A Florida congressman made a statement about coronavirus on the House floor. Rep. Matt Gaetz wore a gas-mask on Wednesday during a vote on emergency funding to fight the spread of coronavirus. The bill would allocate billions of dollars to combating coronavirus as concerns rise over the spread of the respiratory illness. The move comes as the number of cases of the virus in the U.S. rises above 100 and the number of deaths approaches a dozen. However, Vice President Mike Pence said the American public’s risk of contracting the novel coronavirus “remains low,” stressing that there is “no need...

Appearing on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Tuesday, Hume commented a series of slip-ups and outbursts by Biden, 77, saying, “like so many people his age, is losing his memory and is getting senile.” “I don’t think there’s any doubt about this,” Hume, 76, said. “I have traces of this myself. I know what it feels like. Sometimes you’re confused, sometimes you can’t remember, ‘What are you supposed to do the next morning?’ And I’m not running for president — and it’s probably a good thing I’m not.” Hume noted that Biden has a long history of gaffes over the years, but...

Investors betting big against catastrophic diseases are watching the World Health Organization closely as insurance bonds tied to whether the organization labels COVID-19 a pandemic are set to mature in June.In 2017, the World Bank designed a new way to raise money: Pandemic Emergency Financing bonds. Over $425 million worth of such bonds, which bet against a global outbreak of infectious diseases and will default if WHO declares the coronavirus a pandemic, were sold by the World Bank in its first-ever issuance of catastrophe bonds. In the event of no pandemic, investors would be paid a healthy annualized return. Meanwhile,...

Today’s order from the Supreme Court is a major victory for the Trump Administration. By allowing the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) to remain in effect, the Court has prevented dangerous chaos at the southern border, avoided a significant escalation in public health threats, and mitigated damage to foreign relations. MPP, which faithfully implements section 235(b)(2)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, has been crucial to our success working with Mexico to control rampant illegal migration, smuggling, and cartel-driven human trafficking, all of which present wide-ranging risks to both our countries and to the migrants themselves. Open borders do not serve...

A Gallup survey released this week indicates that 40 percent of Americans give Republicans in Congress a thumbs up on the job they’re doing. That’s a jump of 6 percentage points since Gallup’s last poll – which was conducted in late October before the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives impeached President Trump. The Republican president was acquitted by the GOP majority in the Senate in early February.

There's been a run on toilet paper and other "emergency" supplies over the course of the last week as we wait to learn just how serious the coronavirus epidemic will be in the U.S. Shoppers, including PJM's Megan Fox, are reporting empty shelves at grocery stores, and now even Amazon, the nation's largest online retailer, is running short on toilet paper. Keep in mind that the Wuhan virus is not a gastrointestinal ailment. While a case can be made that it might be prudent to stock on things like hand sanitizer, Tylenol, and cough syrup, you're not likely to need...
