I was gravely disappointed with Judge Robert Benitez’s California federal court ruling that the Golden State’s ban on “assault weapons” like AR-15s is unconstitutional. It manifestly is unconstitutional, but the judge’s ruling does not go far enough. He should have found that our Constitution requires every healthy, law-abiding adult citizen to have a real assault rifle like an M16 – or, because diversity is important, an M4 – to defend his community and his country from all enemies both foreign and domestic. That’s my modest proposal du jour – make our peaceful and secure society’s free riders carry their own...

As a renewed sense of optimism sweeps the US this summer with lower reported Covid-19 cases, the US Surgeon General has issued a warning for those not vaccinated: don’t let your guard down quite yet. “For those who are unvaccinated, they are increasingly at risk as more and more variants develop,” Surgeon General Vivek Murthy told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Wednesday, specifically citing the B.1.617.2, or Delta variant, first identified in India. “The news about the Delta variant is evidence of really why it’s so important for us to get vaccinated as soon as possible,” he said, adding that the...

Witchcraft is the practice and belief in magical abilities. Witches and wizards are often labelled as pagans who were entrusted with devil's work. It dates back to classical antiquity, when women who held views against the church were labelled as witches and regarded as the portents of misfortune who were socially ostracized and even burnt to death in some cases. Norman Miller, a renowned activist stated: "Witchcraft in much of the developing world—Africa, India, Southeast Asia, the Pacific, Central and South America—is at the core a human rights issue because millions of people are victimized for bogus, non-rational, non-scientific reasons."...

Daunte Wright was 'an arch criminal' whose death at the hands of a white police officer in Minneapolis is being used to push 'false narratives', according to a lawyer representing the victims of two separate shootings the black man is accused of being involved in. Attorney Michael Padden told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview that the 20-year-old was a 'very serious criminal' who should never have been out on the streets on April 11, the day he was shot dead. Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler gave President Biden "four Pinocchios" for what he described as a "nonsensical" claim about Alzheimer's patients filling hospital beds in the not-too-distant future. Last Thursday, Biden had sounded the alarm about Alzheimer's disease during a speech on the economy. "You know, if we don’t do something about Alzheimer’s in America, every single, solitary hospital bed that exists in America—as the nurses can tell you—every single one will be occupied in the next 15 years with an Alzheimer’s patient—every one," Biden told the audience. ... Kessler continued, "Biden wants to show that he considers combating Alzheimer’s...

Illegal border crossings have exploded by 674 per cent in a year, with 180,034 recorded in May - the fourth consecutive monthly rise. Newly-released figures from U.S. Customs and Border Protection show the number of migrants rocketed by more than six-fold from the 23,237 who crossed from Mexico into the United States in May 2020. Last year's number was far lower than usual because of the COVID-19 outbreak, but this year's figures still spell worrying news for Joe Biden, with 2021 on-track to record the highest number of illegal border crossings since 2006.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) warned White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci to “cut the crap” Wednesday night after Fauci described criticism of him as “attacks on science.” “I know Dr. Fauci, I like Dr. Fauci, I respect Dr. Fauci,” Kennedy told Fox News’ “Hannity”. “But Dr. Fauci needs to cut the crap. This isn’t about Dr. Fauci. It’s not about his feelings, and I’m sorry if his feelings were hurt. Oregon communities must rewrite local rules to allow Oregonians to sit, lie, sleep and keep warm and dry on public property in most circumstances. House Bill 3115, which passed the Senate on Wednesday afternoon and is en route to Gov. Kate Brown’s desk, is a response to a 2018 landmark homelessness case that impacted most Western states with an intent to better support individuals experiencing homelessness. While local governments should already be following rules set forth by the case known as Martin v. Boise, the bill, written at the behest of House Speaker Tina Kotek, forces cities to officially change...

The two women were visiting the Manialtepec lagoon near the surf and beach destination of Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca state when the attack occurred late Sunday, reported Said Silva, the head of the local civil defense office. On the same day that local health officials announced that San Diego County would be shifting on Wednesday to the state's least restrictive, yellow tier, they also said a San Diegan who was fully vaccinated had died from COVID-19-associated illness in a "breakthough" case. In so-called coronavirus breakthrough infections, fully vaccinated people get the illness anyway, but the vaccines typically offer strong protection against severe disease. There are rare cases, however, that result in hospitalizations and, rarer still, deaths.
