Authorities have sealed off a hamlet in southern India after hundreds of people ignored a coronavirus lockdown and crowded the funeral of a horse considered divine in local tradition, a government official said on Tuesday (May 25). The containment measures were introduced after around 400 people in a hamlet near the town of Gokak in Karnataka state gathered at a local Hindu monastery for the horse's funeral on Sunday, Gokak administration official Prakash Holeppagol said. Scientists in Sweden have developed a simple and reliable tool for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease in its earliest stages. The prototype analyzes the results of a single blood test and three cognitive exams, which take only ten minutes to complete. With just that information, the new algorithm was able to predict with 90 percent certainty which patients with mild cognitive impairment would go on to develop Alzheimer's within four years. Compared to current diagnostic methods, that's a big improvement. In early tests of the prototype, dementia experts - who use a person's medical history and brain scans to make their diagnosis...

Convinced he was taking an X-ray via the phone, as instructed by who he thought was a police officer, the student posed topless, blindfolded and gagged, while on a video call. The 21-year-old believed he was speaking to a police officer from China, who had told him there was an outstanding warrant against him for money laundering offences. But the "officer" was actually a scammer, who then sent a recording of the student blindfolded and gagged to his parents in China, demanding they pay a ransom of 6 million yuan ($1.2 million). The scammers had contacted the student earlier this...

Officials in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, have unanimously approved the district attorney to investigate the recent primary election after on-screen ballots mislabeled Republican ballots as Democrat candidates. (The Times Leader) – […] Dominion Voting Systems Inc., which supplied and programs the devices, said “human error” at the company caused the data entry typographical mistake that put a Democratic header at the top of Republican ballots. The county administration also acknowledged the county did not test the ballots after they were programmed into the machines, relying on the company to do that task....

Senate Republicans appear to be backing down from a threat to block legislation aimed at combating China’s competitiveness. The bill, a top priority of Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), was garnering threats from top Republicans that they would block the bill from getting the 60 votes needed to advance and ultimately pass amid frustration about the slow pace of amendment votes. But a handful of amendments happening Tuesday night, and more expected on Wednesday and Thursday, appears to be alleviating some of the pressure and helping clear a path for the bill.

The goals of feminism define the left’s understanding of marriage and the family. On the surface, most feminists these days are busy with retail politics, seeking small, incremental but immediate changes to public policy or corporate habits or university policies. They are now concerned with sex education for pre-kindergarteners, national daycare, additional sexual harassment training, getting more CEOs to “lean in,” or closing the “pay gap.” But these retail changes are incremental steps toward the accomplishments of a radical feminism—one that seeks to eliminate the differences between men and women and ultimately to abolish the family altogether. The astounding accomplishments...

Bahena Rivera testified that two masked men wielding a gun and a knife appeared in his living room after he finished taking a shower and ordered him into his car, a black Chevy Malibu. He said one man got in behind him and the other next to him. He testified that he followed their orders to drive and then stop near a jogger, whom he now recognizes was Tibbetts. Bahena Rivera's demeanor remained mostly calm during the stunning testimony until he described how the two masked men said "they knew Iris [Gamboa, the mother of his daughter] and my daughter"...

Alex Gutentag, a California school teacher, makes an amazing number of valid points in just a few days on Twitter. To wit:May 26 Lab leak isn’t the only scandal we should be discussing. 94% of covid deaths had an average of 2.6 comorbidities. Lies about mortality rates allowed elites to loot the treasury and decimate 200,000 small businesses. “Sick until proven healthy” policies ruined millions of lives. May 21 The disdain wealthy professionals have for unvaccinated people is thinly veiled classism. Minorities and blue collar workers are most hesitant about covid vaccines. When affluent people vilify unvaccinated groups they are...

It's a given that the main reason why the Trump hating Uniparty and media don't want full forensic audits of the contested States to take place is because they fear these audits will reveal massive fraud. But there's another reason as well. And the fact that audits are already happening in Maricopa County, AZ, and Windham, NH, means the damage has already been done. Allow me to explain. There are two parts to the Uniparty/media narrative regarding election fraud. The first part of this narrative is that there's absolutely no reason to do any full forensic audits, because the 2020...

A scandal-plagued “VIP” program that provided members of Congress with Federal Air Marshals (FAM) often yanked from high-risk fights has been canceled after Judicial Watch exposed it earlier this month. As a result, hundreds of FAM are sitting idly at airports around the U.S. because the “VIP missions have stopped,” according to a federal law enforcement source with firsthand knowledge of the situation. A veteran air marshal who asked not to be identified said “the Washington Field Office in Washington D.C. was almost exclusively dedicated to VIP services for Congress.” Another longtime FAM told Judicial Watch he was deployed on...

Cold viruses have been held at bay during months of mask wearing and social distancing. Now that people vaccinated for COVID-19 are taking off their masks and meeting friends in restaurants and elsewhere, are we doomed to get colds and sniffles? Yes, but it’s not because the pandemic caused a change in our immune system to make us more susceptible to catching common colds. We’re likely to get summer colds because we’ve stopped wearing masks and started mingling. That’s giving cold viruses opportunities to spread. The prevalence of colds this summer may reach pre-pandemic levels, health experts said. For the...

ATLANTA (AP) — Six months after Donald Trump’s loss, conspiracy theorists and backers of former President Donald Trump are continuing their push for repeated examinations of ballots and finding limited successes. A Georgia judge last week awarded a group the chance to review mail ballots in a large Georgia county that includes Atlanta. Officials in a rural Michigan county on Tuesday debated a review of their voting machines. A similar debate has caused sharp divisions in a New Hampshire town. In some cases, the efforts have been inspired by an audit of the votes in Arizona’s Maricopa County, an elaborate...
