Throughout our ongoing struggles with China, one key battle appears to have already been won by our adversary: the battle for arts and entertainment. Boasting a population of over 1.4 billion people, many of whom have the financial means to pay for and consume a wide variety of forms of entertainment, their market share for television, movies and art rivals that of the actual country that produces the films -- the United States. With a powerful government that has no qualms about restricting both media and the messages that their citizens consume, China has the ability to cut a movie's...

The Holocaust is a 77-year old story. Yet Whoopi Goldberg got in trouble last week for getting a major aspect of it wrong. On January 31’s edition of “The View,” Goldberg said that the Holocaust was not about race. The context was a discussion about the book, Maus, being banned by a Tennessee public school board because of nudity and profanity. Goldberg said: “I’m surprised that’s what made you uncomfortable, the fact that there was some nudity. I mean, it’s about the Holocaust, the killing of six million people, but that didn’t bother you? If you’re going to do this,...

At the top of the list of accusers is the head of the radical leftist New Democratic Party, Fidel Castro sympathizer Jagmeet Singh, who has attributed the popularity and success of the “Freedom Convoy” to “Trumpism” and “foreign actors,” without evidence. (snip) Writing at the Globe and Mail on Tuesday, columnist Gary Mason adopted Singh’s terminology and branded the Canadian civil rights protesters with the 2016 terminology “alt-right,” describing the entire concept of “freedom” as having been hijacked by extremists and no longer legitimate.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3). The series of conditional blessings Jesus promises, beginning with this verse and continuing through verse 12, are known as the Beatitudes. This name refers to a state of happiness or bliss. The blessedness promised in each is a divine characteristic, one that men and women can realize only as they share in God’s nature (cf. 2 Peter 1:4). When believers are truly blessed, they don’t experience merely an external, circumstantial feeling of happiness, but a deep sense of spiritual contentedness and well-being based on the...

As the average American wakes up from their slumber, feeling like they’re in Venezuela, know you aren’t alone. Our ruling class has spent decades getting high off our money supply while the rest of us worked to survive. We woke up to inflation nation, and before I go any further, I want to make sure we don’t lose sight of what inflation means. By definition, inflation is an increase in the money supply. We hear inflation used to describe rising prices, but I want to clarify what it means. When used as a term to describe an increase in prices,...

“At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, ‘Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ Then Jesus called a little child to him, set him in the midst of them, and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven’” (Matthew 18:1-3, NKJV). Jesus began a later sentence with a word that means “in the light of this.” He was about to tie his next statement into the whole context of the lesson he’d been teaching about mixing works with the...

A Christian pastor from Utah trended nationally on social media for hours on Tuesday over a tweet he posted concerning female modesty. Though pastor Brian Sauvé received much support from men and women alike, he became a target for outraged feminists, some of whom sent Sauvé racy photos of their breasts and other body parts. “Dear Ladies,” started the tweet that set off Twitter. “There is no reason whatsoever for you to post pictures of yourself in low cut shirts, bikinis, bra and underwear, or anything similar—ever. Not to show your weight loss journey. Not to show your newborn baby....

The Democratic-controlled General Assembly just got a little more liberal leaning. State of play: On Wednesday, Democratic senators selected Boulder Democrat Steve Fenberg, the current majority leader, to serve as the next Senate president. Effective Feb. 23, Fenberg will replace current chamber leader Leroy Garcia, the term-limited Pueblo Democrat who is resigning to take a Defense Department job in Washington. An astute tactician, the 38-year-old former political operative, is one of the most progressive lawmakers in the Senate and...

One of the most consequential protests in recent memory happened last month – and most Americans probably didn’t even hear about it. Thousands of patriotic Americans, including a famous actress from Marvel, descended on Washington to march peacefully against the increasingly rigid vaccine mandates that are seeping into schools and public life. Though polling shows roughly half of the American people oppose such mandates, coverage from left-wing media outlets (when there was any coverage at all) condescendingly mischaracterized the marchers as “anti-vaxxers” or “extremist” and “fringe” activists. The same treatment happened with the March for Life in Washington the day...

Lightfoot claimed that the increase in carjackings was largely due to juveniles, whom the mayor said had created an atmosphere of “pervasive fear” among the city’s residents. Lightfoot then drew a direct correlation between the uptick in carjackings and youths who weren’t taking remote learning very seriously.
