The South Carolina Freedom Caucus has filed a lawsuit against the House Ethics Commission. The group wants to be recognized as a full legislative caucus. The lawsuit has been filed in federal court and lists all members of the House Ethics Committee as defendants. Members say the caucus is classified as a “special legislative interest caucus” and specifically forbids it from raising money and “engag[ing] in any activity that would influence the outcome of an election or ballot measure.” "South Carolina law prohibits the Freedom Caucus from enjoying the same privileges as other caucuses. Caucuses formed on the basis of...

Germany's federal statistics office Destatis said on Wednesday that February's inflation rate was 8.7%, the same as the previous month. This dashed hopes consumer prices would continue to decline slightly, as they had in the autumn after a high of 10.4% in October. Skyrocketing energy and food prices continued to drive the high inflation rate, despite government measures to decrease the energy burden on consumers and the European Central Bank (ECB) gradually raising interest rates to further dampen inflation. Energy costs in February 2023 were 19.1% more than the same time in 2022, while food prices were 21.8% higher. Destatis...

Thanks to rampant leftism, the business of America is no longer business but is, instead, selling woke ideology to bring about corporate socialism (i.e., fascism). Because the biggest corporations are on board with that agenda, the effect on conservative values and conservatives themselves has been devastating. However, it’s entirely possible that the bad economy (which they aggressively helped institute) will be their undoing. Justin Haskins, the Socialism Research Director at The Heartland Institute, took to Fox News to identify the 51 biggest companies advancing leftism and to offer ways to counter their influence. The information Haskins offers summarizes the 1792 Exchange’s...

House Oversight Committee Republicans rejected a slew of amendments to weaken their legislation against government coercion of tech platforms (HR 140) at a markup Tuesday, warning that Democrats' proposed exceptions were so vague they would gut the bill's speech protections. The Protecting Speech from Government Interference Act amends the Hatch Act, which prohibits political activity by federal employees, to prohibit the use of "official authority" to influence or coerce any "interactive computer service" to remove or suppress "lawful speech," add disclaimers or alerts, or restrict access to users. Penalties include termination, up to a five-year ban on federal employment and...

Have been noticing for weeks now that the MSM is ramping up their wokeness with regard to the TikTok spying issue. We see more states and governments banning tiktok apps from devices. And we see Elon Musk taking over Twitter. The two tend to be connected. MSM general interest stories now are almost all being 'found' on TikTok and used in newscasts. Next to nothing is being credited to Twitter. In general this is the MSM promoting the use of TikTok and almost discouraging the use of Twitter. Coincidence ? I say not.

(Daily readings from the USCCB)While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them, “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah.” Luke 11:29The crowd seemed to be a mixed bunch. First, there were those who wholeheartedly believed in Jesus. The Twelve, for example, left everything behind to follow Him. His mother and various other holy women believed in Him and were His faithful followers. But within the growing crowd, it appeared that there were many who questioned Jesus and wanted some form of...

Greta Thunberg has been twice detained at protests in Oslo over an onshore wind farm which she and activists say hinders the rights of the Sami indigenous people to raise reindeer in Arctic Norway. The 20-year-old Swedish environmental campaigner and hundreds of other demonstrators say a transition to green energy should not come at the expense of indigenous rights and have been demanding the removal of 151 wind turbines from land used by Sami herders. "We want to make it very clear that it is the Norwegian state that is committing the real crime here, for violating human rights," she...

On July 15, 1993, nearly thirty years ago, the late Kristen Scott-Miller’s killer, an 18-year old named Anthony Georg Simpson, did not commit premeditated murder. Although he had loaded his gun and departed with it from his house, Simpson received a second degree murder sentence, making him eligible for parole more than ten years ago.One Bright Summer Morning The deceased was on her morning jog. On February 9, Nike sent a letter to Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and city officials asking for more police at their MLK Community Store, which has been closed for months because of ongoing retail theft, with the shoe brand even proposing to pay law enforcement directly if it would bring them the protection they were requesting. According to KGW8, Nike proposed two options. The company was open to creating an "intergovernmental agreement" with the city of Portland to directly fund full-time police officers who would be selected to police the store. A second option would be to pay off-duty Portland...

Texas Rep. Bryan Slaton just submitted a resolution (H.C.R. No. 54) in the Texas Legislature to inform the federal government of a series of "alleged boating accidents" that occurred across Hunt, Hopkins, Van Zandt, and possibly other counties. The alleged boating accidents caused all the private gun owners in those counties to lose all their guns and ammo, but thankfully resulted in no injury or loss of life. It seems Texas is finding it necessary to inform the federal government to save them some trouble down the road should the latter decide to further degrade the Second Amendment: The Texas...

Geneva (AFP) – An exceptionally long La Nina weather phenomenon that intensified drought and flooding is finally ending, the United Nations said Wednesday -- but what comes next might bring its own problems. The outgoing La Nina phenomenon, a cooling of surface temperatures that can have a widespread impact on global weather conditions, started in September 2020. However, despite La Nina's cooling effect, both 2021 and 2022 were warmer than any year prior to 2015. Now El Nino, its warming opposite in the cycle, El Nino, could be on the way this year, the UN's World Meteorological Organization said in...

A tentative, EU-brokered deal between Serbia and Kosovo this week to normalise relations marks a quiet victory for the West as it vies with Russia for influence in Belgrade. Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine a year ago, pro-Moscow sentiment has spilled into Serbia's streets. T-shirts with the letter Z, a symbol of Russia's campaign, are sold as souvenirs while far-right groups openly tout support for Russia. President Aleksandar Vucic, trying to pull off a tricky balancing act between Serbia's deep cultural and religious ties with Russia on the one hand and European Union ambitions and a NATO partnership on...
