German energy prices surged on Monday due to insufficient wind generation. In April, Germany unveiled the Easter Package, a plan to expand renewable energies through onshore and offshore wind development in line with the European Union’s REPowerEU Action Plan, a plan to make Europe independent from Russian fossil fuels before 2030. The Easter Package target goal is to transition 80 percent of Germany’s electricity to renewables by 2030. Wind droughts, such as that which plagued Europe in summer and fall of 2021, have been exacerbating the continent’s current energy crisis, already severe because of the disturbance to global energy markets from...

Explanation: It's northern noctilucent cloud season. Composed of small ice crystals forming only during specific conditions in the upper atmosphere, noctilucent clouds may become visible at sunset during late summer when illuminated by sunlight from below. Noctilucent clouds are the highest clouds known and now established to be polar mesospheric clouds observed from the ground. Although observed with NASA's AIM satellite since 2007, much about noctilucent clouds remains unknown and so a topic of active research. He was wanted on warrants related to the theft of a $40,000 boat in January. When Mobley spotted the deputies, the sheriff’s office said he switched a John Deere riding lawnmower "into high gear" and tried to flee the scene. Mobley was quickly apprehended after pursuing...

Symptoms of Omicron infections are typically coldlike, including a sore throat, sneezing, and a runny nose. Symptoms like fever, chills, and cough are still seen sometimes in Omicron cases but not as frequently as in earlier variants of the virus. Like past variants in the Omicron lineage, BA.5...

The God you can’t make upWhen his atheist friends asked W. H. Auden why he jettisoned his atheism for Christianity, he said: “I believe in Jesus because he fulfills none of my dreams.”Let that sink in for a moment.Enter most any church today and you’ll be told the exact opposite. At the very least, the message given is that Christ will remove the hardships you have in life, and in some cases, the line delivered is that Jesus wants you rich and in perfect health from top to bottom.Sounds pretty dreamy to me. After all, didn’t Christ say: “Come to...

In what appears to be yet another sign of the growing disenchantment with Joe Biden due to his poor performance in the White House, the Associated Press did something on Monday that would have been unthinkable a year ago: It compared Biden very unfavorably with Donald Trump. And it wasn't just for the sake of doing so, but it concerned the comparison was over their relationships with the leader of a key U.S. ally: Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.AP pointed out just how terrible Biden's relationship is with AMLO in contrast to the much better relations with Trump who was...
