OK, JimRob and JohnRob, I know it is not a huge issue, but is there any chance we might find a way to possibly upgrade the "Search" function on FR? I just tried a search on "integrated", "Integrated", " 'integrated", " 'Integrated", and " 'integrated' " --and I could not find My own post! Re: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3386670/posts It's been years now. Since about 1998. I realize that JohnRob is concerned about the oddlooking character-fonts appearing on FR recently, but the FR search engine... could it possibly be upgraded just a bit? A teensy bit? It might help with all the duplicate...

Thirty-five restaurants across China, including a popular Beijing hot pot chain, have been found illegally using opium poppies as seasoning, one of the more unusual practices bedeviling the country's food regulators. Five restaurants are being prosecuted while 30 others, ranging from Shanghai dumpling joints to noodle shops in southwestern Chongqing, are under investigation, said the China Food and Drug Administration. Cases of cooks sprinkling ground poppy powder, which contains low amounts of opiates like morphine and codeine, in soup and seafood are not new in China, though it is unclear whether they can effectively hook a customer or deliver a...

  • Hillary Prepares to Embrace Slavery Reparations

Hillary Clinton is one bad South Carolina poll away from a full-scale embrace of radical racial insanity. On Thursday, CNN-ORC released a new poll from Iowa. Back in December, Hillary Clinton led socialist Vermont Senator Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) 16% by a margin of 54 percent to 36 percent. Today, Hillary Clinton trails Bernie Sanders by a margin of 51 percent to 43 percent. And in New Hampshire, it’s even worse. A CNN/WMUR poll this week shows Hillary getting blown out in New Hampshire by a margin of 60 percent to 33 percent. Her national poll numbers are now dropping...

It's a serious question. What's he going to do when Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell tell him to go to hell? Is he going to tell them they are liars on television and then call into Mark Levin's show and whine? Being President doesn't work like that. Is he going to be like President Obama and try to use executive orders to ram his legislation through? Compare that to Trump's approach from Art of the Deal where he asks for 3x more than what he wants, completely disorients his competitors and shakes the ground beneath everyone, and then gets what...

179 Willie Robertson, the Duck Dynasty television star, endorsed GOP frontrunner Donald Trump on Thursday, saying Trump has two attributes that America needs —”success and strength.” “Mr. Trump is a real leader,” Robertson said of the real-estate mogul. “He represents success and strength, two attributes our country needs. Like me, he is a successful businessman and family man and I endorse his candidacy for President of the United States.”

Days after Iran received hundreds of billions of dollars in sanctions relief from the controversial nuclear deal, US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday admitted a good portion of the massive funds will go to terror. Speaking at the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Kerry spoke about the massive kickback Tehran is receiving after nuclear sanctions were lifted last weekend. "I think that some of it will end up in the hands of the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) or other entities, some of which are labeled terrorists," he acknowledged to CNBC. "You know, to...

  • Donald Trump: Establishment 'warming up' to me

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Thursday there's nothing wrong with a little deal-making to get things done. "You know what? There's a point at which: Let's get to be a little establishment," he told about 1,500 people at a rally at the Las Vegas South Point Resort and Casino. "We've got to get things done folks, OK? Believe me, don't worry. We're going to make such great deals." It was an effort by the billionaire developer to draw contrasts with Ted Cruz, his top rival in the Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses. The author of "The Art of the Deal"...

So I must confess that it is a bit much to see the avalanche of conservative mockery and heckling directed at her for her endorsement of Donald Trump. I am not saying she is beyond criticism or that one should support Trump because of her endorsement (I haven not made up my own mind yet, and I swing almost daily between Cruz and Rubio), but perhaps we should consider that the combination of her personal relationship with Trump, her personal experience suffering from years of the most vicious and personal attacks directed at any current or former politician in the...

Donald Trump has attacked Ted Cruz roughly a billion times over the last week for having taken out loans from Citibank and Goldman Sachs. Like most everything Trump says, his attacks are short on facts and even shorter on making sense. He claims somehow that Cruz attempted to hide the loans, even though he openly disclosed them on public filings (just not the right ones). Here he is, in fact, saying that Cruz is “worse than Hillary, if you think about it,” because of the loans: https://youtu.be/_NtpbWK5Kdg More specifically, Trump has repeatedly reiterated the claim (at the beginning of the...

I would vote for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton. Many of the Republicans who have declared that they would never vote for Trump gave carte blanche to politicians who have been complicit in the growth of the government leviathan. These Republicans have ignored conservatism in the name of party politics, and their broken promises gave rise to Donald Trump's candidacy. Nonetheless, I will not be voting for Donald Trump in the primary. I take my conservatism seriously, and I also take Saint Paul seriously. In setting out the qualifications for overseers, or bishops, Saint Paul admonished Timothy, "If anyone aspires...
  • Conservatives Should Ask, ‘Does Trump Walk with Us?’

    National Review ^ | January 21, 2016 | L. Brent Bozell III
Longtime conservative leader Richard Viguerie has a simple test for credentialing a conservative: Does he walk with us? For the simple reason that he cannot win without conservatives' support, virtually every Republican presenting himself to voters swears so-help-me-God that he is a conservative. Many of these politicians are calculating, cynical charlatans, running as one thing only to govern in a completely different direction. See: McConnell, McCain, Hatch, Boehner, et al. And for decades it's worked. Conservatives look at the alternatives-Reid, Pelosi, Obama, Clinton, et al.-and bite the bullet. We so often "win"-only for nothing to come of it. The GOP...

Senator Bernie Sanders is on the move. The socialist US Senator from Vermont is taking the Democrat Party and the left in this country like a Red Storm. Sanders, has a huge lead in New Hampshire, where he is up by 27 points. He’s going to win Iowa as well. He has energized a grass roots movement that the country hasn’t seen since the Ron Paul Revolution on the libertarian right. Sanders’ only true competition is self-destructing like a reel to reel tape deck with billowing smoke in a Mission Impossible episode. The Democrats are beginning to realize that Hillary...

Tonight, a top official with the RNC called me to say that National Review was being disinvited [from the CNN debate]. The reason: Our "Against Trump" editorial and symposium. We expected this was coming. Small price to pay for speaking the truth about The Donald.
