There is a lot to be repelled by in the Spectacle of Barack Obama’s exercise in brazen self-indulgence, also a lot to be angry at.I think it is important, though, to look at it as a learning experience. Pretend you were Aesop. What moral would you draw from this exercise in exhibitionism?Doubtless there are several learning experiences to be had. But I thought that Rep. Jim Jordan perfectly articulated an important lesson in a tweet. Now we know, he wrote, that‘#COVID19 spreads at:-Church-School-Trump rallies-Motorcycle ralliesIt doesn’t spread at:-“Peaceful” protests-The southern border-Democrat wedding receptions-San Francisco hair salons-Governor Newsom’s dinner-President Obama’s birthday...

Was Trump right (again) after all? In August 2019, President Trump was ridiculed for reportedly expressing an interest in buying Greenland “Greenland is a strategic place… they’ve got a lot of valuable minerals,” he explained in August 2019, and he was right: Danish surveys have found that the owner of the island would stake a claim to around 900,000 sq km of the continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean. As we noted at the time, there is also – not surprisingly – a race for supremacy with China over the island’s future. So far, Washington has prevented Beijing from financing...

Peter Schirmacher, director of the Pathological Institute of the University of Heidelberg in Germany performed autopsies on over forty people who died within two weeks of their COVID vaccination. He concluded that 30% to 40% of these deaths were caused by the vaccinations. He called for more autopsies to be undertaken to confirm or refute his findings. Hoping to avert a panic, the Merkel administration quickly rebutted Schumacher’s findings calling them “incomprehensible” and “not the official view of the government. Our view is that the vaccines are safe and no further autopsies or investigations are necessary.” Immunologist Christian Bogdan from...

Gov. Tony Evers on Tuesday vetoed a number of bills authored by Republicans that would place new restrictions on Wisconsin voters following former President Donald Trump's election loss. The bills make significant changes to Wisconsin elections, such as making most people who are indefinitely confined — not able to get to the polls by themselves — provide a photo ID to vote. The legislation would also require all people who vote absentee to present a photo ID every time they vote, not just the first time. GOP lawmakers have said their election bills would help build trust in elections, but...

Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory... say researchers examining signs of past sea levels along various coasts may have failed to accurately correct for long-term ups and downs of the land itself. Based on newly sophisticated measurements made across the Bahamas along with new methods of analyzing data, the researchers produced lower—though still daunting—estimates for the last interglacial. They say seas peaked at least 1.2 meters (4 feet) higher than today—roughly in line with most current models for the next 100 years of so. However, they say, levels could have been higher. An unlikely upper limit, they say, is 5.3 meters...
