Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem Character Studies From The Bible David New International Version (NIV) 2 In the course of time, David inquired of the Lord. “Shall I go up to one of the towns of Judah?” he asked. The Lord said, “Go up.” David asked, “Where shall I go?” “To Hebron,” the Lord answered. 2 So David went up there with his two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel. 3 David also took the men who were with him, each with his family, and they settled in Hebron and its towns. 4 Then the men...

Within the next 18 months Denel will have a clear idea of whether it will restart Rooivalk production as it talks to possible partner nations/clients and engages with the Department of Defence. Both the South African and foreign militaries have expressed interest in restarting production. Riaz Saloojee, Denel Group CEO pointed out to defenceWeb that defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula is on record saying that the Rooivalk needs to be re-established as a strategic sovereign capability for use in places like the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Saloojee told defenceWeb that Denel is establishing a roadmap for the Rooivalk which will...

Skeptics about the looming nuclear accord with Iran may be taking comfort from the promises of Republican presidential candidates to tear up the treaty as soon as they reach the Oval Office. They shouldn’t be. Even assuming a Republican wins the White House next year (hardly a certainty), pulling out of the agreement won’t necessarily fix its defects. In fact it could make the situation even worse. Iran, as its leaders have made clear, is expecting an immediate payoff from signing the accords—a payoff that President Obama has vowed to deliver. If leaks are accurate, Obama is offering Iran a...

Cuba unveiled new data on Wednesday it said confirmed there were billions of barrels of oil beneath its Gulf of Mexico waters but admitted there was little interest in new exploration even with the thaw in U.S. relations. The United States and Cuba have vowed to restore diplomatic relations after more than 50 years of animosity, but the comprehensive U.S. trade embargo remains in place. While U.S. tourism, transportation and agriculture companies position themselves for Cuban business, oil companies have proven less eager since three exploratory wells came up dry in 2012. Low oil prices and new opportunities in Mexico's...

There is a good reason liberal lawmakers and governors across the country are eager to pass laws allowing felons to vote. A recent study conducted by the Academy of Political and Social Sciences indicates that seven out of 10 convicts register as Democrats. The DFL-controlled Senate in Minnesota is leading the way with its recent passage of a bill allowing felons to vote while still on parole or probation. Proponents of changing the law are focused almost entirely on what they view as good for the felon rather than being concerned with the rights of law-abiding citizens. Proponents claim that allowing...

For an army of women, Mr Right is simply not there, no matter how hard they look for him. And the reason? When it comes to marriage, men are on strike. Why? Because the rewards are far less than they used to be, while the cost and dangers it presents are far greater. ‘Ultimately, men know there’s a good chance they’ll lose their friends, their respect, their space, their sex life, their money and — if it all goes wrong — their family,’ says Dr Helen Smith, author of Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood And The American Dream. ‘They...

Last week, the House Armed Services Committee voted 33-30 for an amendment to the fiscal 2016 National Defense Authorization Act that would encourage the Pentagon to affirm undocumented immigrants should be permitted to serve in the military. This week, more than two dozen conservative House Republicans are threatening to derail the must-pass legislation unless that language is removed. In a May 5 letter to Rules Chairman Pete Sessions, 25 GOP lawmakers have asked the Texas Republican to take out the amendment when his panel meets next week to set parameters for floor debate on the NDAA. The amendment in question,...

Oil prices hit 2015 peaks on Wednesday amid the first drawdown in U.S. crude inventories since January, before settling off their highs as investors and traders moved to take profits on a multi-week rally. The dollar's tumble had also fed the run-up in oil and other commodities, as those raw materials became more affordable for holders of the euro and other currencies. U.S. crude futures rallied more than $2 to the year's high of $62.58 a barrel, before settling just 53 cents higher at $60.93. Futures of North Sea Brent, the more widely-used benchmark, reached a 2015 peak of $69.63...

Nothing spells laughter like a dead terrorist, and leave it to my buddy comedian Evan Sayet to milk the hilarity for all it’s worth. You remember of course how on Sunday two Islamic bad guys attacked Pamela Geller’s defiant free speech event featuring cartoons of Muhammed; and how the two jihadis, dressed in body armor and carrying semi-automatic rifles, were gunned down by a Garland, Texas traffic cop with a pistol. Because… Texas. Well, The Daily Caller reports that Evan responded to the brutal police killing of these fine upstanding Mohammedan citizens with the following Tweet: “My favorite drawings at...

Russia's new Armata battle tank, which is set to officially debut in Moscow for the Victory Day parade on Saturday, May 9, appears to have broken down during a dress rehearsal on Thursday, according to reports from Russian media and a video of the parade from RuptlyTV. The rest of the parade continued while the Armata sat motionless. It appeared to be attached to a vehicle in front by a cord. Here it is from a little further out:

The New York Times appears to be openly losing patience with Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and her refusal to take any sort of questions from the political press corps. (RELATED: Liberal WaPo Columnist: ‘I’d Be Livid’ As A Reporter Covering Inaccessible Hillary) Times reporter Amy Chozick — no doubt irritated with constantly following Clinton from location to location without asking a single question — published a blog post Wednesday revealing what questions The Times would have asked if they had gotten the chance. “Since she declared her candidacy on April 12, Hillary Rodham Clinton has answered just seven questions...

After the mysterious death of suspect Freddie Gray, the Maryland state's attorney for Baltimore charged all six Baltimore police officers involved with his arrest and transport. The crimes ranging from "second-degree depraved-heart murder" to involuntary manslaughter, assault, misconduct in office and false imprisonment. Locals cheered her decision to charge all six. The charges followed three days of riots triggered by Gray's funeral and came almost immediately after the medical examiner filed his report calling Gray's death a "homicide." Now for the hard part. Not only will the charges be difficult to prove but three of those charged are black. The...

HOUSTON — Offshore platforms have a lot of hard-to-reach places, and a first-time exhibitor at the Offshore Technology Conference wants to use flying robots to make those tough corners more accessible. U.K.-based Sky-Futures has built a business using drones to inspect areas such as the underbelly of offshore platforms and burning flare stacks. The company’s co-founder and CEO James Harrison — who spent years working with information-gathering drones in Iraq and Afghanistan — said using the robots to do the inspection work makes it more efficient and safer. Historically, crews of workers inspecting those spots have had to dangle from...

Robert Spencer: Geert Wilders mentioned that the PEN Writers Association that was founded in order to defend the freedom of expression is giving an award to the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists — Pamela spoke about this as well — and that 145 of the members of PEN, including some very prominent writers — Joyce Carol Oates, who you may’ve heard of, and some others — have pulled out. Because they say that it is manifesting cultural arrogance. They said that the French manifested cultural arrogance in drawing Muhammad and allowing Charlie Hebdo to draw Muhammad. They don’t seem concerned about the...

Alexandria, VA – Today, the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) announced its endorsement of U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for the U.S. Senate in Florida where U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) is retiring. SCF President Ken Cuccinelli made the following statement: "We're proud to support Congressman Ron DeSantis for the Senate in Florida. He's a strong conservative, he has grassroots support, and he can win. If he is elected, he will stand up to the big spenders in both parties and fight to repeal Obamacare, balance the budget, and defend the Constitution. We hope conservatives in Florida and across the country...

Two jihadists were killed by a policeman guarding the contest site as they tried to storm the meeting and conduct a Charlie Hebdo-style massacre. There is a growing effort among the states to call an Article V convention that would craft new constitutional amendments in order to limit the federal government. Some presidential candidates are getting behind one or more of these efforts while others have yet to be asked. Under Article V of the Constitution, two-thirds (34) of the states have to pass similar resolutions in order for a convention to be called. This effort has reached a historic level as 27 states have now called for a balanced budget amendment convention. Additionally, Convention of States Project is calling for a convention that...

Every now and then those of us who follow the news closely will read, view or hear stories that seem separate and unconnected. But, as we think more about them, we make connections and establish a larger context. So it was for me last week. First came the alarming civil unrest in Baltimore. Within a couple of days, I read about a different kind of protest, this one in Texas The third story that got my attention came in the form of a report from the U.S. Department of Education detailing the results of the latest National Assessment of Educational...
