Democrats in New Mexico’s House of Representatives are weighing an “assault weapons” ban and two-week waiting period on gun purchases, along with other requirements that closely mirror controls that have been in place in California for years. On January 13, 2024, Breitbart News reported that New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) was pushing the two week waiting period and other controls, including the ability for New Mexicans to sue gun manufacturers. Grisham also wanted an expansion of gun-free zones in which even licensed concealed carriers would be prohibited from being armed for self-defense.

Last week I wrote a blog on an “explosive” audio recording that featured Jeff DeWit, the chair of the Arizona Republican Party (before he promptly resigned in disgrace), attempting to bribe Kari Lake out of the senate race with a cushy corporate position and money from shadowy figures somewhere on the east coast—the revelation was only “explosive” to some because, for those of us who’ve had firsthand experience dealing with the AZGOP, it really was not surprising at all.The chair of the state party leading the charge to derail the America First (and Arizona first) movement? This is nothing out...

Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) is under criminal investigation by the Department of Justice, according to Punchbowl News’ Jake Sherman. Per Sherman, the DOJ has issued a subpoena to the House of Representatives Sergeant at Arms “for records relating to the misspending of federal security money.” Bush, a progressive firebrand, was first elected to the House in 2020. After taking office in 2021, Bush was pressed on the tension between her support for defunding the police and her campaign’s profligate spending on security. “You faced some criticism in recent weeks over your push to defund the police. Campaign records show that...

Without Texas, the United States would not be able to wage war, lacking the energy to fuel its tanks. Yesterday, we noted a hawkish Joe Scarborough calling for an aggressive response against Iran for the drone attack that killed three US soldiers and killed dozens of others in Jordan. Jen Palmieri, Obama's former Communications Director and another Morning Joe regular gave away the game, putting things in bald political terms. Scarborough asked, "What's the administration's problem with going in and taking out some of their oil infrastructure?"Responded Palmieri: "Higher gas prices."Scarborough: "I don't care. Dead Americans." Palmieri: "Anytime you're doing anything that's going to mess with oil markets, higher gas prices are -- can be an existential threat to...

Prepare for nature’s grand spectacle as a potent cyclone, fueled by an intense atmospheric river, takes aim at the West Coast. While not reaching the legendary ARkStorm 1000 status, this system promises significant impacts, with the next few days poised to be the most intense. Intriguingly, snowflakes dance over the ocean as cold Alaskan air journeys south, setting the stage for a mountain snow extravaganza in the Western U.S. Snow accumulations measured by the feet, hurricane-force wind gusts, and the formation of a cyclonic structure reminiscent of tropical storms—all elements contributing to this atmospheric symphony.

en. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) called on President Biden to keep a Missouri aluminum plant open, after it was reported that its operation would be curtailed by Jan. 28. Hawley issued a statement on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday after reports that Magnitude 7 Metals, the second-largest U.S. aluminum smelter, is going to lay off most of its staff. “This cannot be allowed to happen,” Hawley wrote Thursday. “The plant accounts for nearly 30% of the nation’s aluminum. It’s vital to national security. President Biden must invoke the Defense Production Act and keep it open.” Hawley referenced...

The moment when the UK formally recognises a Palestinian state at the end of Israel’s war with Hamas might be drawing nearer, the Foreign Secretary David Cameron suggested Monday. The diplomatic initiative would come despite the fact doing so would reward Hamas for the terror attack of October 7 and defy Israel’s opposition to any such move. Cameron, speaking ahead of his fourth visit to the region since being appointed Britain’s top diplomat in November, claimed Palestinians had to be given a political horizon to encourage peace in the Middle East.

Assistant Registrar of Voters Joanna Francescut says new elections security measures were funded largely to prepare for the county’s previous plan to hand count the vote. A new state law now makes a manual tally of Shasta County’s votes illegal. Since the last general election, the Shasta County Elections Office has implemented new security measures, including a tall wrought-iron fence at the Elections Office. Assistant County Clerk and Registrar of Voters Joanna Francescut explains what new security measures are in place, how they were funded, and why they were needed. Her responses have been shortened and paraphrased. Scout: There are...

Ukraine hosts one of the most corrupt governments in the world. The West and NATO have provided Ukraine with billions in funding but have been unable to track where the money is spent. They do not investigate where the money is spent because they also lack ethics and are only concerned that the war wages on. It comes as no surprise that Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has uncovered a major arms corruption scheme. An arms dealer by the name of Lviv Arsenal and five senior members of the defense ministry are being questioned for a secret deal worth around...

In a controversial and heart-wrenching case, Montana’s Child Protective Services has been accused of forcibly transporting a 14-year-old girl from her family in Montana to Wyoming for gender transition treatment, leading to a complete revocation of her parents’ custody. The family’s media representative, Mattie Watkins, has disclosed a distressing account to The Gateway Pundit involving the Kolstad family of Montana. Todd and Krista Kolstad have been embroiled in a legal and emotional struggle for their 14-year-old daughter after Montana CPS took drastic action that is tantamount to “kidnapping.” In April 2023, the Montana legislature passed State Bill 99, which banned...

United Parcel Service said Tuesday that it plans to cut about 12,000 jobs this year, a move that the package-delivery giant said would result in $1 billion in savings. Most of the cuts will be to full-time and part-time management positions and contract workers, and executives said they don’t expect these jobs to return when parcel volumes return. UPS has around 85,000 workers in management. [Snip] The job cuts were unveiled after the company said its revenue declined in the last quarter of 2023 as volumes in both its domestic and international businesses dropped.
