Russia has been forced to merge and redeploy depleted and disparate units from failed advances in northeast Ukraine, a British military update said on Saturday. 'Shortcomings in Russian tactical coordination remain. A lack of unit-level skills and inconsistent air support have left Russia unable to fully leverage its combat mass, despite localised improvements,' the military tweeted. -snip- Ukraine continues to carry out attacks behind Russian lines to cut off vital supply routes, with a fuel dump in the Donetsk region catching fire today. Kyiv has not acknowledged carrying out any of the attacks - which have also hit railway bridges...

Two people were killed and at least seven others were wounded in shootings in Chicago Friday. A 69-year-old man was shot to death in Austin on the West Side. The man was in a home about 5:45 p.m. in the 300 block of South Kilpatrick Avenue when a suspect pulled out a gun and fired shots, Chicago police said. He was struck in the chest and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name hasn’t been released. Hours later, another man was found fatally shot in Douglas on the South Side. About 10:15...

In the darkest days of World War II, after three arduous years of fighting for their very survival, Britain and the allies finally began to turn the tide. As recorded in the archives of the International Churchill Society, upon the victory over German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel at El Alamein, Prime Minister Winston Churchill was urged to “ring out the bells” to herald their victory in “The Battle of Egypt.” Churchill demurred: “This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”

We are self-funded, fiercely independent and enjoy our freedom to speak plainly in the support of God,...

Like Trump, DeSantis' time in office would be marked by attempts to pit Americans against one another. But unlike Trump, DeSantis has the proven ability to follow through. Ron DeSantis is the governor of Florida, a front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, and quite possibly the most dangerous figure in American politics. While it’s hard to imagine any politician wresting that title away from Donald Trump, DeSantis brings something to the table that Trump lacks — his ability to translate political vindictiveness, cruelty and demagoguery into policy results.

If you’re a prepper living in the city, you need to have an emergency preparedness plan before SHTF so you can bug in or bug out as needed. If you’re not sure where to start, learn about the six principles of survival and prepare a bug-out bag. (h/t to SurvivalCache.com) Wilderness survival skills like fire starting, hunting, building a shelter and water purification techniques are all valuable skills, but you need to adapt if you want to survive in the city when SHTF. When planning for an urban disaster scenario, you should also focus on situational awareness, personal protection, planning...

An innovative face mask for cows, designed to reduce methane emissions and slow down climate change, has won a prestigious design award. The wearable device for cattle, created by UK-based design group Zelp, was one of the four winners of the inaugural Terra Cart Design Lab competition. Prince Charles, who launched the competition as part of his Sustainable Markets Initiative, hailed the ground-breaking design as "fascinating" at an awards ceremony in London on Wednesday. The design, a smart harness for cows, converts methane into carbon dioxide and water vapor. Cows expel significant quantities of methane, an odorless greenhouse gas, which...

HEADQUARTERS OF THE POTOMAC, BEFORE YORKTOWN, Tuesday, April 29. To the Associated Press: The rebels are apparently just realizing the fact that Gen. McCLELLAN is making extensive preparations to open the second siege of Yorktown. Up to yesterday, the works of our troops have steadily progressed, directly under the enemy's eyes, without any response from their guns, except an occasional shot sent to inform us that they were still there. Our earthworks are now beginning to present a very formidable appearance to the enemy, and all day yesterday and last night they kept up a brisk fire on them, with...

What we have witnessed so far is just the beginning of the story. The global response to the COVID pandemic during 2020 and 2021 created the most epic supply chain crisis in modern times, and now “black swan events” such as the war in Ukraine and the bird flu pandemic are making that supply chain crisis even worse. Unfortunately, more global difficulties are coming. There will be more war, there will be more pestilences, there will be more natural disasters, and even the United Nations is admitting that we are heading into the worst global food crisis since World War...

Speaking to reporters after a visit to Kyiv, Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin said the U.S. wanted to see Russia “weakened to the extent that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine.”

When Elon Musk tweeted on Friday, “The far left hates everyone, themselves included!” the only thing he got wrong was his use of the word “far.” The hatred, anger and resentment of liberals is not exclusive to the extreme Democrat. It’s now the entire party. When was the last time anyone encountered a happy Democrat? They don’t exist. They’re perpetually miserable, annoyed that normal people have moved on from COVID, offended that anyone objects to public schools teaching 7-year-olds about sexual identity, and frustrated that their fetish with “critical race theory” (also known as “how to properly hate whites!”) isn’t...

Russia previously insisted on completing payments in rubles. Russia appeared to narrowly avoid default on Friday as it paid off a number of overdue international debts in dollars, reversing its recent policy requiring transactions occur in rubles. The finance ministry said it paid $564.8 million on a 2022 Eurobond and $84.4 million on a 2042 bond in dollars, as specified on the bonds, Reuters reported.

Three weeks ago, we learned that Judge Ketanji Brown-Jackson was confirmed to the US Supreme Court. Just like that, the SCOTUS has been further reduced in stature to an affirmative action hire giveaway program, rather like a DMV office that has the power to override laws. Anyone who’s been paying attention to trends in late-stage Weimerica shouldn’t be surprised by this, however. It has become a truism in modern America that our institutions - across the board - no longer function as they should, and that many of them barely function at all. While this can be partially attributed to...

The mother of “martyred” Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist Muhammad Jahjouh said in an interview on Al-Quds Al-Youm TV (Islamic Jihad-Gaza) that she prays for her entire family, including her grandchildren, to be “martyred” for the sake of Allah. According to a report by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), the mother said in the April 16 interview that she approves of the “path” taken by her eldest son. “I always pray that I, your father, brothers, daughters, and sons … that all of you become martyrs for the sake of Allah, that when death comes for us, we will...

NEW DELHI (AP) — An unusually early, record-shattering heat wave in India has reduced wheat yields, raising questions about how the country will balance its domestic needs with ambitions to increase exports and make up for shortfalls due to Russia’s war in Ukraine. Gigantic landfills in India’s capital New Delhi have caught fire in recent weeks. Schools in eastern Indian state Odisha have been shut for a week and in neighboring West Bengal, schools are stocking up on oral rehydration salts for kids. On Tuesday, Rajgarh, a city of over 1.5 million people in central India, was the country’s hottest,...

Gov. Ron DeSantis said Friday that he will sign a bill allowing constitutional carry in Florida before he leaves the governor’s office. Right now, people need concealed weapons permits to walk around with a gun in Florida. Constitutional carry means that permit requirement goes away.

ATLANTA (AP) — Add one more group of contests to the white-hot races for Congress and governor that will dominate this year’s midterm elections: secretaries of state. Former President Donald Trump’s attempts to reverse the results of the 2020 election and his subsequent endorsements of candidates for state election offices who are sympathetic to his view have elevated those races to top-tier status. At stake, say Democrats and others concerned about fair elections, is nothing less than American democracy. “If they win the general election, we’ve got real problems on our hands,” said former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman,...

Uniper said it had no choice but to follow Russia's conversion planGerman energy company Uniper has conceded to Russia’s demands and will utilize the ruble conversion plan outlined by Moscow despite concerns it will undermine sanctions. Moscow threatened to pull the plug on Europe’s gas supply unless the companies fulfilled their payments in rubles. The Kremlin worked with Russian gas company Gazprombank to establish a system that would allow companies to deposit foreign currency in one account while Gazprom would complete the transactions in rubles. Uniper said Thursday that it had no choice but to use the system, and a...
