If you aren't aware, the Tolkien fandom isn't happy with Amazon's new work of "art," the $1-billion-a-season "Rings of Power." There are a lot of reasons why the show is being criticized so heavily – most of them having to do with post-modern, feminist, Marxist ideology that the showrunners are trying to impose on a franchise that is utterly opposed to such things – but I'll let you sift through those in-depth reviews for yourself. As for right now, let's just glory in the fact that somehow, despite the beloved franchise having oodles of source material to work with, the...

A police chief claims that he and four other staff members quit after their ‘hostile’ black town manager gave them ‘crazy write-ups’ for speaking to the public while on duty, as she was fired from her job following the resignations. Ex-chief Josh Gibson of Police in Kenly, North Carolina, stepped down from his role after clashing with Justine Jones, the town manager, repeatedly since she took the post in June. Jones was fired Tuesday night, with Gibson now speaking out about their testy relationship. City Council officials voted 3-2 to oust Jones, during an emergency meeting that followed a month-long...

The Internal Revenue Service 'mistakenly' posted the names, contact data and financial information from about 120,000 taxpayers' retirement accounts. The US Treasury Department determined that a human coding error allowed the confidential information to be posted on the IRS' website before it was taken down, the Wall Street Journal reported. Among the information published were the names, contact information and finances of individuals who submitted 990-T forms regarding their IRA plans. On Friday, the Treasury assured Congress that Social Security numbers, full income information and other key pieces of financial data were not published and that those affected would be...

Joe Biden says a lot of stupid stuff when he doesn’t “have COVID” and they’re not hiding him away from the cameras, so you might’ve missed this imbecilic utterance earlier this week:Joe Biden F-15sFor a guy who keeps yammering about bringing Americans together, it seems a bit much to threaten half the country with fighter jets. Kind of a mixed message. And then yesterday, he got even worse...Why is this Alzheimer’s patient yelling? It’s like America is a lawn and he wants you off it.If the Republicans don’t use footage of this crazy old man screaming in front of a blood-red...

Explanation: Find the Big Dipper and follow the handle away from the dipper's bowl until you get to the last bright star. Then, just slide your telescope a little south and west and you'll come upon this stunning pair of interacting galaxies, the 51st entry in Charles Messier's famous catalog. Perhaps the original spiral nebula, the large galaxy with well defined spiral structure is also cataloged as NGC 5194. Its spiral arms and dust lanes clearly sweep in front of its companion galaxy (left), NGC 5195. The pair are about 31 million light-years distant and officially lie within the angular...

SCURRY, Texas — A Kaufman County Mennonite church leader has been sentenced to life in prison following his conviction for continuous sexual assault of a child under the age of 14 in Kaufman County, according to District Attorney Erleigh Wiley. Prosecutors say 51-year-old Stanley Gerald Champ of Scurry, Texas, led the Grays Prairie Mennonite Church in the 12000 block of Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 where he met his latest victim — a four-year-old girl. Yesterday, following a three-day trial before 86th District Court Judge Casey Blair, the jury returned a guilty verdict on the charge of continuous sexual abuse of a...

When candidate Joe Biden promised that if elected president he would unite the country, did he think he could do it alienating roughly half the population? Or did he mean he would unite the Democrats and independents against the “MAGA Republicans”? Thursday’s speech clearly indicates what he had in mind was the latter. Last week, Biden smeared Donald Trump supporters, calling them semi-fascists who practice “burn-it-all-down politics” and face “backwards full of anger, violence, hate and division.” One of the most appropriate and fitting responses we saw to this was Libby Emmons’ Biden Is The Semi-Fascist He’s Looking For in...

On Friday's Morning Joe, making the case for why Biden's blatantly partisan-political speech on Thursday night was justified, Joe Scarborough claimed: "You have Lindsey Graham talking about if, if Donald Trump's held to the same standard as every other American, then Republicans are going to go out and burn down cities. Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

President Biden on Friday tried to walk back some of the fiery political rhetoric from his primetime speech in Philadelphia a night earlier, denying that he attacked Donald Trump voters despite having repeatedly slammed “MAGA Republicans” allied with the former president. “Do you consider all Trump supporters to be a threat to this country?” a reporter asked Biden at the end of his only scheduled public remarks of the day. “Come on, look, guys, you keep trying to make that case. I don’t consider any Trump supporter to be a threat to the country,” Biden said.

Not even Gavin Newsom’s in-laws are listening to his Florida fear-mongering. The California governor’s relatives bolted the Golden State for the Sunshine State as Newsom ordered schools, businesses and churches shuttered at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new report. Longtime California residents Kenneth Siebel Jr. and Judith Siebel purchased a $3.3 million home in Naples, Fla., in March 2020, according to Fox News. The Siebels, whose daughter Jennifer has been married to Newsom for 14 years, then registered to vote in Florida in June 2020, according to the report. Around the time of the home purchase,...

Former Attorney General Bill Barr trashed Trump during a segment on Fox News. People say this was unprecedented, well it’s also unprecedented for a president to take all this classified information and put them in a county club,” Bill Barr said. Sept 2 (Reuters) - General Motors Co said Friday it will offer all of its estimated 2,000 U.S. Buick franchise dealers buyouts as it moves to make the brand all-electric by 2030 in the United States. The Wall Street Journal reported the news earlier, quoting Global Buick chief Duncan Aldred who is set to discuss the plans with dealers Friday in a virtual meeting. He noted shifting to EVs will require significant investments by Buick dealers. "So if they want to exit the Buick franchise, then we will give them monetary assistance to do so," Aldred told the newspaper.

Scientists developed a battery prototype that's derived from an electrolyte found in crab shells -- yes, the kind you discard after a seafood dinner. Why it matters Traditional rechargeable batteries, most commonly Lithium-ion, aren't easily biodegradable, and that harms the environment. When it comes to combating the climate crisis, it's promising that we've seen a recent push for electric vehicles. Unlike standard cars, which emit clouds of fossil fuel exhaust into the atmosphere -- thereby contaminating our planet's shield and contributing to global warming -- electric versions rely on battery power, which doesn't spit out excessive pollution. There's just one...

A new image captured by NASA's Juno Jupiter explorer reveals features in the turbulent atmosphere of the solar system's largest planet in the same colors a human observer would see them. Juno took the image on July 5, 2022, during its 43rd close flyby of Jupiter using its JunoCam instrument. The spacecraft was at a distance of 3,300 miles (5,300 kilometers) from the tops of the gas giant's clouds when the image was taken, zipping by at 130,000 mph (209,000 kph). Citizen scientist Björn Jónsson processed the raw data from Juno to create two images. The image on the left...
