The Kleven family is suing under the Child Wrongful Death Act. A minivan driven by Brooke Kleven slid off an icy University Drive in Mishawaka on Dec. 31, 2019, sinking into a retention pond. 4-year-old James and 2-year-old Natalie Kleven both died. Brooke and her 3-month-old son Hendrik miraculously survived. Three St Joseph County 911 dispatchers resigned in the wake of the crash. An investigation showed "multiple mistakes" were made handling the call, including locating the pond, mistakenly muting the phone, and how the call was dispatched-- first as an accident, not as a "vehicle in the water." The lawsuit...

As a young man, Italian immigrant Joseph Letizia shined shoes and mopped saloon floors, honed his skills as a WWI army chef, and, determined to be a good American, attended night school for history and English. His 1936 restaurant in Westport, Connecticut, called The Triangle, lasted only one year, but a second concept in Norwalk in 1937, Uncle Joe’s (which sold pizzas on weekends only), proved an immediate success, thanks to the area’s large Italian population...

Doors guitarist Robby Krieger says late bandmate Jim Morrison welcomed syphilis, arguing that he didn't fear going crazy. The potentially fatal sexually transmitted disease’s symptoms can include the loss of mental faculties, and has long been connected to the lives of 18th and 19th century artists. But the development of modern antibiotics means that it's no longer usually lethal. “I think Jim believed that life could be boring and that a lot of people were just going through the motions, so he would try to freak them out,” Krieger tells the Guardian. “He would do anything to add to the...

A dirty little secret withheld from people who seek help for gender distress is that cross-sex hormones are anabolic steroids and addictive in the same way that daily consumption of alcohol can lead to addiction. Gender clinics, now including Planned Parenthood, routinely prescribe cross-sex hormones on the first or second visit, and they neglect to disclose that steroids are addictive and distort one’s ability to make decisions. Steroid use makes people easy marks for the next step: surgery, such as mastectomy and genital reconfiguration, both of which mutilate healthy tissue. I am a biological man who submitted myself to cross-sex...

Obama’s defense department announcement on December 3 of 2015 about women in combat following repeal of DADT demonstrates attachment to a political ideology fueled by arrogance and reinforced by premeditated ignorance. The defense secretary Ash Carter’s supposed managing any long period of study and vigorous debate sought only those mutually supportive creatures that have metastasized throughout the military to serve a social agenda bringing future needless devastation. Most of the points highlighted about women in combat arose first when the decision was made to do away with DADT and invite the LGBTQ (whatever?) community into the mainstream of military operations. In...
