The spectre of Donald Trump’s imminent declaration of a new White House run looms over races in several key states ahead of Tuesday’s US midterm elections, with the former president poised to seize on any success for ultra-conservative candidates as validation for his 2024 campaign. Opinion polls appearing to reflect a last-minute surge of support for Trump-endorsed nominees in a number of crucial congressional and governors’ contests came as the former president appeared at a rally for the Republican senator Marco Rubio in Florida on Sunday. Heaping praise on “an incredible slate of true Maga warriors”, Trump cited his “Make...

Twitter Inc. owner Elon Musk, the world's richest person, on Monday recommended that voters pick Republican candidates for the U.S. Congress in Tuesday's midterm elections. "To independent-minded voters: Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the presidency is Democratic," Musk said on Twitter. Since Musk's takeover of Twitter, civil-rights groups have criticized the Tesla CEO's stance on content moderation over his absolutist free-speech stance, which they expect to increase the volume of misinformation and hate speech on the platform. President Joe Biden's Democrats face a steep battle to...

Facebook parent company Meta is set to announce large-scale layoffs that will affect thousands of employees this week, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. The cuts could end up being the largest tech workforce reduction conducted this year, surpassing the recent Twitter layoffs that will reportedly affect at least half of its workforce. Meta reported more than 87,000 employees at the end of September. While smaller on a percentage basis than the Twitter layoffs, the number of axed employees could account for one of the largest labor reductions across all industries this year. For Meta, which previously...

He was singularly responsible for introducing me around 2011-2012 to the Hollywood conservatives that made up the “Friends of Abe.” Andrew set up a dinner party at one of the finest steakhouses around for me to meet many of them, then paid for it himself. Perhaps Andrew was not as influential as the great Rush Limbaugh, but he definitely had a powerful voice, a reputation as the “Happy Warrior” on the right. Most people know Andre Breitbart for his maxim, “Politics is downstream of culture,” while forgetting that he did much to try to change that culture by joining with...

After the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade leaked on May 3rd, news reports blamed abortion-related violence over the summer on pro-life supporters. “[W]e have seen a steady rise in violence and harassment against providers from anti-abortion extremists who continue to be emboldened by the Supreme Court’s decision,” claimed Melissa Fowler, Chief Program Officer of the National Abortion Federation (NAF). "People want me dead’: abortion providers fear violence after Roe overturned,” a headline in The Guardian read. Other news outlets, such as NBC News, also focused on the increased threat of violence against abortion providers. But national news...

"The View" host Whoopi Goldberg announced Monday that she plans to quit Twitter after billionaire Elon Musk's takeover but said she might come back if she feels "comfortable." "So it has been a little over a week since Elon Musk took over Twitter and the place, it’s a mess… He also suspended Kathy Griffin for impersonating him on a parody account, which has started a FreeKathy hashtag to trend. I’m — I’m getting off. I’m getting off today because I just feel like, you know, it’s so messy," Goldberg said. Goldberg said she was tired of "attitudes" that have been...

From myth to masterpiece, the first street car he ever built will become a legend. The curvaceous Daedalus roadster, hand-built from scratch over a span of 17 years in a two-car garage, is a one-off original design with a hand-formed aluminum body, 302-cubic-inch GMC inline six-cylinder engine, C4 Corvette suspension, Truspoke wire wheels, and custom leather interior. Inspired by European sports roadsters that ruled Sebring, Le Mans, and high-end tracks around the world in the late 50s and early 60s, owner and builder Kris Heil incorporated styling cues from Aston Martin, Jaguar, Ferrari, and Porsche without copying any particular design....

ori Weaver Hawkins with AAA says the country currently has about a 25-day supply of diesel. But that metric has been misinterpreted by some. “We may have a 25-day supply of diesel, but that doesn’t mean in 25 days we’re going to run out of diesel,” said Weaver Hawkins. Weaver Hawkins says that would only be the case if diesel stopped being produced. But reports have prompted some panic among consumers, leading them to buy in large quantities. “That does cause problems,” Weaver Hawkins said. “It will cause disruption.” She says diesel producers are trying to play catch-up to reach...

John Fetterman, the Democratic candidate running for the Pennsylvania Senate, has sent out a memo warning that the election-reporting process could be delayed by a while and to "buckle up" for a long week ahead. In his memo, Fetterman lashed out at many Republicans whom he claimed would try to delegitimize the results, including Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Tucker Carlson, Doug Mastriano, and even his opponent Mehmet Oz. GOP nominee Doctor Mehmet Oz is currently polling neck and neck against Democrat Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman. On Sunday's episode of Meet the Press host Chuck Todd told his audience to expect...

LOVE THY NEIGHBOR The documentary “1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture” claims that one human error 75 years ago stoked decades of homophobia and hate. Extremists don’t want you to see it. The first time the word “homosexual” appeared in the Bible was in 1946. That year, a committee gathered to translate an updated English version of the book from the Greek. Religious scholars, priests, theologists, linguists, anthropologists, and activists have done decades of research and investigation into the instances where the word appears in the book. Their conclusion is that it was a mistranslation. In other words, the Biblical...
