Bolhuis is an economist in the Macro Policy division of the International Monetary Fund’s Strategy, Policy, and Review...

A hundred minutes into writer, director Alex Garland’s Civil War, I was hit with a wild case of déjà vu. Since the movie wasn’t engaging, I had plenty of head space to explore this feeling. What is this? Where is this déjà vu coming from? Maybe it has nothing to do with the movie. Maybe this is how everyone feels after eating a bag of licorice purchased at Big Lots? Then it hit me. This is the stupidest movie I’ve ever seen. I mean, Civil War is dumb—as in first-draft dumb. Garland directed exactly one good movie — Ex Machina...

Independent Presidential Candidate Robert Kennedy, Jr. described his recent interview with CNN host Erin Burnet when he famously explained how Joe Biden is more of a threat to democracy than Donald Trump. Via Vigilant Fox. Robert Kennedy, Jr.: “She asked me, “Don’t I think Trump is very dangerous for the republica?” And I said to her, I can make an argument that President Biden is even more dangerous to the republic. And she had this kind of astonished look — where her brain stopped working. And I said the reason for that, that I would say that, is because President...

His partner, Sylvie Brosseau, says without having access to a...

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments this month in Grants Pass v. Johnson, which focuses on whether a local government can make it a crime to live outside when adequate shelter is not available. This case has resulted in an inaccurate and harmful framing of homelessness by suggesting that there are only two potential outcomes: Either arrest those who are unhoused or homelessness will become an inevitable and permanent fixture of the urban landscape. But there is a third path: providing subsidized housing with services to people experiencing homelessness. Too often, policymakers ignore the obvious solution to homelessness —...

Senate candidate Kari Lake has made calls to state lawmakers to push for the repeal of Arizona's Civil War-era abortion ban, according to a Republican legislator who spoke about receiving a call from her. The Arizona House convenes again Wednesday. Lake's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday evening on her lobbying of state lawmakers. Lake, who has said she opposes the court's ruling, is among the many Arizona Republicans who...

Following Google’s anti-white Gemini debacle, no one in their right minds needs convincing of their discriminatory practices anymore. Still, it’s appropriate to document another example of anti-white bias at Google. It’s almost unfortunate that Google makes some good products. It instigates a form of cognitive dissonance because they are so woke -- and sometimes worthy of boycott. The latest example being their new AI photo editing tools available to Google Photos users. Or is it more sinister than simply being woke? On the high-profile webpage touting the Photos enhancements are several images showing before and after shots. What they don’t...

--SNIP-- Increased patrols are visible on the Mexican side of the border wall both in urban, congested areas of Tijuana, and inland, amid the scrub and boulders of Ejido Jacumé. When officers on the Baja California side come across migrants, they take them into custody, referring to the apprehensions as “rescues.” But whereas on the US California side, the travelers are willing, even happy, to run toward border agents – often so they can start asylum proceedings – here it is a different story.

"Same-day voter registration allows people to cast votes with verification of their eligibility after an election. This post-verification system makes same-day registration vulnerable to being used to cast fraudulent votes," said Lauren Bowman Bis. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) filed a complaint on Monday against the Green Bay city clerk to the Wisconsin Elections Commission for not following state law to verify same-day voter registrations. Same-day voter registration, which is when people can register to vote and cast a ballot at the same time, is a practice that both PILF and the Honest Elections Project warn may let...
