It’s time to get down to brass tacks. We at The Takeout spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about food, and on certain divisive topics—pizza, hot dogs, french fries, mayonnaise—we have taken a stance from which you will not sway us. Since no amount of lively debate will change our minds on these issues, we present them here proudly and unapologetically, daring all of you to challenge their wisdom. What follows are our most controversial food opinions, and we hope you chime in with your agreement or dissent. In either case, we’ll know in our hearts we’re right. Mayo...

Kristan Hawkins, mother, podcaster, and president of Students for Life of America, says that she and her family are saying goodbye to Disney World and all it entails. What are the details? In a fiery op-ed for Fox News, Hawkins said that she's heartbroken over what she describes as Disney's "more progressive" slant. "Upon watching its newest movie with Pixar entitled 'Turning Red,' it’s clear that the clock has finally struck midnight for Disney’s era of whimsical fairy tales with moral lessons," she wrote. "Gone are the innocent days of 'bibbity-bobbity-boo;' Disney has now transformed into a political propaganda machine...

Jennifer Siebel Newsom, wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom, got a jump on the Oscars by posting a TikTok video of “5 Golden State trailblazers to celebrate this Women's History Month.” One of her top choices twice ran for vice president with the Communist Party USA, and is now a big supporter of Joe Biden. “We will have to campaign for, and vote for Joe Biden,” because a vote for Biden is a vote “for ourselves.” That was Angela Davis, in a June 15, 2020 interview with Russia Today. Davis is also on record that “history cannot be deleted like...

In the name of Allah, the merciful and compassionate," Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority leader, said, "we would like to welcome Secretary Clinton." "Blinken," someone corrected him. "Sorry, Blinken," the 86-year-old Islamic terrorist leader said. Secretary of State Blinken had to travel thousands of miles away to find a leader even more unpopular and out of it than the one he had left behind at the White House. That was last year. This year, Abbas got Blinken’s name right and not much else. After 17 years (and just one election), Abbas has seen a lot of secretaries of state come...

A record $31 million award to a mom and pop bakery that accused a liberal Ohio college of ruining its business with false accusations of racism has been upheld by a state appeals court. Gibson's Bakery, a 135-year-old family business near the campus of Oberlin College, was initially awarded more than $40 million in punitive and compensatory damages in the aftermath of a 2016 incident in which the owner's son confronted three black Oberlin students who were stealing wine from the store. Although the suspects were arrested and later admitted they were shoplifting, the episode touched off school-sanctioned protests and...

A King County agency hosted a radical seminar that claimed dieting and traditional concepts of health are racist. But it was the rules for who could attend that were racist: it purposefully excluded white people. In fact, when a white person showed up, he was banned from the meeting. And county officials tried to cover this controversy up. The King County Department of Human Resources announced the remote workshop, “Anti-Blackness and Diet Culture,” in an all-staff email newsletter. It was part of the county’s Balanced You program, which focuses on staff wellness. Tacoma-based Liberating Jasper, which conducted the workshop, claims...

That indispensable source of information on Muslim lands and peoples, MEMRI, has just carried a report on a speech given by Yousef Makharzah, a Palestinian Islamic scholar, in which he accuses the Europeans of every conceivable atrocity, including having “sex with animals and beasts more than with humans.” MEMRI’s report is here: “Palestinian Islamic Scholar Yousef Makharzah: Europeans Practice Bestiality, Sleep With Animals More Than With Humans; Western Civilization Is Inferior, Asinine, Racist,” MEMRI, March 6, 2022: Palestinian Islamic scholar Yousef Makharzah said in a March 6, 2022 speech that aired on the Hizb-ut-Tahrir-affiliated Al-Waqiyah TV (Lebanon) that Syrian refugees...

Hatem Fariz, a convicted member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) who runs a Tampa, Florida-based PIJ-linked mosque, was traveling around Israel this month. He had just been there in November. Of course, this is troubling. A member of one of the most brutal terrorist organizations in the world, which regularly targets Israelis with death, is taking trips to the Jewish state. Two simple questions come to mind: 1. Why is Fariz being allowed in? and 2. What are his intentions? This article will attempt to answer both. On the morning of February 20, 2003, University of South Florida (USF) professor...

I was in the midst of another cancer scare. Imaging tests were ordered, and then blood tests. No cancer – Yay! – but the blood tests revealed that I needed to increase the dosage of a medication for an unrelated chronic illness. Wednesday, March 23, 2022, was gray and drizzly. I don't like to leave the apartment anywhere near sunset, but this medicine was important. I said the prayer I always say before opening my door. "God be with me as I walk. Saint Joseph protect my home. Saint Christopher protect my steps." I set out for the CVS, three...

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Homosexual rights advocates sued Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday to block a new law that forbids classroom instruction on homosexual and transgender topics in kindergarten through third grade. The law states: “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.” Parents would be able to sue districts over violations. The challenge filed in federal court in Tallahassee on behalf of Equality Florida and Family...

Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah suggested that he'd favor cutting retirement benefits for younger Americans in a bid to stabilize safety net programs. "If we're ever going to get a handle on our debt, we're gonna have to find a way to either increase revenue, which I don't favor, or find a way to adjust our long-term benefits not for current retirees," he said at a Senate Budget Committee hearing on Wednesday, seemingly ruling out any tax hikes. "But for younger people coming along, we got to be able to find a way to balance these programs or we're gonna...

Ahmed Binyamin Alasiri, formerly known as Kevin Lamar James, had a new lease on life. According to the Department of Justice, he had served sixteen years in prison for plotting jihad attacks against “U.S. military operations and Israeli and Jewish facilities in Southern California.” But now he was out, and it was time to turn his life around and make something of himself, right? Not quite: on Monday, Alasiri was sentenced to fifteen and a half years in prison for selling meth while he was on supervised release. A Florida man incident on the Left Coast? Maybe. Or maybe something...

The U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on March 31 announced that it will not regulate the chemical called perchlorate in drinking water. Perchlorate is widely used in rocket fuel and munitions, fertilizers, and is also a component of fireworks and airbag initiators for vehicles, among other things. While it can occur naturally, high concentrations have been found in at least 26 states, typically near military bases and defense contractors in the U.S. West, particularly around Las Vegas and in Southern California. Human exposure to high levels of the chemical has been linked to a deficiency of iodide in the thyroid...
