The White House abruptly cut the feed of President Biden's briefing on wildfires with federal and state officials. During Monday's visit to Boise, Idaho, Biden received a briefing about the ongoing wildfires that have plagued several states out west. While Biden spoke for much of the briefing, at one point he said he wanted to hear more from George Geissler of the National Association of State Foresters. BIDEN AGAIN SUGGESTS HE'S NOT CALLING THE SHOTS: âIâM SUPPOSED TO STOP AND WALK OUT' "Can I ask you a question?" Biden asked. "Of course," Geissler responded. "One of the things that I've...

****Here's the point. Notice how they base breakthrough cases on the 5.9 million vaccinated. Yet, when Alpha Covid numbers were ONLY based off of confirmed cases. Do the math for both based on CONFIRMED cases---it ain't much different. You can't use a different metric for Covid cases and breakthrough cases. If that's the cases then use 660,000 deaths divided by 360 million USA citizens = 0.00183% death rate. As of Aug. 30, 18,390 fully vaccinated people had tested positive for the virus in New Jersey. That’s about 0.35% of the 5.3 million people who were fully vaccinated by that day....

“We need to work out how we break this vicious circle,” which is leaving shelves empty of goods across the world, said Morten Engelstoft, chief executive of Maersk-owned APM Terminals. In Engelstoft’s view, the crisis was created by surging demand putting strain on container groups, suppliers and logistics companies as they struggled to deliver goods. The boss of one of the world’s largest port and terminal operators does have a solution – stop buying so much shit!“We need lower [consumer demand] growth to give the supply chain time to catch up, or differently spread out growth. Over a long period...

It is the elephant in the genomics room: can extinct species be resurrected? One bioscience firm insists they can, announcing Monday its intent to use emerging technology to restore the woolly mammoth to the Arctic tundra. New company Colossal, capitalizing on a partnership with a Harvard geneticist, said its species "de-extinction" effort has the potential to anchor a working model for restoring damaged or lost ecosystems and thereby help slow or even halt the effects of climate change. "Never before has humanity been able to harness the power of this technology to rebuild ecosystems, heal our Earth and preserve its...

In Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, former President George W. Bush's theme was national unity -- and how it has been lost over these past 20 years. "In the weeks and months following the 9/11 attacks," said Bush, "I was proud to lead an amazing, resilient, united people. When it comes to the unity of America, those days seem distant from our own. A malign force seems at work in our common life that turns every disagreement into an argument, and every argument into a clash of cultures." Though he surely did not realize it, Bush had himself, moments before, given...

PORTLAND, Ore. — It's been one week since federal pandemic unemployment benefits ended. In the days following, restaurants across Portland tell KATU News they saw a spike in people looking for work. I’m old enough to remember when the Republican Party stood for limited government — when Ronald Reagan thundered “Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem." Today’s Republican Party, while still claiming to stand for limited government, is practicing just the opposite: government intrusion everywhere. Republican states are on the way to outlawing abortions. Texas has just banned abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, before many women even know they’re pregnant. Other Republican states are considering similar measures. Republican lawmakers are stopping schools from requiring students to wear masks. Iowa, Tennessee, Utah, Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma,...
