The federal government has spent trillions of dollars to help dull the economic pain from the coronavirus pandemic, but Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio claims it’s not enough to stabilize the economy — and wants to see monthly payments of $2,000 to most Americans until the crisis begins to fade. "I think this is the best way to stabilize the economy and make sure that everybody is paying their mortgage, paying their credit cards, paying their personal loans ... and all the rest so that they don't fall behind," Ryan said during Tuesday's Fox News Rundown podcast. "Once we do start...

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. said in an interview Monday that there is a chance the nation’s top disease doctor, Anthony Fauci, will testify in the Senate next week despite the White House's decision last week to prevent the coronavirus taskforce member from testifying before a House subcommittee. Schumer, the Senate minority leader, tweeted that the “Senate needs to hear from Dr. Fauci, Dr. Brix, Sec. Mnuchin. We need to know why so many small businesses have had trouble getting loans. We need to know why unemployment insurance checks are failing to get to workers. We need to know we still...

"Yes I have, Tucker," McHugh confirmed. "That is true. I'm aware of it. I've been looking into it for a story. It was the New York Attorney General's office civil division, so we're not sure if it could lead...

Maduro made a nationwide broadcast on state television and held up a pair of U.S. passports that he said were recovered. He read off the names and birthdays of the two Americans.

Explosive, newly unsealed evidence documenting the FBI's efforts to target national security adviser Michael Flynn -- including a top official's handwritten memo debating whether the FBI's "goal" was "to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired" -- calls into question whether Brandon Van Grack, a Justice Department prosecutor and former member of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Team, complied with a court order to produce favorable evidence to Flynn. Since February 2018, Van Grack has been obligated to comply with D.C. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan's standing order in the Flynn case to produce...

The World Health Organization said Monday that Washington had provided no evidence to support "speculative" claims by the US president that the new coronavirus originated in a Chinese lab. "We have not received any data or specific evidence from the United States government relating to the purported origin of the virus – so from our perspective, this remains speculative," WHO emergencies director Michael Ryan told a virtual briefing. Scientists believe the killer virus jumped from animals to humans, emerging in China late last year, possibly from a market in Wuhan selling exotic animals for meat. Top US epidemiologist Anthony Fauci...

A wee dog in Toa Payoh has joined the pantheon of meme-worthy critters who’ve masked up during the pandemic, and in adorable fashion too. It was on April 29 that the canonical canine first appeared on Singapore’s radars through a rather superb picture taken by The Straits Times photographer Gavin Foo. In a worrying article about the vulnerability of senior citizens to coronavirus infection, an all-encompassing photo was used. It’s a picture taken at Toa Payoh Central that aptly captures the current situation of the heightened safety measures in Singapore. There’s a cordoned-off coffee shop. There’s a GrabFood delivery rider,...

A total of 20 men have been fined for flouting safe distancing rules after they fell prey to credit-for-sex scams — a double whammy for their wallets. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) received multiple reports of credit-for-sex scams between April 18 and April 29, of which there were at least 20 male victims. The age of the victims ranged from 18 to 52. According to SPF, the victims left their residences for non-essential activities such as procuring sexual services by purchasing gift cards or using AXS machines during the circuit breaker period. Most cases involved the victims falling for the...

When the cat is away, the mice will play. While most people are cooped up at home during the circuit breaker, a three-metre-long King Cobra was spotted taking a stroll near Marsiling MRT on Sunday (May 3) afternoon. The curious spectacle was captured on video and uploaded onto Twitter that day. "I was strolling to NTUC to get groceries when this big girl came out of nowhere," the woman behind the camera, who declined to be named, wrote in her tweet. Speaking with AsiaOne, her sister Feeza recounted how the venomous snake had slithered from a lift lobby of Block...

Samuel Little, otherwise known as the “Choke and Stroke Killer”, is certainly one of the serial killers who has flown most under the radar over the years. Samuel Little may have killed as many as 93 people by knocking them unconscious and then strangling them to death. Little was given his nickname by the LAPD because he often masturbated after his kills. The vileness of such an act aside, it is remarkable that Little got away with killing so many people. True crime lovers often lose sleep over the thought of how many serial killers may still be on the...
