Columnist Ann Coulter is a tall woman, and apparently, she spent some time selecting the right sort of seat for a person who needs more legroom on frequent flights, perhaps to avoid deep-vein thrombosis, or perhaps to fly more comfortably. Â She spent the time and paid the extra money to get an aisle seat in an emergency row on a Delta flight, which would have done the job. For some reason, as the flight was boarding, the airline decided to move her seat to the window in the same row and seat a group of other passengers, perhaps because...

As the CBO studies the revised Senate healthcare reform bill, both sides of this debate await their prognostication regarding the economics and numbers of covered individuals. Their analysis may provide cover for the difficult political decisions that the spineless Republicans will make regarding any reform legislation. Already, the Washington Post is calling its analysis “fake news†as it fears its analysis will improve the prospects of passage of a revised Senate bill. The CBO was created to allow Congress an analysis of legislative costs independent of the OMB analysis. The OMB, which can be subject to the political whims...

Campus Reform published a video yesterday showing college students in Washington, D.C. responding to two simple questions. The first question was: Do you think socialism is good or bad? As you’ll see, there was enthusiastic agreement from the students that socialism was a good idea, one which is about “helping people” and spreading the wealth. Some of the students even seem defensive, noting that socialism, inexplicably, has a bad reputation. The second question was also simple: What is socialism? All of the students who were confident socialism was a good idea seem unable to really explain what it is or...

SIERRA VISTA — The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which will affect several Arizona military installations including Fort Huachuca. The bill, approved on Friday, includes $103 million that will fund replacing the wings of the A-10 fleet and $17.5 million in upgrades to the EC-130H fleet as well as funding for “critical missions” at Fort Huachuca. Amendments to the NDAA — initially offered by U.S. Rep. Martha McSally, R-Ariz. — plans to extend a National Guard suicide prevention program, improve the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) security, address the...

Breitbart: Trump Defense Department Delays Obama’s Transgender Push in the Military. “The Pentagon is working to delay the July 1 deadline to fully implement the Obama-initiated policy that one year ago lifted the ban on transgender individuals serving in the U.S. military.â€Â While the Pentagon directive to allow transgender men and women to join the military faces an indefinite delay this may be a good time to review just how America was ensnared with this Obama-era policy. The evidence is clear—the American Left succeeded in lobbying the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to eliminate some of the sexual identity disorders...

My grandson has been accepted into the Business School at the University of Michigan, and we are all happy for him. Here is the dilemma. They strongly advise that all incoming student have a PC, not a Mac. Since we are all Mac users from way back, we do not know enough about PCs to make an intelligent purchase. We do know that Macs can run PC software partitioned, but it seems that there are some software programs that do not run well on partitioned Macs (proprietary, maybe?) So can you all offer to help, without turning it into a...

Would you like to lose ten pounds of ugly fat? Great! Off with your head. This old chestnut came to mind as I was perusing the now-infamous new study from Lund University’s child-averse climate scientists, advising people to save the planet by giving up their cars, avoiding air travel, becoming vegetarians, and having fewer kids. The study got rave reviews from the Guardian and Jill Filipovic, perhaps because the last item is really the primary thing. It turns out that hamburgers and SUVs are smallish indulgences next to that gurgling bundle of CO2-emitting joy. The study’s authors, Seth Wynes...

An approach to machine learning inspired by the human brain is about to revolutionize street search. Even if the cop who pulls you over doesn’t recognize you, the body camera on his chest just might in the future. Device-maker Motorola announced Monday that would partner with artificial intelligence software startup Neurala to build “real-time learning for a person of interest search” on Motorola products such as the Si500 body camera for police, the AI firm announced in a press release today.

Some of my critics point to the congressional investigations of Hillary, saying that she was absolved of any wrong doing, but at least in my opinion, the congressional hearings stopped far short of placing the blame for the murder of four Americans, including a United States Ambassador who had all but fallen on his knees to beg for additional security. To my knowledge, the subpoena list did not include any of the survivors of the attack, any military personnel familiar with the area and the military assets close enough to send help, and there were several. If you doubt, check...

A new report in the Los Angeles Daily News details the many dangers that California’s record-low birthrate holds for a state where there is constant political pressure to expand welfare spending, and where the cost of living continues to outpace inflation. The Daily News‘ Ian Wheeler writes: The pace of motherhood in California is slowing and its members are aging, a shift demographers expect to continue and contribute to far-reaching and uncertain changes in the decades to come. Births still more than replace deaths — factoring in immigration and longer lifespans, the four-county region is estimated to add 2.7 million...

A break-in happened Saturday morning at the Las Vegas office of Nevada Republican Sen. Dean Heller, Las Vegas’ CBS News affiliate reported. A threatening note against Heller was also left behind, a source claims. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed it is investigating the incident at Heller’s office on W. Sunset and told reporters there was no evidence of damage. Heller’s office would not comment on the break-in, saying, “We can’t comment on/discuss ongoing investigations.” Metro police spokesman confirms a break in at campaign office of Sen. Dean Heller. Some sort of threat was made as well. — George...

CNN hosted a panel this morning of Trump voters describing what CNN described as “life after their vote.” Three of the voters described very nasty reactions they’ve received from liberals: A woman spoke of receiving “a lot of hatred from people I loved and respected,” including being asked if she was “crazy” and wondering “how could you do this to us?” A female impersonator recounted being immediately blackballed from his work when he came out as a Trump supporter, and having received death threats. He noted the irony of coming from a community that prides itself on inclusiveness. A man...

An Australian woman engaged to marry an American next month was shot and killed by a Minneapolis cop Saturday night after calling police to report an incident, leading her family and investigators to question what caused the deadly shooting. The woman, identified as Justine Damond, 40, was killed in the late-night shooting in the city's Fulton neighborhood, Fox 9 reported. She reportedly had called to report an assault. “Two Minneapolis police officers responded to a 911 call of a possible assault just north of the 5100 block of Washburn Avenue S. just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday,” the state Bureau of...

President Trump told United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May that he wouldn’t visit Britain until their press treats him more favorably, according to a Saturday report from The Sun. The article cited senior diplomats and said Trump told May, “I haven’t had great coverage out there lately, Theresa.” The prime minister reportedly replied: “Well, you know what the British press are like.” To whic

One of the most under-discussed yet consequential changes in the American political landscape is the reunion between the Democratic Party and the country’s most extreme and discredited neocons. While the rise of Donald Trump, whom neocons loathe, has accelerated this realignment, it began long before the ascension of Trump and is driven by far more common beliefs than contempt for the current President. A newly formed and, by all appearances, well-funded national security advocacy group, devoted to more hawkish U.S. policies toward Russia and other adversaries, provides the most vivid evidence yet of this alliance. Calling itself the Alliance for...

Proverb 17 (NKJV) The LORD Tests Hearts 01 Better is a dry morsel with quietness, 00 Than a house full of feasting with strife. 02 A wise servant will rule over a son who causes shame, 00 And will share an inheritance among the brothers. 03 The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, 00 But the LORD tests the hearts. 04 An evildoer gives heed to false lips; 00 A liar listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue. 05 He who mocks the poor reproaches his Maker; 00 He who is glad at calamity will not...

“Francis is more interested in leftwing politics than in Catholic theology”, George Neumayr, contributing editor of The American Spectator, states talking to Tom Woods on July 14th on tomwoods.com. Woods describes Francis as a result of John Paul II who - as he puts it - appointed "absolutely terrible people" as bishops: "Catholics have suffered under Bergoglios for decades now”. Neumayr agrees that a lot of the liberal bishops were appointed by John Paul II and Benedict XVI. He sees Francis as the “culmination of a century” of liberalism and modernism in the Church. For him it is "highly unlikely"...
