, similar in appearance to the more northerly young crater Tycho. Mountains visible along the lunar limb at...
