In contrast to SARS and MERS, there is no direct evidence for a natural spillover of COVID-19. Neither the virus nor antibodies to the virus have been identified in animals sampled in Wuhan in 2019 or early 2020. In an article currently undergoing peer review, Gao et al. found that zero out of 457 samples taken from 18 species of animals sampled in Wuhan in early 2020 tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. In addition, no correlation has been observed between human occupational exposures to animals and higher rates of infection or seropositivity to the virus.

DUBAI (Reuters) - By single-handedly knocking 13% off rocketing oil prices on one day this week, the United Arab Emirates demonstrated the power Gulf producers wield in the market and sent a wake-up call to Washington to pay closer attention to its longtime allies. OPEC heavyweights Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which both bear grudges against Washington, have snubbed U.S. pleas to use their spare output capacity to tame rampant crude prices which threaten global recession after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This was deliberate," Gulf Research Center Chairman Abdulaziz Sager said of the conflicting UAE comments, adding that the message...

Vice President Kamala Harris has been criticized for breaking into laughter Thursday after she was asked whether the US will take in Ukrainian refugees. The awkward moment took place during a joint press conference with Poland President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw. The two leaders had been asked similar questions about the US accepting Ukrainian refugees or otherwise easing pressure on Poland’s strained humanitarian resources. After the reporter had posed her questions, Harris and Duda looked at each other as if each expected the other to respond first. “A friend in need is a friend indeed,” the veep added before laughing...

The national average price of gas soared to a record high for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday. Increasing six cents overnight, the price of gas is now $4.318, a 59-cent increase from last week. Thursday’s record-setting price is the fourth consecutive day that prices have reached an all-time high. Gas prices rose about one dollar before the run-up to the Ukrainian war and subsequently 75 cents since the invasion of Ukraine. But the White House has blamed the massive price hike only on the war, dubbing it “Putin’s price hike.” The White House has also claimed that the oil...

Parents are “not entitled” to know their kids’ gender identity, according to a recent woke training session in the Eau Claire Area School District. Empower Wisconsin has obtained a copy of a training slide from last Friday’s staff development session. The 2021-22 Equity session on Safe Spaces reminds teachers that “parents are not entitled to know their kids’ identities. That knowledge must be earned.” “Teachers are often straddling this complex situation. In ECASD, our priority is supporting the student,” the professional development facilitator guide states. Teachers were encouraged to “Talk amongst yourselves!” The lesson — that teachers know better than...

I briefly mentioned another "Sex Camp" in Quick Hits yesterday. That one in Indianapolis This one -- in Kentucky -- might be worse. The only positive I can think of is that this is not being forced on children by agents of the state through compulsory government "education." This is a private organization, and they're telling parents right up front: We're going to teach your kids how to masturbate with a "hands on" demonstration ("on hands!," they emphasize), and we're going to teach them about the joys and wonders of homosexuality and transgenderism. So this isn't Trojan Horse stuff. They're...

I hope a few people find this article as fascinating as I do. Nims Purja, a Gurkha and former British SBS Special Operator, quit the military in an attempt to climb the 14 highest mountains in the world in 7 months. The previous record for climbing all 14 mountains was over 7 years, but this guy said he could do it in 7 months. Only 14 mountains in world are taller than 8,000 meters (more than 26,200 feet) and he has now climbed all 14. He summitted to the peak of Mt. Everest, came down, partied for 2 days and...

The nation's largest pediatric hospital has announced it has stopped transgender therapies for kids. The move comes after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ordered the state's child welfare agency to investigate reports of gender-change treatments for children as abuse. Texas Children's Hospital, located in Houston, announced that its decision to stop such hormone-related prescription therapies was made after it reviewed Abbott's order. The governor's order came after Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton released a non-binding legal opinion last month labeling certain gender-change treatments as "child abuse." As CBN News reported, Paxton released a formal opinion saying performing certain "sex-change" procedures on...

CNBC’s on-air editor Rick Santelli has had it with the Biden administration’s gaslighting on the skyrocketing inflation plaguing the U.S. economy. The Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report March 10 showing that inflation shot up 7.9 percent on a year-to-year basis in February for the highest level in more than 40 years and slightly beat expectations. The index for gasoline prices, which spiked 6.6 percent, was one of the three “largest contributors to the seasonally adjusted all items increase” and “accounted for almost a third of the all items monthly increase,” the report says. After reciting the devastating inflation...

The Harris County elections commissioner is resigning after 10,000 uncounted ballots for last week’s primary were discovered, according to an announcement posted online on Monday. “Today I am submitting my resignation, effective July 1,” Isabel Longoria said in the announcement. “I think this date ensures that there is a presiding officer during the May and June elections and allows the election commission the time they need to find a replacement. I remain committed to the office and its mission and hope to aid in defeating harmful rhetoric to ensure successful elections in the future.” It’s not clear exactly why Longoria...

Ballot drop boxes should be placed at gas stations, talk radio host Andrew Wilkow said on Wednesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s The Wilkow Majority. “If Joe Biden is so confident that the rest of us don’t think he holds any blame here, then how about this one?” Wilkow asked. “Why don’t we start putting ballot drop boxes at gas stations and start the early voting now? You want early voting? You want convenience? Let’s start voting at gas stations right now, Joe Biden. Let’s have the midterms start right now. Put drop boxes next to the pump and see who gets...
