July 28, 2023 by Daniel Greenfield 2 Comments Newsletter [Editor’s note: Make sure to read Daniel Greenfield’s masterpiece contributions in Jamie Glazov’s new book: Barack Obama’s True Legacy: How He Transformed America.] 33 people were shot over the weekend in Chicago. Urban gangland violence like that is what real “mass shootings” look like and finally a Journal of the American Medical Association paper addressed the problem by shifting the blame to something it calls “structural racism”. The JAMA paper, which was quickly picked up by CNN as “Structural Racism may Contribute to Mass Shootings” and by Bloomberg as “Mass Shootings...

George Washington University Law School professor Jonathan Turley persuasively argued the Biden Justice Department was being too cute by half when prosecutors crafted a very lenient plea deal for Hunter Biden. But the judge overseeing the case would not let the deceptive gamesmanship stand. Biden was expected to plead guilty .. to two misdemeanor tax evasion charges and one illegal gun possession charge and likely do little or no jail time. The deal appeared to come together quickly in June as the GOP-controlled House Oversight Committee’s hearings into Biden’s overseas business dealings continued to heat up. However, the deal fell...

A new study suggests that incorporating olive oil into your diet could help reduce the risk of dying from dementia. The results indicated that people who consumed more than half a tablespoon of olive oil per day had a 28% lower risk of dying from dementia compared...

Ladies and Gentlemen, here’s a name I never thought I’d be discussing again: Dylan Mulvaney. Do you remember him? He’s the TikTok influencer who single-handedly sank the reputation of Bud Light with one viral video. Now, guess what? He’s asking for up to $40,000 to grace audiences with his presence on a college speaking tour. Can you believe that? This is the guy who’s planning on speaking on subjects like “female empowerment.” The same guy who’s credibility was called into question after his disastrous stint with Bud Light. Now, apparently, he’s graduated to empowerment speeches. You’ve got to give him...

Pope: ‘Bullying destroys life, respect each person for whom they are'The possibility of a trip to Argentina; a stark condemnation of bullying that "destroys" life; the invitation to respect each person "as they are", in their "authenticity"; the dangers for the many children who do not finish school and the alarm over the spread of pornography and the "commercialisation of love" of which adolescents, in particular, are victims were some of the themes upon which Pope Francis reflected during his meeting with Mayors and young people from Latin America and Europe.

Researchers report that blood levels of the omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were inversely correlated with hearing difficulty in a new population-based cross-sectional study. Middle-aged and older adults with higher DHA levels were 8–20% less likely to report age-related hearing issues than those with lower DHA levels. The results showed that people in the highest quintile (one-fifth of participants) of blood DHA levels were 16% less likely to answer yes to the question "do you have difficulty hearing" compared with those in the lowest quintile of DHA levels. Similarly, those in the highest quintile for DHA levels were 11%...

Dozens of people who apparently were smuggled into the United States were found working and living in “horrible” conditions at an illegal marijuana plant in California's Central Valley, authorities said Thursday. Deputies served a search warrant Wednesday afternoon at a site on unincorporated land near the city of Merced and discovered the operation. Images posted online by the Merced County Sheriff's Office showed trays, bags and boxes stuffed with what looked to be marijuana in a run-down interior space.

Professor Rist: The Catholic Church Could Be Facing a Crisis Worse Than the Arian Controversy of the 4th Centuryhe recent suspension of an Italian priest for writing a scholarly critique of Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia was a foolish and “wholly unjust” decision but one that underlines the depth of a crisis in the Church that could be worse than the Arian controversy, Professor John Rist has said.Regarded as one of the Church’s finest living scholars of ancient philosophy, classics, and early Christian philosophy and theology, Rist believes the suspension in April of Father Tullio Rotondo would never have...

(Daily readings from the USCCB)“The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but then worldly anxiety and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit. But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.” Matthew 13:22–23Today, Jesus clarifies for His disciples the meaning of His parable told to the crowds. He explains the meaning of the seed sown on the path, on the rocky ground, among the thorns and on the rich...

The widespread, pathogenic microbe Staphylococcus aureus can colonize the skin and mucous membranes throughout the body, particularly the vagina and gastrointestinal tract. A virulent strain of the bacterium produces toxic shock syndrome (TSS), a disease characterized by the quick onset of fever, a telltale rash, and, without treatment, multi-organ failure. Probiotics may help prevent the disease before the cytokine cascade ever begins. A study reports that strains of two bacteria, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus, successfully inhibited the production of the superantigens that cause TSS, in lab experiments. L. Acidophilus, in addition, inhibited the growth of the S. aureus strains...

President Joe Biden has reportedly asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop pushing through a “divisive” judicial overhaul bill amid protests. This is the same Biden, incidentally, who crammed through a massive, highly “divisive,” generational spending bill with zero votes from the opposition; the same guy who regularly rules by unconstitutional executive diktats; and the same guy who has done more to delegitimize the Supreme Court than any president in modern history. In any event, the president is concerned. As is The New York Times, which reports, “The Israeli Parliament passed a deeply contentious law limiting the Supreme Court’s...

President Trump has had a lot of ups and downs in his real estate career, which means his relations with banks and credit can be pretty dicey. The matter was made worse for him in the wake of the January 6 protests, where wokester banks outright cut him off. His Trump Organization financial operation however did find a bank that would loan to his organization, a relatively small bank in San Diego called Axos Bank. and that set the Washington Post scrambling to look for some seedy Biden-style corruption. They found nothing. They must have spent some time on this,...

Prosecutors in Alabama are considering charging Carlee Russell with two crimes that could land her behind bars for a year if convicted of faking her disappearance when she went missing for two days. Russell could be charged with falsely reporting an incident and false reporting to law enforcement authorities, Jefferson County Chief Assistant DA Lane Tolbert told ABC News. The class A misdemeanors are punishable by up to one year in jail, he said. “We advise what we think the charges should be,” Tolbert told the outlet, adding that any criminal charges would be filed by the circuit clerk of...

Academic courses have become a vehicle for Marxist ideology, using “culturally relevant teaching” demands.California has approved new radical K-12 math standards that are openly a vehicle for Marxist ideology. The stated goal is equity in math learning for non-whites and those from low-income families. The framework notes that “black, latinx, indigenous, women and poor students” have been underrepresented in the curriculum throughout history.” Equity will be implemented in the curriculum by dumbing down and sugar-coating the lessons and infusing them with political issues and student organizing. Tom Loveless, education researcher and former Brookings Institute fellow, predicted that the new framework...

A local school board president in California has been inundated with threats that left-wing activists will dismember her, kill her children, and slaughter her pets. Her crime? Saying that teachers should not keep parents in the dark if their children begin to “identify” as transgender. The new Chino Valley (California) Unified School District Board of Education policy states that school officials will notify parents in writing within three days if a child seeks to “identify” as a gender “other than the student’s biological sex,” use different pronouns, adopt a different name, or use the restroom or join a sports team...

Trade between the US and China hit a record high last year even as their diplomatic relations deteriorated. Imports and exports between the two countries totalled $690.6bn (£572.6bn) in 2022, official figures show. Relations between the countries have hit new lows in recent days after a Chinese balloon travelled across the US. Beijing denies US claims it was used for spying. The world's two biggest economies have also been in a trade war since 2018. The new figures show that US imports from China increased to $536.8bn last year as American shoppers spent more on Chinese-made goods, including toys and...
