...The decoration and texts of this sarcophagus demonstrated that it had been used twice, the second time by a high priest of the XXI dynasty, Menkheperre (around 1000 BC). Its first owner, however, remained a mystery, although the quality of the object indicated that it belonged to a very high-ranking figure in the Egyptian New Kingdom. By examining the newly engraved hieroglyphic texts, Frédéric Payraudeau was able to establish that they contained the cartouche of Ramesses II himself.Until now, we knew that the tomb of this pharaoh in the Valley of the Kings (Luxor) had been completely looted and his...

Former President Donald Trump is laying out a revenge plan to get back at the Democratic Party after they have politically punished him since his first day of office in 2016. And he needs all of you to show up to the polls in November to achieve it. Trump said that his revenge would be “success” on November 5 and taking back the White House. “These are bad people. These people are sick, and they do things that are so destructive… if it weren't me, they'd be going after somebody else, and I know a lot of the competition. They...

The Trump verdict last Thursday overshadowed a far more disturbing portent for New York: yet another daytime attack in the heart of Times Square, the second in a month, this time a machete assault outside a McDonald’s at 45th and Broadway. New York’s failure to control crime — regular crime, not Trump crime — is slowing its tourism recovery, as new statistics from Broadway’s theater industry show. Like New York overall, Broadway is having a slow rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic.

One pilot was killed and another injured after two small planes collided midair during an air show performance in southern Portugal today. The accident occurred above an air base in Beja, located about 180 km south of Lisbon, on Sunday as six aircraft belonging to an aerobatic group called the 'Yak Stars' were performing. One plane collided into another and then exploded into flames, killing its Spanish pilot, the Portuguese Air Force (PAF) said. The second involved in the accident managed to land on the airport tarmac, with no victims among the spectators, the air force said. After the accident,...

A masked maniac tried to disrupt Sunday’s Israel Day Parade, taunting marchers and supports with a vile sign reading, “Kill Hostages Now.” The protester, wearing a black mask, black shirt and wearing a Palestinian flag as a cape, was part of a group of anti-Israel demonstrators who faced off with pro-Israeli New Yorkers near the parade route. This year’s Israel Day Parade in New York features numerous family members of hostages who were kidnapped by Hamas and taken to Gaza on Oct. 7.

Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) said on this week’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Saturday Show” that Republican men and women didn’t have “the courage or the patriotism to stand up for democracy.” Host Jonathan Capehart said, “I’m starting with you, because you predicted years ago, you said I’m counting on Stormy. Your reaction to Thursday’s incredible verdict?” Waters said, “It’s a sad day. I’m still shocked and amazed that his supporters would follow him with the lies and the distortions that he continues to give to the American people. He says it is rigged. He says, if they can do this...

A molecular biologist says she was prevented from buying the Virginia Beach condo of her dreams after the white owner learned that she was black, it is alleged. Dr. Raven Baxter, 30, was prepared to buy the home after a virtual tour of the property. It had everything she wanted: a private foyer, wainscoting, exquisite crown molding, and a marble fireplace. Baxter offered the asking price, $749,000, which was promptly accepted by the seller. The molecular biologist, who works remotely for Mt. Sinai hospital, then sent over a down payment and the condo went into escrow. But then she received...

As Ukraine prepares to mobilize tens of thousands of men to address a critical shortage of soldiers amid intensified Russian attacks, Ukrainian commanders in the field say they are bracing for most of the new troops to arrive with poor training. Ukrainian commanders have long griped about lackluster preparation for recruits at training centers. But with Russia on the offensive, the persistent complaints are a reminder that a newly adopted mobilization law intended to widen the pool of draft-eligible men is just one step in solving the military’s personnel problems. An influx of conscripts under the new law is still...

Kazuhiro Haraguchi, the former Japanese Minister for Internal Affairs, has become the first major politician to apologize to the unvaccinated for the tsunami of deaths occuring among the vaccinated population. During an opening speech at the protests, Haraguchi delivered a powerful and emotional apology for the huge numbers of deaths now occurring as a result of the deadly mRNA roll-out. Haraguchi began by...

Looking out of his window at Cape Town's False Bay, Nick Searra acknowledges that things do work better in South Africa's second biggest city, a stronghold of the opposition Democratic Alliance (DA). But that doesn't mean he is ready to see the party or its 48-year-old leader John Steenhuisen running the rest of the country. "Imagine an old white man as the president of South Africa," said Searra, a 44-year-old white Johannesburg native who moved to Cape Town in 2022. In a seismic shift, voters this week dismantled the majority which the African National Congress (ANC) has held since the...

A fight broke out late one Saturday night, or, more accurately, early Sunday morning, at a bar on Chicago’s South Side. Someone called the police just after 4:30 AM. But the police didn’t come. The fight soon moved outside; one man issued a threat, got into his car, and then plowed it into the crowd, just before five o’clock. Three people were killed. Still no police. An officer wasn’t dispatched until 5:20 and didn’t arrive until more than an hour after the original call. Chicago faces a dire police shortage. (See “Can We Get Back to Tougher Policing?,”) Over half...

Explanation: No one, presently, sees the Moon rotate like this. That's because the Earth's moon is tidally locked to the Earth, showing us only one side. Given modern digital technology, however, combined with many detailed images returned by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), a high resolution virtual Moon rotation movie has been composed. The featured time-lapse video starts with the standard Earth view of the Moon. Quickly, though, Mare Orientale, a large crater with a dark center that is difficult to see from the Earth, rotates into view just below the equator. From an entire lunar month condensed into 24...

I hadn't intended to write about war songs this week. But I was struck by some of the responses to yesterday's D-Day special, and, as always, impressed by the resilience of the accompanying music. It's eighty years since June 6th 1944, four score and six since the first troops shipped out, and yet that sound remains unmistakeable. For those who were there, a few bars of "White Cliffs of Dover" will always mean a crowded railway platform in East Anglia as the troop train pulls out, and a snatch of "Maybe It's Because I'm a Londoner" will always evoke the...

Was this a Sunday morning political talk show—or thMichael Beschloss MSNBC The Weekend 6-2-24e trailer for Mad Max: America? Appearing on MSNBC's The Weekend, leftist NBC historian Michael Beschloss painted a picture of what America would be if Trump won the presidency that was so apocalyptic, Mel Gibson might reject the script as too over the top. [snip] Beschloss promptly turned the panic meter up to 11. He described a desolate American landscape in which Trump would be a dictator not just for a day, but perhaps for "the rest of our lifetimes." A wrecking of the rule of law...

Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Sunday said that “every American should accept the results” of the upcoming presidential election, as some Republicans repeatedly refuse to say whether they’ll accept the results, regardless of who wins. Speaking to CNN’s “Inside Politics,” McCarthy also blasted Democrats for challenging “every single Republican elected president since George Bush,” specifically blaming Maryland Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin for saying that “Trump should be impeached before he was even sworn in.” “This is a question that’s for the whole American public. We’ve gotta get beyond it,” McCarthy added.

1. Unconstitutional Gag Order that prevented President Trump from criticizing the trial, exposing the many conflicts that should have forced the judge to recuse himself, and the railroading of his fundamental due process rights. 2. Judge Merchan’s many, many conflicts of interests – all of which were disqualifying. His daughter, Loren Merchan, is President of Authentic Campaigns, a political consulting firm that hires the likes of the Biden-Harris Campaign, Adam Schiff, Ilhan Omar, and many other far left Democratic lawmakers. Loren’s firm has made tens of millions off these clients – Juan Merchan, through his daughter, had a direct financial...
