Colin Powell, 84, died Monday morning due to complications from Covid-19. Powell was fully vaccinated against the virus, his family said in a statement. Powell was elderly, a known risk for severe Covid, and suffered from multiple myeloma, a blood cancer that studies show can make the shots less effective. A study published in late July found that only 45% of patients with active multiple myeloma developed an "adequate" immune response after getting vaccinated with either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines. Just 22% of patients in the study had a "partial" response.... Offit said fully vaccinated people with weak immune...

Former President Donald Trump says he would not mandate COVID-19 vaccines if he were still in office because he’d “sell it” to people to take voluntarily. President Biden last month announced that most federal workers must get vaccinated or face losing their jobs and that companies with 100 or more employees must require shots or regular testing — drawing pushback from critics who accused him of overreach. “I wouldn’t say to anybody, ‘You have to.’ But I would sell it. Look, I’m very proud of what we did with the vaccines,” Trump told political news host Bill O’Reilly in an...

The chaotic moves in various energy markets around the world have spread to the metals markets with copper inventories available on the LME plunging to the lowest on record (since 1974), in a dramatic escalation of a squeeze on global supplies that sent spreads spiking and helped drive prices back above $10,000 a ton. Copper tracked by LME warehouses that’s not already earmarked for withdrawal has plunged 89% this month after a surge in orders for metal from warehouses in Europe. As Bloomberg reports, the last time that type of dynamic developed was during a historic squeeze in 2006, when a...

Some governors have noted President Joe Biden’s lack of engagement with states regarding the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic. His administration continues the practice of weekly conference calls with governors, which started under President Donald Trump, but Biden himself has yet to attend. His vice president, Kamala Harris, has only briefly attended one call and took no questions, according to several governors. The lack of engagement has disappointed some governors, who said they can’t even tell if their feedback, questions, and requests are reaching the president or not. Some have stopped attending the calls, considering them no longer useful....

Less than a week after CNN scrambled to do damage control after their chief medical correspondent was wrecked by Joe Rogan over Ivermectin lies, the network may have another fire to put out… Indeed, days after anchor Don Lemon attempted to salvage CNN‘s reputation over Sanjay Gupta’s truth outburst with Rogan, host Brian Stelter made the mistake of allowing former NYT Editor Bari Weiss on air to discuss examples of why the world has gone mad. Stelter’s first mistake was having Weiss on his show, “Reliable Sources.” His second mistake was asking her to elaborate on what she means when...

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg has been on parental leave since mid-August. During his absence a massive backlog of cargo has been unable to dock and unload in southern California. An estimated 250,000 containers of merchandise await transportation to retail centers where customers can buy it. This has spawned enough dissatisfaction that the memes "#EmptyShelvesJoe" and "#BareShelvesBiden" are trending on Twitter. Nettled by demands to know why he wasn't doing his job, a testy Buttigieg temporarily emerged from his home to lash out at "the invasion of my privacy. If everyone must know, my husband and I have been spending...

The FDA this week said that Lupin Pharmaceuticals is recalling batches of its Irbesartan Tablets and Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets. Doctors use the medication to treat hypertension, low blood pressure, and symptoms in patients with type 2 diabetes. An analysis of the medication revealed that some batches had excessive levels of N-nitrosoirbesartan. The FDA notes that the substance is a probable human carcinogen. Lupin says that it’s received 4 incident reports of illness from Irbesartan tablets. The company hasn’t seen any illness reports from the Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide medication. Possible symptoms from the medication include excitation and depression. More serious...

You can tell by the TV ads that are running in the D.C. metro market that the Terry McAuliffe campaign is in deep trouble. The essence of the Democrat’s pitch, in the off-year gubernatorial campaign, is that Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin is a puppet of Donald Trump.Let’s be clear about just who Glenn Youngkin actually is — a Richmond native who attended Rice University on a basketball scholarship (he’s 6-7), majored in engineering and management, and later got an MBA from Harvard. He spent 25 years with the Carlyle Group investment firm. If he is, or ever was, an extremist,...

Liberty Counsel filed a class action lawsuit Oct. 15, 2021, against Joseph R. Biden, Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security on behalf of members from all branches of the military, federal employees and federal civilian contractors. The lawsuit is regarding unlawful COVID vaccine mandates that result in dishonorable discharge or termination of employment if refused. Since this has been filed as a class action lawsuit, people have been inquiring about joining or being named in the suit. That option is not yet available as certification of the class action is still pending. Until then, Liberty Counsel motioned for...

After faring thus badly the enemy departed, while the Greeks continued their march unmolested through the remainder of the day and arrived at the Tigris river. Here was a large deserted city; its name was Larisa, and it was inhabited in ancient times by the Medes. Its wall was twenty-five feet in breadth and a hundred in height, and the whole circuit of the wall was two parasangs. It was built of clay bricks, and rested upon a stone foundation twenty feet high... Near by this city was a pyramid of stone, a plethrum in breadth and two plethra in...

While we are almost a year away from the midterms, a special election in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District this November may provide important insights into what we can expect in 2022. The 15thdistrict typically favors Republicans who have about a 9-point advantage in voter registration, but pro-life Republican Mike Carey is facing a strong opponent in EMILY’s List-backed State Representative Allison Russo (D). *** Mike Carey is pro-life, and he is endorsed by National Right to Life and Ohio Right to Life PAC. He supports commonsense laws to protect unborn children and their mothers, and he opposes the use of...

The Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) reportedly voted to sever its ties Thursday with the National School Boards Association (NSBA) after the group sent a letter to President Joe Biden seeking federal law enforcement help to deal with parents opposed to Critical Race Theory (CRT) and mask mandates. The PSBA reportedly circulated an internal memo regarding the issue that drew a national firestorm after U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland responded to the NSBA letter by stating he would mobilize the FBI against parents who voiced concerns at local school board meetings, possibly identifying them as “domestic terrorists,” as NSBA requested. NEW:...

...Even so, stocks have seen huge gains relative to wages. What then to make of the growth of the Dow? The more-than-fivefold gains for the tech-heavy Nasdaq? Is it a sign of an economic system badly tilted toward the wealthy? Proof that financial markets exist in an alternate universe of capitalism, ever expanding as the prospects for so many millions continue shrinking? These days the politically fashionable solution is to ratchet up the corporate tax rate from the current rate of 21 percent to as high as 28 percent, raise the rate on long-term capital gains from 20 percent to as...

Astronomers have used a planet-hunting satellite to see a white dwarf abruptly switching on and off for the first time. The researchers led by Durham University, UK, used NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) to observe the unique phenomenon. White dwarfs are what most stars become after they have burned off the hydrogen that fuels them. They are approximately the size of the Earth, but have a mass closer to that of the Sun. The white dwarf observed by the team is known to be accreting, or feeding, from an orbiting companion star. With the new observations astronomers saw it...

Over the objection of Joe Biden’s Justice Department, a lengthy video clip showing U.S. Capitol Police allowing hundreds of people into the building on the afternoon of January 6 has been released to the public. In July, Ethan Nordean, an alleged Proud Boy member charged for various crimes now held in a Seattle jail awaiting trial, petitioned the court to remove the “highly sensitive” designation on surveillance video that recorded Nordean entering the building with permission by U.S. Capitol Police. A group called the Press Coalition, representing news organizations including CNN, the New York Times, and the three major broadcast...
