The efforts of parents and Nashville community members to stop the release of Covenant School shooter Audrey Hale’s writings, if successful, would be an unprecedented move that could have bigger implications going forward, an open-government expert told The Post. Tennessee’s victims’ rights statute does not give individuals a “carte blanche” to veto other laws, such as the one that allows people the right to public records, said Deborah Fisher, executive director of the Tennessee Coalition for Open Government. “There’s nothing really to indicate that there would be this ability for victims to veto the release of otherwise public records and...

Maternal labor epidural analgesia (LEA) was associated with an increased risk for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) among offspring, according to a study. Chunyuan Qiu, M.D. and colleagues examined the independent associations of LEA and oxytocin during labor and delivery with ASD using data from 205,994 singleton births with vaginal deliveries in a single integrated health care system from 2008 to 2017. Children were followed through Dec. 31, 2021. Within the cohort, 153,880 and 117,808 children (74.7 and 57.2 percent, respectively) were exposed to maternal LEA and to oxytocin during labor and delivery. The researchers found that during follow-up, 5,146 (2.5...

A Notting Hill restaurant has come under fire after the boss posted a photo of his team of all white-male chefs, with criticism at the ‘totally unrepresentative’ line-up. Thomas Straker, alongside seven other chefs, posed for a photo which is distinctly missing any women or ethnic minority kitchen staff. The Instagram post captioned ‘Chef team assembled’, quickly gathered a flurry of outraged comments about the lack of diversity in the team. Straker, who boasts an impressive social media following with 2.1million on TikTok and 1.4million on Instagram, had public opinion online quickly sour on him. Critics said that the line-up...

Researchers have identified a microbial signature for autism spectrum disorder, a critical finding that offers clarity about how the gut microbiome influences this neurological syndrome. The data-driven study published by 43 researchers challenges the idea that autism is a primarily genetic condition and suggests that environmental factors may be behind the sharp rise in the debilitating condition. The trillions of microbes (bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microorganisms) that populate the gut microbiome are the basis of that microbial signature. Other research has found that having more microbes and greater diversity is associated with health and lower disease risk. Among other tasks, gut...

This week, a diplomat at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato), the collective defence alliance between Europe and North America, hinted the organisation will raise its engagement with Africa, ostensibly to ward off the growing influence on the continent of China and Russia. Russia through the controversial paramilitary company Wagner Group — is now operating in various African states. The idea is to foster improved bilateral relations on security, anti-terrorism efforts and in other fields of cooperation, all in a “pivot to Africa.”On Wednesday, Julianne Smith, US Permanent Representative to Nato, told an African media briefing that the defence alliance...

There is a huge generational divide in America on the issue of climate change. The overly woke, excessively propagandized youth are scared to death, most people are somewhat concerned and skeptical of the most apocalyptic predictions, and then there are those of us who have rightly concluded that modern environmentalism is like a watermelon: green on the outside, but red on the inside. It is just another attempt to sneak in communism, just as the “Inflation Reduction Act” was really the Green New Deal. The new head of the IPCC is a global warming alarmist, but even he has realized that the...

Fitch downgraded its credit rating for the U.S. government, from AAA to AA+, two months after the debt-ceiling crisis was resolved. “In Fitch’s view, there has been a steady deterioration in standards of governance over the last 20 years, including on fiscal and debt matters," the rating agency said Tuesday. Fitch said the U.S. appeared to suffer from an “erosion of governance," pointing to the Washington brinkmanship over the debt ceiling as an example. With a rating of AA+, the U.S. still holds among the highest possible ratings, which Fitch saying the nation still benefits from a “large, advanced, well-diversified...

The Supreme Court’s decision to prohibit affirmative action has the racists who run our university in a pickle. They want to discriminate based on race, but they are legally limited by the decision in the ways that they can pretend not to be.Columbia University Law School came up with a clever plan: ask students to send in a video of them talking for no more than 90 seconds. Ostensibly the goal was to show how the student comes across. What are they like?Except, well, 90 seconds. Not exactly a lot of personal data can be gleaned from 90 seconds of a...

You may have seen pictures or video of a very large group of illegal aliens outside the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan. Some were trying to push their way into the hotel, some decided to camp-out on the sidewalk outside. It wasn’t a good look. LeBron James, one of the great moral frauds of sports, has been riding on his reputation as a man of and for the streets for years now.James has a net worth somewhere around a billion dollars–billion with a ‘B’–but with his carefully cultivated reputation, he has managed to become a symbol of Black empowerment and even a disciple of Malcolm X.Now I don’t want to imply I think he is a grifter. He isn’t. He became as wealthy as he is through sheer grit and talent. I can’t judge whether he “deserves” to be a billionaire–nobody “deserves” a billion dollars–he...

Can we please call a moving van and a fumigator to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and – when the poison clears – can we have the house cleaned by a religious team? Rabbi, priest, imam – whoever and whatever it takes to get a ritual cleansing for the ages done of the White House, and remove the scum that has to be clinging to the walls with every breath Joe Biden takes in that hallowed place. You knew it was real, and I knew it was real. But in your heart of hearts, the things written in what was purported to be...

It seems the climate change hysteria crowd is having trouble convincing people that we are all going to die in a gargantuan fireball if we don’t start driving electric vehicles and eating crickets. To remedy this issue, some progressive senators have concocted a novel idea: Throw people in prison for arguing against left-wing ideas on climate change.Sure, it’s a bit authoritarian, but it would be effective, wouldn’t it?Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders led a gaggle of fellow lawmakers in writing a letter to the Justice Department demanding that it prosecute people in the fossil fuel industry for saying things about climate...

Once again, the political world has been engulfed by another indictment of Donald Trump, this time surrounding his alleged actions involving January 6th.The details include four different counts, including two counts of conspiracy and two counts of obstruction. Those four counts break down specifically to Trump allegedly attempting to obstruct an official proceeding, which has to do with January 6th, while the conspiracy charges appear to center on the supposed alternate electors scheme.Obviously, arguments about selective prosecution and weaponization of the DOJ will be at the forefront for political circles, but even on legal grounds, this indictment appears to be...

People around the world may fear the gray hairs, crows feet, and stagnation that come with a midlife crisis. But over in China, millennials fear hitting an age milestone now thought to be a death sentence for one's career: 35. These anxieties have been summed up in the phrase "Curse of 35," a concept and hashtag that's gone viral on China's Twitter-like Weibo. It refers, specifically, to the average Chinese employer's preference for hiring workers who haven't reached the sell-by date of their 35th birthday. "I am scared that I won't be able to keep my job, and then I...

I feel like I’ve said this a lot lately, but Joe Biden has a lot of gall.I think there’s no question about it. He’s done such a horrible job on the economy, driving us into record inflation spurred on by reckless spending. But then he tries to take “credit” for all kinds of things he had nothing to do with or that aren’t true. He tries to label his failures a success, even calling the mess he’s put forth “Bidenomics” (as though that were something of which to be proud). But there’s only so much you can spin, and there’s no...

Authorities have charged a former Boston Public Schools principal with one count of wire fraud for allegedly misusing nearly $40,000 in public money on things like all-inclusive personal vacations. Mattapan resident Naia Wilson, 60, served as the head of school at Hyde Park‘s New Mission High School, an autonomous pilot school within Boston Public Schools, from 2006 to 2019, the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts said in a press release Tuesday. Between September 2016 and May 2019, Wilson requested checks from the school’s account that were listed as being for other people, the release said. She then allegedly fraudulently endorsed those...

U.S. District Judge is set to oversee former President Trump's case involving his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The big picture: Chutkan has previously dealt with Trump, denying his 2021 motion to halt records from being turned over to the Jan. 6 committee, writing, "Presidents are not kings, and Plaintiff is not president." Snip Former President Obama appointed Chutkan to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in 2014.

Yellow Freight, a massive, almost century-old LTL carrier, has gone out of business, and the “spin” of the business world will likely rival the spin of the political world in covering this news. First, some background. LTL refers to “less than truckload freight,” so an LTL carrier is one that picks up relatively small loads, usually 1 to 5 pallets’ worth, and consolidates them at terminals with other such freight with similar destinations, in what is called a “cross-dock” operation. Through a network of base terminals across a metro area, a region, or even the entire country, the nation’s thousands...

Former Vice President Mike Pence issued a statement Tuesday evening on the indictment of his former boss and now presidential campaign rival President Trump for contesting the 2020 election and lobbying state officials, Congress and Pence about the election. Pence said he has not reviewed the indictment. Trump strongly lobbied Pence to accept challenges to state election results and give those states time to review their elections when he presided over the joint session of Congress on January 6, 2021. Pence rejected Trump’s pleas, disagreeing with Trump’s saying he had the legal authority to do so under the Electoral Count...
