The changes are superficial, but they hint at a bigger cultural shift in an industry where well-cut suits and wingtips once symbolized swagger, memorialized in popular culture by Gordon Gekko in the movie “Wall Street” and Patrick Bateman in the film adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’s novel “American Psycho.” Even as many corporate workplaces around the country relaxed their dress codes in recent years, Wall Street remained mostly buttoned up. Consider the informal new dress code a "consolation prize" for staff frustrated about their return to the office. Like so much else, that changed in the pandemic. Big banking firms,...

Did anyone expect Joe Biden to screw things up so badly so quickly? I admit that I thought it would take longer for things to get as bad as now.I take no pleasure in this. Our country is hurting and paying a huge price for the Biden presidency, and it’s hard to imagine how such a dumpster fire was achieved in record time. But it seems like we traded mean tweets for gross incompetence, and believe me, given a choice, I think most of us would rather have the mean tweets back.Seriously, it feels like everything that Joe Biden touches...

The State Department and Department of Defense said in a statement Sunday that there are “thousands” of Americans stranded in Afghanistan after the Taliban declared victory over the U.S.-backed government earlier in the day. “Tomorrow and over the coming days, we will be transferring out of the country thousands of American citizens who have been resident in Afghanistan, as well as locally employed staff of the U.S. mission in Kabul and their families and other particularly vulnerable Afghan nationals,” they said in the statement. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden remained at Camp David, where he departed for vacation last Thursday. Since...

Are any of you going to defend Joe Biden at this point? Well, some of you voted for him, some of you cheated for him, and you own this mess. And those of you who did NOT vote for him, and who did NOT cheat for him–well, many of you actually own this mess too. Because there’s a good chance that your actions, and non-actions, over a period of years and even decades, depending on your age, has laid the groundwork for the American catastrophe. I can list a lot things that led up to the breathtaking American humiliation in...

A recent review of Indianapolis’ violence issues, specifically involving guns, from March 2018 to February 2020 found around 75% of people had multiple arrests before the homicide. IMPD said on average, both suspects and victims had more than 5 prior arrests. “The suspects, on average, were arrested at least seven times by the time of the homicide incident,” Allison Davids, Intelligence Analyst at the Crime Gun Intelligence Center, said. The report by the National Institute of Criminal Justice Reform also said at least 39% of homicides involve a group of three or more people committing violence. In these homicides, they...

The US Department of Defense could be planning to make room for some 30,000 Afghan refugees at US Army garrisons like Fort Bliss in Texas, and Fort McCoy in Wisconsin. This is according to a report from Jacqui Heinrich, a Fox News White House Correspondent. Heinrich cited documents obtained from an unnamed source at the Department of Defense, which she says shows the US plans to bring up to 30,000 Afghans into the US "in the immediate future." The incoming Afghans will be those who applied for Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs). These visas are given to those employed by, or...

Few countries have been battered so violently as Afghanistan. It has been roiled for decades by a war that is expected to escalate in coming months as foreign forces withdraw. There's deepening hunger and starvation. A severe drought is expected to displace hundreds of thousands as summer heat intensifies Then there's the pandemic. In recent weeks, there's been an exponential rise in cases, even with limited testing. (The Ministry of Public Health reports there's just been over 500,000 tests since the start of the pandemic for a population of about 40 million.) On June 16, there were 2,313 new cases,...

"These guys view themselves as this fanciful group of patriotic freedom fighters, the Second Coming of the Sons of Liberty, and there are many of them who are preparing for civil war right now." President Biden remained holed up at Camp David on Monday after spending the weekend largely out of sight while Afghanistan crumbled into chaos, with a senior adviser only able to say he would address the nation 'soon.' With the United Nations Security Council and European ministers due to hold crisis meetings to address the rapid return of the Taliban, Biden and his officials kept a low profile amid mounting questions about their bungling departure from Afghanistan. Email enquiries sent to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki over the weekend received an automated out-of-office response saying she would return on Aug....

If you need a useful idiot who presents a workable cardboard image on CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, NBC News, CBS News and FoxNews, you still have someone who is giving the 2,100 Oligarch Billionaires what they are after, right? Why are all the commentators directing their ire at the straw man, while ignoring the man behind the curtain?

There is an ever-increasing overlap between the anti-maskers/anti-vaxxers and sovereign citizen movements, not just in the United States, but in Canada, Australia and beyond. The former believe that COVID-19 poses minimal risk and that the government is overreacting by requiring individuals to protect themselves and others. Despite evidence to the contrary, they consider masks both ineffective and harmful and see vaccines as dangerous. COVID-19 mandates are seen as imposing upon their personal liberties.

The editorial board of The Wall Street Journal issued a forceful rebuke of President Biden's response to the crisis in Afghanistan, a calamity that Biden over the weekend suggested is partly the result of former President Trump's policy toward the war-torn nation. "President Biden’s statement on Saturday washing his hands of Afghanistan deserves to go down as one of the most shameful in history by a Commander in Chief at such a moment of American retreat," the editors wrote on Sunday. "As the Taliban closed in on Kabul, Mr. Biden sent a confirmation of U.S. abandonment that absolved himself of...

They deserted the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods from the gods of the peoples round them. They bowed down to these; they provoked the Lord; they deserted the Lord to serve Baal and Astarte. Then the Lord’s anger flamed out...
