the White House sent a letter to Capitol Hill asking for $251 billion in additional funding. Again, everyone knew it would be needed and needed soon. The White House wanted quick action. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell hoped the Senate would approve a simple bill, one that provided the $251 billion and did not do anything else, on a voice vote. Republicans finally surrendered on the money, $75 billion for hospitals. They agreed to $25 billion for testing that Pelosi added to her demands. The GOP balked on money for states and local governments. And it is still not done....

Researchers from Baylor College of Medicine suggest fasting from dawn to sunset may reduce the risk of cancer and other illness. They did not eat or drink during daylight hours, but had no calorie restrictions outside of that time. After the 30 days, their blood samples showed an increase in proteins, that protect against cancer, obesity, diabetes, and even some neurological disorders. But don't change your diet yet , or without talking to your doctor. Researchers say larger and longer studies are needed. The study was led by researchers at Baylor College of Medicine and published in 'Journal of Proteomics.''

Spoiler: Prince Rupert's drops are so strong, they actually cause the bullet to shatter. In glorious slow motion, you can watch as the bullet crumbles against the wide end of the drop, sending out shock waves that then rattle the rest of the structure and cause the thin end to break, resulting in the entire thing exploding.

In chapter 1 of the book "Public Opinion", Walter Lippmann writes the following: (page 40) The wireless constantly used the statistics of the intelligence bureau at Verdun, whose chief, Major Cointet, had invented a method of calculating German losses which obviously produced marvelous results. Every fortnight the figures increased a hundred thousand or so. These 300,000, 400,000, 500,000 casualties put out, divided into daily, weekly, monthly losses, repeated in all sorts of ways, produced a striking effect. Our formulae varied little: 'according to prisoners the German losses in the course of the attack have been considerable' ... 'it is proved...
