A former data science manager at Twitter is planning to sue Elon Musk for firing her while six months pregnant. As Musk began slashing jobs last week, Shennan Lu was one of many workers who were laid off. She subsequently took to Twitter to blast the Elon Musk-led company’s handling of the situation.

I dont think the pregnant lady will win. Workers have some protection against unwarranted ‘firings’. Layoffs, not so much.

On the first day of every job I had as a professional I was informed: “We can fire you for any reason.” Suck it up, Buttercup.

I doubt there’s a clause in her employment agreement about pregnancy and being fired. And I am sure Musk’s lawyers went over such agreements with fine-toothed combs.

Did Musk also make her pregnant?

I know he intends to populate Mars with his children and robots.

Liberal Karen on a rampage… But the real story should be who was the man that got her pregnant? Was his head bit off after mating?

Does she actually have a case in the law for that?

We don’t live in that world any more FRiend. I wish we did.

We now live in a world where local politicians, state politicians, and federal politicians, along with their judicial allies, can tell you, a private property owner, that you cannot evict a tenant who refuses to pay rent.

Let that sink in for a minute.

What is different about that versus a judge telling Elon Musk that you must continue to employ a person in your company?

Elon is going to regret this purchase because the left has demonized him one rung below Trump and they will do anything to ruin him.

The WARN Act requires notice for mass layoffs. California has additional state level rules. Not necessarily crazy.

Is she three months pregnant now? Because the Twits got three months severance when they were notified. Six months now means she has three more months of pay and benefits coming in with no job to deal with going to. Still kind of sucks to be laid off now with that kind of situation, health care coverage more than anything is a big deal with a pregnancy, maybe FMLA covers this sort of situation, but the world doesn’t stop just because you have a kid on the way and you don’t get a year+ of invulnerability from being fired.

They are not being fired. The company is downsizing and that’s what happens.

Read that the Twitter employees will continue to get pay checks to fulfill the various advancd notice laws as if they were still working. Its not like Musk is breaking the usual laws.

I think there’s a law that companies must give 60 days advance notice for mass layoffs over 100 people, or something to that effect. That’s what their lawsuit is about, that he didn’t give notice. But since Musk is giving them 3 months of severance pay, I don’t see the problem, but from a legal standpoint who knows.
