North Carolina Rep. Madison Cawthorn on Thursday called for “Dark MAGA” to topple “the Uni-party” and shake up “gentile politics” in his first Instagram post since losing his Republican primary election on Tuesday. The 26-year-old — who angered fellow House Republicans by suggesting that they do cocaine and invited him to orgies in DC — lost his primary bid to state Sen. Chuck Edwards, despite having former President Donald Trump’s endorsement.

JPM has backtracked on its earlier forecasts of a 35% contraction in Russian GDP in the second quarter. The lion's share of Russian raw materials is traded via Switzerland and its nearly 1,000 commodity firms.

Florida woman is accused of throwing a rubber snake at a deputy, one of several charges she now faces after a bizarre chase. “Yeah. I think one of the takeaways from this whole thing is that there’s nothing routine about a routine traffic stop,” Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said. Snyder said that routine traffic stop happened at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. A deputy on a motorcycle tried to pull over a pickup truck when another pickup truck hit the gas hard. So, the deputy chased that truck.

The Biden administration on Thursday announced the first flights will take place in the coming days to deliver infant formula from Europe to the United States as part of a new government initiative to address the domestic formula shortage. The Pentagon is working to get planes in place to fly the equivalent of 1.5 million bottles of formula from Zurich, Switzerland, to Plainfield, Ind., to be distributed to areas of need. The flights are part of “Operation Fly Formula,” an initiative launched this week as one of several steps the White House is taking to increase formula supply.

Frustrated customers, devastated restaurants, and more: What you need to know about this week’s food delivery catastropheThe offer was simple: Using the code “FREELUNCH,” Grubhub customers in the New York metropolitan area could take $15 off orders placed on Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (They were still required to pay taxes, fees, and optional tips.) Naturally, a discounted lunch during a period of nationwide inflation and rising food costs was an enticing prospect; as BuzzFeed reported, order volume peaked at 6,000 per minute during those three hours. But almost immediately, it turned into a nightmare: All over Twitter...

Just when I thought the Biden administration was beyond shame, it (at least temporarily) pulled the plug on the Disinformation Governance Board, causing the buffoonish Nina Jankowicz to resign. I can't recall a speedier and more embarrassing belly flop of a government initiative than the announcement of this transparently Orwellian state organ, headed by a cringeworthy exhibitionist besotted with her own musical talent and purported wisdom. The astonishing lack of forethought in choosing Jankowicz as the arbiter of truth, when she is on the record affirming that Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation (even the Washington Post and New York...

Democrats, months away from the midterm election where the GOP is favored to take back the House, are looking to pass bills to show they have been able to do something productive for the country while having total control of Washington, DC, as Republicans also look to put them on the record opposing hard-line bills. As Politico pointed out, the Democrats have used this past week to pass legislation on a wide range of areas by playing “whack-a-mole” with the multiple national crises, such as a shortage of baby formula, skyrocketing inflation, and high gas prices, so they can buff...

[Catholic Caucus] Mother Miriam: Catholics cannot obey false, ‘sinful’ statements of the PopePope Francis has made remarks on several topics, including on LGBT issues, that Catholics can’t accept, Mother Miriam said. Catholics must reject statements that contradict the faith even if the Pope utters them, Mother Miriam said in a recent episode of LifeSite’s “Mother Miriam Live!”“When the Pope says what is sinful, what is inaccurate, what is against the faith,” said the Benedictine prioress, “not only do we have the right to not believe, but we should not believe. We must follow God and not men, even when that...

“‘“Hallowed be Your name”’” (Matthew 6:9). Scripture (1 Peter 1:16) commands believers to be holy (“hallowed”), whereas it recognizes God as being holy. So attributing to Him the holiness that already is His is how we hallow His name. As with every other truly righteous action, hallowing God’s name must begin in the heart. Peter reminds us to “sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts” (1 Peter 3:15). When we do this, we also sanctify Him as Lord in our lives, as we above all affirm that He exists: “for he who comes to God must believe that He is...

One of the weirdest tropes on the Left these days is the claim that freedom from government control is really fascism. Yesterday a reporter tried that theory out on Ron DeSantis, quoting a couple of Democrats who equated his Florida “regime” with totalitarian dictators like Fidel Castro. Big mistake:

The Biden administration has rolled back sanctions on Cuba and Venezuela in a disastrous move being heavily criticized by Hispanic voters here in the United States—many of whom are in the U.S. because they or their families fled the socialist regimes. President Joe Biden's administration mobilized Tuesday to ease economic sanctions against oil-rich Venezuela just one day after lifting several Trump-era financial, travel, and migration regulations for fellow socialist state Cuba, whose repressive government notoriously cracked down on the pro-democracy protests in 2021. This week's events are being seen as a soft-on-socialism downslide in U.S. foreign policy that's dealing a...

Francis, Monarch of Italy. Ever More Master, Ever Less LovedOn Monday May 23, when the Italian bishops gathered in Rome for their general assembly meet with Pope Francis behind closed doors, they already know that they will receive from him not only the usual chewing out, but also the “diktat” on the appointment of their new president, in replacement of the eighty-year-old cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti who has come to the end of his five-year mandate. In accordance with the statute, the Italian bishops will propose a trio of candidates, each voted for by an absolute majority, from among whom the pope...

Lawyers for a Fed-Ex worker who was badly burned in an explosion when a deputy tasered him while he was pumping gas say he is being 'vilified' by cops who suggested he was armed when the 26-year-old had 'never had a gun or brandished a gun.' The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has yet to produce a charge against 26-year-old Jean Barreto, who was tackled from behind, allegedly without warning, during the botched arrest. 'I’ve never seen law enforcement behaving this way in Central Florida and doing these types of things for anything from no offense to misdemeanor offenses,' said Mark...

The head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has issued a pastoral letter supporting abortion access and expresseding opposition to overturning the United States Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade. ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton released a “pastoral message on abortion” on Tuesday, explaining that the denomination teaches that “abortion must be legal, regulated and accessible.” "While this church longs for a future with fewer abortions every year, the social statement points out that outlawing all or nearly all abortions is not the way to do this,” stated Eaton. “The ELCA opposes both ‘the total lack of regulation of...

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — A group of Democratic congress members, including the House majority leader, on Thursday proposed a binding plebiscite to decide whether Puerto Rico should become a state or gain some sort of independence. The draft proposal unveiled at an online news conference would commit Congress to accepting Puerto Rico into the United States if voters on the island approve it. But even if the plan were to pass the Democratic-led House, the proposal appears to have little chance in the Senate, where Republicans have long opposed statehood. Voters also could choose outright independence or independence...
