Washington -- I do not like being wrong. Looking back on the journalism of the last few years, I have concluded this makes me one weird journalist. Most journalists -- in fact, most commentators -- seem to prefer to be wrong. Spectacularly, melodramatically wrong. In 2013, when I met Donald Trump for the first time, I concluded that he could be a successful politician. More than that, I concluded that if he ran for president, he would win. He was not like any other politician I have known. He was smart, aggressive and he knew enough about the issues to...

Is President Trump a self-styled authoritarian? No, but the people accusing him of being one just might be themselves. One of the most enduring prevarications emanating from the left during the presidency of Donald Trump is the idea that he is a self-styled authoritarian strongman in the tradition of Mussolini and Hitler. Political commentators such as media personality Rachel Maddow and economic adviser Robert Reich were among the earliest purveyors of this sort of fiction, dating back to 2015 and 2017, respectively. In 2020, journalists like Matthew C. MacWilliams and others like him who continue to write through the lens...

A knife-wielding attacker shouting "Allahu Akbar" beheaded a woman and killed two other people in a suspected terrorist incident at a church in the French city of Nice on Thursday, police and officials said. Nice's mayor, Christian Estrosi, who described the attack as terrorism, said on Twitter it had happened in or near the city's Notre Dame church. Estrosi said the attacker had repeatedly shouted the phrase "Allahu Akbar," or God is greatest, even after he had been detained by police. One of the people killed inside the church was believed to be the church warden, Estrosi said, adding that...

October 29, 2020 Thursday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time Reading 1 EPH 6:10-20 Brothers and sisters: Draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the Devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens. Therefore, put on the armor of God, that you may be able to resist on the evil day and,...

A man opened fire Friday on a prankster who fired paintballs at him after mistaking the paintball gun for a real gun, according to police in Michigan City. Authorities said the 40-year-old man was pumping gas at a BP gas station when he began to hear popping sounds and felt stings on his body. “The (man) then saw someone out of the passenger side widow of a passing vehicle with what appeared to be a gun,” police said. “The (man), thinking that he was being shot at by the passenger in this vehicle, drew his concealed firearm and fired several...

Early voting trends bode well for Trump. – For those who, like me, are obsessing over the early voting trends in key swing states, frequent contributor Larry Schweikart has a very good piece posted up at UncoverDC.com this morning. Here’s an excerpt from that piece: As the Democrat lead in the Vote By Mail (VBM) mounted two weeks ago, many Republicans panicked. Not only do Democrats usually lead in “early” voting (which includes both VBM and “In-Person Early Voting,” or IPEV), but this year in particular—with the China Virus—their emphasis on VBM has resulted in stunning voting levels. So far....

The Sindh High Court in Karachi, Pakistan, has validated the marriage of a 13-year-old Catholic girl to a Muslim man who abducted her. Arzoo Raja had been taken from outside her home on October 13 and two days later, as the family searched for her, police announced that they had received marriage papers claiming that Arzoo was 18 and that she had converted to Islam to marry her 44-year-old abductor, Ali Azhar. The family were able to provide the authorities with an official birth certificate proving Arzoo was 13, and they sought legal representation from Aid to the Church in...

Lost on the President Donald Trump-hating pundits who weighed in on the second and final debate with former Vice President Joe Biden was Trump's energy and focus. The man just recovered from COVID-19. Male and 74 years old, Trump is in the "high-risk" category. His weight makes him "comorbid." Yet, there he was, still throwing heat at the end of the standing 90-minute debate, having spoken earlier that day at a typically raucous love fest/campaign rally. Trump handily defeated Biden, who noticeably tired by the end of this second and final debate. Yes, nearly all polls show Biden ahead both...

White House coronavirus advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNBC in an interview Wednesday that the United States is “going in the wrong direction” as coronavirus cases rise in 47 states and infected patients overwhelm hospitals across the country. “If things do not change, if they continue on the course we’re on, there’s gonna be a whole lot of pain in this country with regard to additional cases and hospitalizations, and deaths,” the White House coronavirus taskforce member said in an interview Wednesday evening on “The News with Shepard Smith.” States in the northeast held the virus in check over the...

Sen. Ted Cruz during a hearing on Wednesday accused Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey of censoring content with an anti-conservative bias, with the Texas Republican focusing his argument around a policy the tech company has since changed. Cruz slammed Dorsey during the Senate Commerce Committee hearing over the company's decision earlier this month to limit the spread of a New York Post report that included allegations about Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden that have been disputed by the former vice president's campaign. The company initially blocked users, including the New York Post, from tweeting links to the article,...

As the Joe Biden/Hunter Biden/laptop scandal continues to gradually unspool it is becoming clear that along with the desire for the candidate to have this all end one other entity wishes it as well - the press. Since word broke of this trove that appears to be a powder keg of evidence most journalist outlets have gone to great lengths to not report on the story. It is not hyperbolic to say this could be a decision of lasting damage for many in the media. The surprise in all of this is not that the media outlets have chosen a...

It’s just the flu, bro. https://lockdownsceptics.org/2020/10/28/latest-news-176/ See above - there are lockdown skeptics everywhere. Although we Flubros aren’t really skeptics, we are more in the denier category. - Everyday the MSM is calling it a Corona doomsday. Although we Freepers and Flubros prefer an echo chamber of likeminded people, does anybody know someone who had the mindset of Kodak and then recently came over to the Flubro side? - https://www.mediaite.com/news/dr-fauci-tells-australians-that-the-us-is-getting-worse-and-worse-and-might-not-get-close-to-normal-until-2022/ Link above says Fauci believes no normal until 2022. Anyone care to predict what will happen with Fauci after Trump wins? I hope for immediate termination after the election but...

He sure seems like a nice guy, doesn’t he? That Joe Biden, with his unnaturally white-capped smile so wide you can see his wisdom teeth and his “awe, shucks” kind of way of running for president as just your average Joe. “Middle-class Joe” and “lunch bucket Joe” are just a couple of the names senators used to call him as a way of picking on him for being so naturally blue collar he’d sometimes show up to work with a naked torso and a tie, not realizing he wasn’t wearing a blue shirt. Everybody loves Joe, just ask him. Of...

Aprofessor whose forecasting model foretold Donald Trump's 2016 upset election win has predicted the president is on course for victory again in the upcoming November 3 poll. John Antonakis, a professor of Organisational Behaviour from Switzerland's Lausanne University, said the model's projection for 2020 put Trump ahead of Democratic challenger Joe Biden in the race for the White House. However, Antonakis cautioned the forecast—which takes into account economic conditions, incumbency effect and candidates' relative charisma levels—was presented "with humility" given the complicating "fog" produced by the coronavirus pandemic. The model used by Antonakis was developed in collaboration with Professor Philippe...

Whenever President Donald Trump is confronted with polls he does not like, especially the torrent of national data showing him trailing Democratic challenger Joe Biden in public support, the president’s response is usually the same: Fake news. If the polls were always right, his thinking goes, Hillary Clinton should be running for re-election, not him. The former Democratic presidential candidate consistently led Trump in state and national polls in 2016 before he won the White House, just like Biden does now. But opinion poll experts say there are good reasons to trust this year’s polls more than those of 2016....

In his personal capacity as a private citizen, civil rights leader and Christian activist Rev. William Owens endorsed Donald Trump for president Tuesday. The founder and president of the Coalition of African American Pastors (CAAP), Owens, along with his wife, Dr. Deborah Owens, are the authors of A Dream Derailed: How the Left Hijacked Civil Rights to Create a Permanent Underclass. In a press release, Owens noted the significance of the current election, explaining that Trump’s record on issues that are important to black Americans has earned him another term in office.
