Joe Biden, who has often been hailed by the Left as a decent, compassionate person, was at the beach in Delaware on Sunday when asked about the enormous tragedy in Maui, where the deadliest wildfire in the U.S. in the last 100 years has now claimed at least 96 lives and possibly more. According to Democrat Hawaii Governor Josh Green, the damage from the fires that utterly ravaged the historic town of Lahaina could amount to $6 billion. The compassionate response from the president as he was leaving the beach? “No comment.” Biden is the same man who bragged on...

The current issue of Wired magazine carries an interview with our wonderboy secretary of transportation, Pete Buttigieg. And here’s the long introduction to the Q & A portion, and by god this should be read aloud at cocktail parties for the rest of the year as it is comedy gold: THE CURIOUS MIND of Pete Buttigieg holds much of its functionality in reserve. Even as he discusses railroads and airlines, down to the pointillist data that is his current stock-in-trade, the US secretary of transportation comes off like a Mensa black card holder who might have a secret Go habit...

We know people are smoking crack at the White House — but now we have to wonder, is someone smoking crack at the Blaine House too? What else would explain Gov. Janet Mills’ announcement on August 2nd that she wants to encourage 75,000 MORE immigrants to settle here over the next five years? That’s more than the total population of Portland — by far Maine’s largest city. Anyone who’s not delusional or malevolent or stoned understands that Maine is in the grip of an unprecedented demographic and humanitarian crisis. The question before us is this: Which of the adjectives above...

Ateba has been at the center of tense situations within the briefing room. Today News Africa's White House correspondent Simon Ateba has filed a lawsuit against White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and the Secret Service alleging his credentials were illegally revoked. The lawsuit was filed last week on behalf of Ateba by the Center for American Liberty, a nonprofit founded by lawyer and Republican Party official Harmeet Dhillon. The complaint argues the White House adopted stringent criteria for press credentials in May 2023, violating Ateba's First Amendment rights by excluding him from briefings without a compelling reason. In addition,...

Trump says DeSantis had a 'small crowd' at the State Fair.Donald Trump went to Iowa just like many other GOP presidential candidates this weekend, and as has been the case for months, Ron DeSantis has been a topic of conversation.“He had a very small crowd. He only had a few people show up. It’s a big difference,” Trump told reporters at the Iowa State Fair, as he offered a comparison of the crowd he drew versus that drawn earlier by the Florida Governor when asked if he had a message for DeSantis.During remarks to the crowd in Steer and Stein,...

CHICAGO — A North Side community group is calling for people to refrain from shooting guns in Chicago between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. to reduce the risk to people “not involved in high risk activities.” The proposal from Rogers Park-based Native Sons, known as “The People’s Ordinance,” was recently promoted in an email newsletter by Ald. Maria Hadden (49th). Shootings are up significantly this year in Rogers Park. Chicago police believe a reignited gang war between local Gangster Disciples and Black P Stones in Uptown is to blame.

A group of “up to 30” teens poured into a Nordstrom’s store in Topanga, Calif., in a “smash and grab” looting that went off with military precision. Note the eerie silence. These aren’t young people on a lark looting a store for fun or because “raaaaaacism.” It’s certainly not some last minute social media happening. This is an organized gang of thieves carrying out a well-planned criminal operation. That’s not the only outrageous act of anarchy that happened in California last week. A flash mob comprised of dozens of thieves hit the Yves Saint Laurent at The Americana at Brand...

Justice Shrugged: The Persecution of Donald Trump COMMENTARY By Frank MieleAugust 14, 2023 Justice Shrugged: The Persecution of Donald TrumpAP Here’s what I dream of Donald Trump saying when he stands trial on bogus charges proffered by his political opponents: “I do not recognize this court’s right to try me … I do not recognize my action as a crime.” Those are the fighting words of industrialist Hank Rearden when he was put on trial for ignoring an unjust law in Ayn Rand’s novel “Atlas Shrugged.” Although the circumstances of the cases differ, Rearden is a perfect avatar of Donald...

On Aug. 14, 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Social Security into law. Eighty-eight years later, our Social Security system is among the most successful and popular government programs in history. Nearly every worker pays premiums (Federal Insurance Contributions or FICA) for Social Security. In return, they receive insurance benefits when they retire, become disabled, or lose a family breadwinner. Social Security is secure, efficient, and the most important source of retirement income for the vast majority of Americans. Social Security does have one major flaw, though: Its benefits are too low. The average Social Security benefit is only $1,700...
