As you may or may not know, I only really started taking care of the diabetes in 2017, though I was diagnosed in 2010. Even then, my control has been kinda bad. I sometimes see a blood sugar near 300, but I am getting better. Some of my neglect has caught up with me. Friday morning, I noticed I was seeing double when driving. I went to the doctor for a previous appointment, unrelated to this. I didn’t bother to mention this issue because it came and went, and I figured it was just eye strain or something. Well, it...

Courtesy Dean Weingarten In a paper published in 2008, comparing highly regulated Californian gun shows with relatively unregulated Texas gun shows, there was no statistical difference in suicide rates, or in homicide rates in California. The Texas gun shows, with far less regulation, showed a statistically significant drop in the homicide rate. From the study, on page 4: “But our results provide little evidence of a gun show-induced increase in mortality in Texas. In fact, we find that in the two weeks following a gun show, the average number of gun homicides declines in the area surrounding the gun...

CNN will be hosting the town hall style debate next Sunday and agreed to a format change that would have the candidates seated. The Sanders camp is accusing Biden’s team of a backdoor deal with the DNC to allow old Joe to take a load off rather than go toe-to-toe with Bernie. “Why does Joe Biden not want to stand toe-to-toe with Sen. Sanders on the debate stage March 15 and have an opportunity to defend his record and articulate his vision for the future?” Politico reported: After a private call Friday with CNN, which is moderating the March 15...

Before I get to the most important Joe Biden question ... I have breaking news on the Trump economy. More economic numbers came out Friday. The U.S. economy gained a remarkable 273,000 new jobs in February, far more than the 175,000 expected. But even more powerful news: The December jobs report was revised upward by 37,000; the January report was revised up by 48,000. That's 85,000 extra jobs no one knew about. Even in the midst of a coronavirus crisis, the Trump economy is booming. President Donald Trump is like Houdini. By the way, to put icing on the cake,...

Demonstrators belonging to Islamist groups attacked an International Women's Day rally in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Sunday, hurling rocks, chunks of mud and even their shoes. The demonstrators, who were at a rival rally held by hardline Islamist organizations, were particularly enraged by one slogan the women's day rally adopted: "mera jism, mera marzi" – "my body, my choice." Riot police set up large cloth barricades to dive the rival rallies, which flanked either side of a main road. But the police were also there to protect the women's day protesters, after the hardline men and women threatened violence....

Today’s Rare Ride hails from the first two decades of Toyota’s North American tenure. The Corona line was midsize, luxurious, and the pinnacle of the company’s offerings on this continent. Come along and experience Corona. The Corona was an all-new car for Toyota in 1957. It was created as successor to the Toyopet Master, which was a taxi and fleet vehicle sold alongside the similar Crown sedan. Once Toyota saw the market for the more luxurious Crown, it cancelled the Toyopet Master and replaced it with the less expensive Corona to create some distance from its flagship. The Corona then...
