The excitement in San Francisco is palpable. As SFGate, an independent spin-off of the San Francisco Chronicle, boasts, "San Francisco achieves yet another first in LGBTQ+ history with transgender bishop." The huge Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), with its 3.3 million members nationwide, is proud of itself. It shouldn't be. The decision to give an archbishopric to a man who claims to have magically become a woman because he wants to be is profoundly anti-biblical. The appointment is also an insult to coherent grammar and, as I've argued in the past, proof that nobody on the left really believes...

What's happening: Stocks in Europe tumbled Monday morning after Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped 3.3%, suffering its worst decline in nearly two months. Shares of Evergrande Group (EGRNF) plummeted 10% in Hong Kong, hitting just 2.28 Hong Kong dollars ($0.29) per share. The stock has shed 84% so far this year. Step back: Fear is growing about how the crisis at Evergrande will reverberate through the financial system. Over the last few weeks, China's most indebted developer — which has more than $300 billion...

Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says COVID-19 may have emerged in Wuhan much earlier than when the first cases were originally confirmed. In an exclusive interview with Sky News Australia journalist Sharri Markson, the Trump administration secretary of state said there was a “cumulative weight of evidence” which suggested COVID-19 came from a Wuhan lab. “There was enormous, albeit indirect evidence, that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was the centre point for this,” Mr Pompeo said. “I've seen data points that place it in the summertime of 2019, late summer, July, August of 2019. “I've seen no evidence...

The former United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be at Queen's University on Friday to be inaugurated as chancellor. The ceremony will be held at the end of the first week of the new academic year. Before that, more than 50,000 students return to campuses in universities in Northern Ireland on Monday. They will receive face-to-face teaching on campus again after most spent the 2020/21 year being taught remotely. However, elements of some degree courses may still be delivered online. Mrs Clinton was appointed to the role of chancellor of Queen's in January 2020.

While Mike Pence was lauded by Democrats — and widely criticized by the president and the Republican base — for his refusal to overturn the results of the election won by Joe Biden in 2020, it turns out that a different vice president may have been responsible for the decision. In the upcoming book Peril, Robert Costa and Bob Woodward write that then-Vice President Pence reached out to 74-year-old Dan Quayle — who served as vice president from 1989 to 1993 under President George H. W. Bush — in the waning days of the Trump presidency. "Over and over, Pence...

The Democrats are trying to alter the basic nature of our Republic with the slimmest of congressional majorities. This alone violates the long held understanding that serious long-term changes properly ought to be supported by both parties. But, in trying to bypass Senate filibuster rules by including extraneous legislation under the rubric of "budget reconciliation," they have run into an obstacle from the nonpartisan Senate parliamentarian, who did not buy their argument that legalizing 8 million people is mostly about the budget. Marianne Levine writes in Politico:The Senate parliamentarian on Sunday rejected Democrats' push to include a pathway to legal...

Elon Musk took a swipe at President Biden after the commander-in-chief failed to acknowledge SpaceX’s completion of its first all-civilian mission, in which four amateur astronauts orbited Earth for three days. One of Musk’s 60 million Twitter followers pointed out that the White House and Biden had yet to comment on the mission, which successfully returned to Earth Saturday evening. “The President of the United States has refused to even acknowledge the 4 newest American astronauts who helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars for St. Jude,” user @rhensing wrote. “What’s your theory on why that is?” “He’s still sleeping,”...

Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Mike Lee (R-UT) personally evaluated President Trump’s wild claims of vote fraud in the 2020 election—and found them to be far from convincing, according to Bob Woodward and Robert Costa’s new book, Peril. After Trump’s former personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, presented Graham with their fraud case, the loyalist senator reportedly called the arguments appropriate for “third grade.” Graham’s lawyer couldn’t corroborate any of Trump’s claims, ultimately finding that they “added up to nothing,” according to the book. “Holmes found the sloppiness, the overbearing tone of certainty, and the inconsistencies disqualifying,” the book says.

Pray For The Peace of JerusalemProverbs 21In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him. 2 A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart. 3 To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. 4 Haughty eyes and a proud heart— the unplowed field of the wicked—produce sin. 5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. 6 A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor...

Two bills in Congress could expand the UAP task force, or set up a permanent office to study sightings of these unknown objects. Section 1652 of H.R. 4350 — a provision added by Democratic Congressman Ruben Gallego of Arizona — would establish a permanent office to study UAPs within the Office of the Secretary of Defense. If the provision remains unchanged when the bill becomes law, it will charge the new office with creating a database for recording UAP incidents and “evaluating links between unidentified aerial phenomena and adversarial foreign governments, other foreign governments, or non-state actors,” and whether the...

More en route, as DHS claims that thousands have already been deported. _______________________________________________________________________________ More than 14,000 people have congregated illegally underneath the Del Rio-Ciudad Acuna International Bridge on the Texas side of the southern border after having waded across the Rio Grande River from Mexico. "Blue check-mark Libs demanding Biden have full open borders," Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted, with a photo of a man crossing the river on crutches. "They see nothing wrong with 10,500 illegal immigrants massing under the Del Rio bridge, and 1000s more coming every day. This is not 'enlightened.' It's inhumane and barbaric." With...

More Republican governors across the United States are publicly supporting President Joe Biden’s massive refugee resettlement operation out of Afghanistan which is set to bring at least 95,000 Afghans to the U.S. over the next year. Last week, the Biden administration announced that the first group of roughly 36,000 Afghans brought to the U.S. at rapid speed will be resettled across 46 states — including Texas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

Officials say Judge Christopher Cooper's ties to leading Democrats and key figure in discredited Trump-Russia probe should disqualify him from case of Michael Sussmann, lawyer who fed anti-Trump dirt to FBI while hiding connection to Hillary Clinton campaign. ________________________________________________________________________________ Last week, the special counsel appointed to oversee the probe into the FBI's investigation of former president Donald Trump indicted Michael Sussmann, a lawyer for the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. Republicans and Trump allies are optimistic about the latest development in John Durham's investigation but are still concerned that Attorney General Merrick Garland might halt the investigation to protect allies...

President Biden told Americans to expect an era of unity and normality after four years of disruption. What they got was a chief executive unable to cope with the overlapping crises of the coronavirus pandemic, consumer price inflation, illegal immigration, crime and a botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. Yet there is one thing that Biden has restored to good working order: the DC gravy train. In Biden’s Washington, well-connected liberal Democrats in the influence industry have no problem enriching themselves. The world is a mess but the Swamp is as fetid as ever. Not long after taking office, Biden issued an...
