A man who authorities previously confirmed was in the United States illegally and who court documents allege had mental illness concerns has been convicted of first-degree murder in the 2021 beheading death of his girlfriend in Shakopee. Alexis Saborit, 44, previously waived his right to a jury trial, and the guilty verdict was filed in court Thursday by Scott County Judge Caroline Lennon. The court document describes that Saborit struck America Thayer, 55, with an 8-pound dumbbell and then proceeded to behead her with a machete in front of several witnesses on July 28, 2021

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under the administration of President Joe Biden is set to launch an initiative aimed at addressing the issue of domestic terrorism. Under this initiative, the DHS intends to provide educational resources, including videos, to help individuals identify potential threats related to domestic terrorism. The focus of these materials will be on promoting awareness and understanding of the signs associated with radicalization. President Joe Biden recently gave a graduation commencement address at Howard University, a Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) member, in which he claimed that “white supremacy” is the greatest terrorism threat to...

Resolving lawsuits brought by four churches, two federal courts in California have ruled that the First Amendment protects the churches’ right to decline elective abortion coverage in their health insurance plans. Given the courts’ rulings in these multi-year lawsuits, state officials have agreed to pay $1,400,000 toward the churches’ attorneys’ fees. Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys represent Skyline Wesleyan Church, located in the San Diego area, in one federal lawsuit, and Foothill Church in Glendora, Calvary Chapel Chino Hills in Chino, and The Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch in another. Both lawsuits challenged California’s abortion-coverage mandate. In both...

Governor Ron DeSantis has signed SB 1580, a bill that protects doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals and organizations from being forced to participate in health care services that violate their conscience: Among other things, the bill would protect doctors, nurses and others who refuse to participate in killing babies in abortions. The legislation provides that health care providers and health care payors have the right to opt out of participation in or payment for certain health care services on the basis of conscience-based objections. It would allow them to refuse to participate in abortions or other objectionable activities based...

America’s love affair between the automobile and AM radio — a century-long romance that provided the soundtrack for lovers’ lanes, kept the lonely company with ballgames and chat shows, sparked family singalongs and defined road trips — is on the verge of collapse, a victim of galloping technological change and swiftly shifting consumer tastes. The breakup is entirely one-sided, a move by major automakers to eliminate AM radios from new vehicles despite protests from station owners, listeners, first-responders and politicians from both major parties. Automakers, such as BMW, Volkswagen, Mazda and Tesla, are removing AM radios from new electric vehicles...

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow recently appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast, recalling her shock at what her children were taught in their school’s sex ed classes at a young age. “I remember my kids both went to this fantastic elementary school here in Los Angeles,” she stated, adding, “They taught them sex ed in sixth grade, which, like, yeah, OK. But I really was not prepared with the information that they came home with.” “They taught them everything. Everything. Anything you’re thinking — they taught the 11-, 12-year-olds. Told them everything, I swear,” Paltrow stated. She noted that even her...

Laredo Mayor Victor Trevino said on Sunday that his Texas city near the southern border has “not been overwhelmed” in the wake of the expiration of the pandemic-era immigration policy Title 42. “There’s no doubt that we’re seeing historic challenges in our border. … But everything that we have been doing since the declaration of emergency has held up, and we have not been overwhelmed at this point,” Treviño said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump .3h Rob DeSanctimonious and his poll numbers are dropping like a rock - I would almost be inclined to say, these are record “falls.” The question: Is “Rob” just young, inexperienced and naive or, more troubling, is he a fool who has no idea what he is doing. We already have one of those in office, we don’t need another one. MAGA! May 14, 2023, 10:38 AM

Border Patrol agents in a single border sector arrested five migrants later discovered to be on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB) watch list. The apprehensions occurred on Friday in the Tucson Sector of the United States Border Patrol shortly after the end of Title 42. According to a source within Customs and Border Protection, not authorized to speak to the media, the migrants were referred to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task for further investigation and identity confirmation.

Barack Obama rose to power on the promise that he would restore hope and bring necessary change to a system that, by 2008, most Americans no longer believed was working for them. Sadly, those Americans who believed that the future would be bleaker for their children than it was for them and their parents, were right. Obama failed to deliver. His supporters claim that he cleaned up an epic mess inherited from George W. Bush and his Republican Party. Of course, that’s just a convenient excuse that the Left uses to cover up for the fact that Obama did not...

Reality is more than just superficial appearances.. The progressive obsession with viewing human beings as blank slates is fundamentally flawed.. Many of us are familiar with the metaphor of the “cargo cult.” The term itself was coined by the famous physicist Richard Feynman... Briefly, the phenomenon of the cargo cult was observed in the South Pacific during World War II. Pacific Islanders would observe the Americans building runways and control towers... The islanders would build their own bamboo mockups... expecting that planes full of food and medicines would come to them as well... Ultimately, cargo cults rested on a form...

The White House ripped House Republicans for the debt ceiling legislation they passed last month, arguing spending cuts in the bill would be a “gut punch” to border agents. The bill would raise the debt ceiling, but also makes good on Republicans’ promise to cut spending. Democrats, who in the Senate have signaled they will not consider the House bill, have gone on the offense on the spending cuts. The White House dubbed the bill the “Default on America Act.”

If you’re waiting for Democrats to talk as frankly about wealth as they do about race, don’t hold your breath. Some recent US figures on the distribution of income by party: 65 percent of taxpayer households that earn more than $500,000 per year are now in Democratic districts; 74 percent of the households in Republican districts earn less than $100,00 per year. Add to this what we knew already, namely that the 10 richest congressional districts in the country all have Democratic representatives in Congress. The above numbers incidentally come from the Internal Revenue Service, via Bloomberg, and are likely...

Republicans on the House Oversight Committee are having difficulty tracking down a key informant involved in the investigation into President Joe Biden, his son Hunter Biden, and other members of the Biden family, Rep. James Comer, who chairs the committee, said Sunday. "Unfortunately, we can't track down the informant," the Kentucky Republican told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures" host Maria Bartiromo. "We're hopeful that the informant is still there. The whistleblower knows the informant. The whistleblower is very credible."

As headlines about the frosty relationship between China and the United States are dominated by spy balloons, Taiwan and botched attempts at diplomacy, commanders in the Pentagon are increasingly worried by a more insidious threat: Beijing's growing stronghold on Latin America. From tens of billions of dollars in funding for key infrastructure projects across the region to its own secretive, military-run space station in Argentina that could target American satellites, China's presence has grown. Some 21 countries in Latin America are signed up to Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative - a defining policy introduced by President Xi Jinping in 2013...

Computer engineers and tech-inclined political scientists have warned for years that cheap, powerful artificial intelligence tools would soon allow anyone to create fake images, video and audio that was realistic enough to fool voters and perhaps sway an election. […] Sophisticated generative AI tools can now create cloned human voices and hyper-realistic images, videos and audio in seconds, at minimal cost. When strapped to powerful social media algorithms, this fake and digitally created content can spread far and fast and target highly specific audiences, potentially taking campaign dirty tricks to a new low. The implications for the 2024 campaigns and...
