Former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was behind the leak of text messages between the FBI ‘s Peter Strzok and Lisa Page to the press. A court filing by the Department of Justice late Friday revealed the admission in a five-page statement by Rosenstein on the text messages between the FBI agent and lawyer back in 2016 as they were both working on investigations, Politico reported. (Image: YouTube screenshot) Rosenstein, who stepped down from his position last year, apparently released the messages as a way to protect the FBI employees who criticized then-candidate Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign....

Facebook has blamed a technical error for Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s name appearing as “Mr Shithole” in posts on its platform when translated into English from Burmese, apologising for any offence caused and saying the problem had been fixed. The error came to light on the second day of a visit by the president to Myanmar, where Xi and state counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi signed dozens of agreements covering massive Beijing-backed infrastructure plans.

A huge rally against gun control is shaping up to be a bizarre meeting of the minds. When gun lovers rally in front of the Virginia Capitol in Richmond next week, the local chapter of antifa will be there too. But their members won’t be wearing all black, and they don’t plan to douse right-wingers in milkshakes or Silly String.Instead, local antifa will join thousands of conservatives who are expected to descend on Richmond that day in protesting pending gun-control legislation introduced by Democratic lawmakers.SNIP“I think it’s been pretty important for us to focus on the fact that gun control...

Charles Schumer’s 1999 letter about impeachment comes back to bite him On Feb. 11, 1999 — one day before President Bill Clinton was acquitted in his impeachment trial before the Senate — Sen. Charles Schumer penned a passionate letter, outlining why the process had taken an unfair toll on the nation. He noted that the president believed he had not crossed a line, and praised the large threshold needed to get a conviction in the Senate. He also cheered the American people for opposing impeachment. A Gallup poll in December 1998 found that 35 percent of Americans were pro-impeachment, with...

The Justice Department released its fourth batch of documents from the special counsel’s probe Friday, including notes of FBI interviews with former Trump campaign advisers Carter Page and George Papadopoulos. The documents include the FBI’s interviews conducted in 2017 with Papadopoulos and with Page, as well as interviews with Russian associates of Page. The records were provided to BuzzFeed News and CNN in response to Freedom of Information Act lawsuits for FBI notes, known as 302s, that were used in the Trump-Russia probe. Papadopoulos and Page were two of the four original targets of Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI counterintelligence investigation...

I received a speeding ticket tonight coming up hwy 7 from Ole Miss to Memphis. Since I haven’t had one in ten years or so, I found a few tings interesting: 1. The police were in the opposite lane and must have locked on without sitting on the side of the road with a radar gun. I imagine they have some new stuff that uses their speed against an oncoming car’s speed. Not hard to solve, but I’ve never run into it before. 2. Since it was at night, after I pulled over, I put on the overhead lights, rolled...

If this stat is accurate -- and I have no reason to doubt it -- President Trump has far more cross-party appeal than the Media Cartel would have us believe. Oh, and, if true, he's clearly the odds on favorite to win the 2020 election... in an electoral college landslide.Earlier this week, Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale shared some statistics from Trump's campaign rally in Wisconsin on Tuesday. They are absolutely staggering. According to Pascale, 57.9% of the 20,395 voters in attendance were either registered Democrats or Independents. Excellent data from Milwaukee: ? 20,395 Voters Identified ? 15,738 Voters...

One week ago, I met with an old friend who was born in America but who has spent almost all of his life in Italy. He was struck by how openly and boldly the Gospel was proclaimed here in the States, from massive billboards on the roadside to Christian radio and TV.A few days later, I met with a young man from the Faroe Islands, now studying in Denmark, and wanting to do pro-life work in his home country and beyond. He flew to America to meet with pro-life leaders for input and example, since there was virtually no such...

ANKENY, Iowa (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg said Saturday the Oval Office requires a wartime veteran, a niche he occupies exclusively among top-tier candidates in his party’s race for the 2020 nomination. During an interview on Iowa PBS in suburban Des Moines, Buttigieg was asked if there’s value in a president who had faced hostile fire. Buttigieg, a Naval intelligence officer in Afghanistan in 2014, noted he had been present for rocket attacks while stationed at Bagram Airfield, and later faced potential danger as an armed driver in Kabul. Another presidential candidate, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, served...

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Two of the first three states to vote in the Democratic presidential race will use new mobile apps to gather results from thousands of caucus sites - technology intended to make counting easier but that raises concerns of hacking or glitches. Democratic Party activists in Iowa and Nevada will use programs downloaded to their personal phones to report the results of caucus gatherings to the state headquarters. That data will then be used to announce the unofficial winners. Paper records will later be used to certify the results. The party is moving ahead with the...

Emily James worked as a senior banker at a U.S. Bank call center in Portland when she received a call from a customer last month whose paycheck had been placed on hold, James worked to help Marc Eugenio, a Clackamas resident, get access to the more than $1,000 that should have been in his account before telling him to go to his local bank the next day to get the money cleared by a manager. The following day, on Christmas Eve, Eugenio visited his local branch but because of the holiday, no one was able to help him. A devasted...

More evidence that President Trump’s immigration policies are having great effects, from the Wall Street Journal: “Mexican Forces Clash With Migrants at Border With Guatemala.” Mexican security forces used plastic shields to push back hundreds of Central American migrants who tried to force their way across a border bridge from Guatemala into Mexico on Saturday. Lines of National Guard officers jostled with migrants, some of whom threw bottles and wielded sticks as they tried to push their way into Mexico. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has vowed to stop migrants from entering the country illegally as they try to reach...

Antonio Socci: ‘We Are Watching the Leaders of the Church Work Against Her’ Advice for the 'little flock' that may remain The following views by author Antonio Socci do not necessarily represent those of Church Militant, but are important, as they reflect the state of uncertainty and confusion plaguing today's Church. Joseph Roth wrote his novel The Antichrist in 1934, at the time of totalitarianism, and he speaks of the Antichrist as an icy poison that infects everyone, corrupting souls and even language itself, which has now lost contact with reality itself and confuses black and white, true and false. "The ideal subject of...

Several Georgia families got a big surprise to kick off the new year: relief from millions of dollars in medical debt. A donation from New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in south Dekalb County wiped out $1.3 million in medical debt for more than 1,200 south DeKalb residents just in time for the holidays, the church announced Tuesday. Senior pastor Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant directed the relief to people who live in the 20028 ZIP code, which includes Stonecrest and Lithonia. Bryant said he hopes it helps families get a better start in 2020. “We are blessed to be a blessing...

Until recently, Hoan Ton-That’s greatest hits included an obscure iPhone game and an app that let people put Donald Trump’s distinctive yellow hair on their own photos. Then Mr. Ton-That — an Australian techie and onetime model — did something momentous: He invented a tool that could end your ability to walk down the street anonymously, and provided it to hundreds of law enforcement agencies, ranging from local cops in Florida to the F.B.I. and the Department of Homeland Security. His tiny company, Clearview AI, devised a groundbreaking facial recognition app. You take a picture of a person, upload it...

Our second amendment isn't under attack. Our state [Virginia] may well be under attack, though, if violent mobs succeed in assembling in Richmond Monday. A normal president would urge calm and offer assistance. But that is the way of a president, not of a demagogue. https://twitter.com/BillKristol/status/1218314204505092096

Today, the United States spends more than $100 billion on policing each year. Cities often spend anywhere from 30 to 50 percent of their total budgets toward policing, and some exceed $1 billion. There are more than 12,300 local police departments in the United States and 468,000 sworn, full-time officers with arresting power, a 34 percent increase since 1987. While politicians have often painted the rise in police officers as improving public safety, the truth is that the escalation of mass policing — police personnel, resources and police contact — has produced persistent harassment, arrest and soaring rates of police...
