Carolina. On AC360, host Anderson Cooper welcomed network data reporter Harry Enten to discuss the Wyoming Republican. Enten tied her to Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC), who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump last year. Rice lost his primary to Trump-backed South Carolina state Rep. Russell Fry. Cheney is the co-chair of the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. She also voted to impeach Trump, and is likely headed for a similar fate, per Enten. “How do things look for her?” Cooper asked. “Well, if you watched what happened in South Carolina, I bet you can guess,”...

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) is set to headline a fundraiser for Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday in his latest effort to boost Republicans who have come under fire by former President Trump. Murkowski is one of seven Republican senators who voted last year to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial, though she’s the only one facing reelection this year. She’s currently facing a primary challenge from Republican Kelly Tshibaka, who landed Trump’s endorsement last year. It’s not the first time that Hogan has weighed in for one of Trump’s Republican detractors. The Maryland governor,...

Just after 1.a.m on June 8, he went to the associate justice's house with a pistol, ammunition, a knife, cable ties, pepper spray, duct tape and other items that he told police he would use to break into Kavanaugh's house, kill Kavanaugh and then himself...

Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18 Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus prescribes the essential disciplines of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Let’s focus on fasting and almsgiving. The appetites for food and drink are so pressing, so elemental, that, unless they are quelled and disciplined, they will simply take over the soul. They are like children who clamor constantly for attention and who, if indulged, will in short order run the house. Therefore, if the passion for God is to be awakened, the more immediately pressing desires must be muted, and this is the purpose of fasting. We go...

Supreme Court justices have in the past few weeks faced a thwarted assassination attempt, tense protests outside their homes, and death threats. Yet some Democrats in Congress don't think they need extra security. The Senate in May unanimously passed a bill to provide armed security for the families of Supreme Court justices following the leak of a draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade. House Democrats responded by stalling the bill for more than a month, even as leftist groups drafted battle plans to shut down the Supreme Court and an assassin traveled across the country to murder Justice...

For Liz Cheney, Tuesday was a bad day for her political future. South Carolina Rep. Tom Rice, who, like Cheney, was one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump in the wake of the January 6, 2021, riot at the US Capitol, was crushed in a primary by state Rep. Russell Fry, who ran with the former President's endorsement. "The 'Impeacher' was ousted without even a runoff," Trump posted on his social media website Truth Social. "A GREAT night." Rice is the latest Republican to watch their political future disappear in the wake of their vote to...

Loudoun County commonwealth's attorney Buta Biberaj was a top prospect for the George Soros-funded Justice and Public Safety PAC when she ran for the post in 2019. Ecuadorean indigenous leader Leonidas Iza has been freed on a judge's orders as protesters flocked to the capital Quito for the third day of anti-government protests led by his organization. Indigenous Ecuadoreans embarked on an open-ended protest on Monday, blockading roads countrywide with burning tires and barricades of sand, rocks and tree branches to protest high fuel prices and living costs...

CNN’s media-centric show “Reliable Sources” hosted by Brian Stelter had its worst-rated episode since September 2019. Stelter’s show logged just 580,000 last Sunday, and a mere 73,000 viewers in the all-important 25-to-54-year-old demographic, Fox News reported. The show lost 13% of the total audience and it marked Stelter’s smallest audience since Sept. 15, 2019. “MediaBuzz,” which airs at the same time on Fox News, averaged 1.4 million total viewers and 189,000 in the 25-54 demo, crushing Stelter’s show, which has been under a microscope since Chris Licht, CNN’s new boss, took the helm in May. Licht, who succeeded Jeff Zucker...

[Catholic Caucus] Proudly a “Restorer”In a recent interview Pope Francis lamented the existence of “restorers,” a label he appears to tag on those who do not “accept the Council.” He said,Restorationism has come to gag the Council. The number of groups of ‘restorers’ — for example, in the United States there are many — is significant.I was struck by the pope’s use of the term, “restorers.” Whether the pope meant it as an insult or just a descriptive label, I take it as an accurate description of my views and the views of many other Catholics (a “significant” number, according...

[Catholic Caucus] Psychopathy and the imminent end? By Caminante-WandererIn recent weeks there has been insistent talk of a conclave approaching as Francis would step down, or else his natural end would be much closer than the Vatican would be willing to admit. We do not know. However, the publication of the dialogue he had with the editors of the European Jesuit cultural magazines almost a month ago, and which was published June 13 by La civiltà cattolica, shows that the Supreme Pontiff's biggest problem is not his bad knee or his intestinal diverticula; it is something much more serious and affects...

The NY Times Magazine has published a lengthy story about the fight going on inside and outside the organization that sets standards of care for trans people, including children. The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) last published standards of care in 2012 and has been working on revising them for months. But the issue has become far more contentious this time around, partly because some states are trying to ban some interventions for children and also partly because the pro-trans left is determined to punish anyone who seems to show any signs of weakness when it comes to...
