The Big Apple has begun to rot this summer, by the smell of it. There were 5,746 calls to 311 regarding the outdoor odor complaints this year through June 30, according to the New York Post. It's an increase of 54% since the first six months of 2021. An New York Police Department spokesperson reported 280 civil summonses were issued to city residents for public urination during the first three months of this year, an increase from 169 since last year. Rohini Kosoglu, domestic policy adviser to Vice President Kamala Harris, has announced she'll be leaving the position in August, continuing a high rate of turnover in Harris's staff. Seward native Jesse Rood broke the axe throwing world record on Friday at the opening ceremonies of the 2022 Cornhusker State Games with a throw of 90 ft. The previous record was 75 ft. and Rood smashed that with his throw of 90 ft. at Seacrest Field. Monkeypox infections in New York City are overwhelmingly being found in men - with more than half of cases being detected among lesbian, gay, bisexual or queer people as well. Officials in the Big Apple revealed the first snapshot of the demographics of people that have been infected with the tropical virus. Of the 336 cases in the city - the most of any singular locality in America - 321 are among men, with no confirmed cases among women.
