Greta Thunberg has been twice detained at protests in Oslo over an onshore wind farm which she and activists say hinders the rights of the Sami indigenous people to raise reindeer in Arctic Norway.
The 20-year-old Swedish environmental campaigner and hundreds of other demonstrators say a transition to green energy should not come at the expense of indigenous rights and have been demanding the removal of 151 wind turbines from land used by Sami herders.
"We want to make it very clear that it is the Norwegian state that is committing the real crime here, for violating human rights," she told Reuters.
The Sami live in Lapland, which stretches from northern parts of Norway through Sweden and Finland to Russia.
Today, the nomadic people live mostly modern lifestyles but still tend reindeer.
They have said the sight and sound of the giant wind power machinery frightens their animals and disrupts age-old traditions.

But for unknown reasons , these Enviro activists have decided nuclear power is evil. So in their view, nuclear cannot be part of their zeal to reduce use of so called fossil fuels.
Norway is doing what Greta and her ilk would like to see happen, but they put these wind turbines in the wrong place?
So in Greta’s view this is a crime against humanity?
Of course I’ll protest said Greta...you can’t beat the money for just a couple speeches and hanging out.
I would love to see a penal colony set up for such as these. No modern conveniences. No electricity, no running water. Grow your own food, make your own clothes. I suppose there can be two. One with farm animals, one without. Those that want no animal products will need to grow their own flax and cotton, but good luck with no animals for plowing. Many of them need a real taste of what it is they want, and I’m all for giving it.
There are no indigenous people in Norway... The entire concept is complete BS. And if there are indigenous Norwegian’s, then why aren’t there indigenous Irish Or indigenous Scots with ‘special’ rights?
If that’s the case, then I’m half Irish Indian and half Scottish Indian... Now I want my own casino.
AH, but for many of these EcoNuts, that is not desirable. Going back to the 1970s, one of their leaders equated cheap, plentiful, and reliable energy with giving a child a machinegun.
Indigenous = Someone who stole the land from somebody else.

I saw an unedited clip of her being carried away by police. It showed them all yucking it up before she positioned herself for them to carry her for the photo op. Such a scripted farce.
