The House of Representatives voted Monday night to kill a resolution from Republican leader Kevin McCarthy to get his picks on Nancy Pelosi's Capitol Riot Select Committee. Republicans Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who many inside the GOP want to see punished for choosing to take their seats on the panel, voted against the measure with the vote finishing 218-197. McCarthy's resolution was the last bid to compel Pelosi to accept the five Republican members and allow them to be part of the investigation he has called a 'sham'.

Israel reported Monday a 4-month peak of positive test rate, as well as a continued rise in the number of new coronavirus cases and patients in serious condition, as the virulent delta variant spreads. Israeli Health Ministry recorded on Sunday 1,398 new COVID-19 cases with 108 people in serious condition, 20 of whom are on ventilators and 25 are in critical condition. Prominent activists Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev. William Barber II have been arrested during a sit-in at Senator Kyrsten Sinema's office in Phoenix, according to fellow protesters. Jackson and Barber took part in the protest on Monday with the full intent of being arrested, in order to draw attention to their demand to abolish the Senate filibuster, according to organizers.
