The company employs 750 people inside the corporate headquarters, but the airline has nearly 9,000 workers who are based in Phoenix. Depending on who you talk to, what will happen with those positions is unclear at this point. A source who works inside the company tells CBS 5 News he expects 80 percent to 90 percent of positions at the Tempe corporate headquarters to shift to American Airlines' headquarters in Fort Worth, TX.

FELIX ZULAUF: If The Stock Market Doesn't Correct Soon, Then We Could Repeat 1987 Sam RoFebruary 14, 2013GoldMoney Foundation via YouTube One of the most striking aspects of the current bull run in the U.S. stock market is the lack of a correction (e.g. 5 percent sell-off) in months. As stocks close in on new all-time highs, even the most bullish stock market bulls are worried about this. Swiss hedge fund manager Felix Zulauf is particularly concerned, and he warns if we don't get some sort of sell-off soon, we could see a crash. He spoke with King World News'...

The press is outraged. Why? Because the Roman Catholic Church might (once again) select as its pope someone who is actually Catholic, and who does not share the political sensibilities of The New York Times editorial board. The resignation of Benedict provides a hostile press the opportunity to rehash any problem that may have arisen in the hundreds of thousands of Catholic churches around the world — and to blame the Vatican for them all. The media’s current focus on abuse perpetrated by priests, the bulk of which occurred long before Benedict was pope, reveals a deep obsession with scandal and an...

During the 1940s, "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition" was a popular song of patriotism. Today's gun debate has stirred religious passions, too. You can learn a few things about religion and politics listening to flea market dealers in Indiana. For starters, sociologist Arthur Farnsley writes in his new book “Flea Market Jesus,” it is a political mistake of biblical proportions to write off all Christian fundamentalists as red-state, moral values Republicans. In in-depth interviews, Farnsley found among this fiercely independent group on the fringes of evangelical Protestantism an adherence to rugged individualism and distrust of institutions that left...

Our Valentine's Day tradition continues There are quite a few things in life that are more foolish and desperate than using the Dave Ramsey pickup lines to woo someone—taking an interest-only mortgage, going within 50 feet of a payday loan store, and buying lotto tickets, just to name a few. But while all of these actions are avoidable, February 14 is not. And if it’s Valentine’s Day, it must be time for Dave Ramsey … pickup lines, that is. So without further ado, here they are: the sixth-annual list of Dave Ramsey pickup lines. If I had a dollar for...

The pre-conclave era has its first bumper crop, unsolicited advice for the new pontiff and the Church. Following the laws of supply and demand, the value of this crop is diminished by its very abundance. As such, I am reticent to throw my golden nugget onto the pile of leaden advice, yet I must. I have no advice on what geographical region from whence the new Pope should ascend, nor do I care about the color of his skin. I don't know if charisma need be among his charisms. I would not presume to tell the future pontiff or the...

A comprehensive lawsuit charging government conspiracy and cover-up was filed Tuesday in the United States District Court Southern District of Texas Brownsville Division by the parents of murdered Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Jamie Zapata and Special Agent Victor Avila, Jr., against the government, straw purchasers, individual government officials, gun dealers and others deemed to share in responsibility per the complaint. Gun Rights Examiner has obtained copies of the Plaintiff’s Original Complaint and the related docket sheet. On first reading, the complaint appears to have the potential to uncover specifics about government-sanctioned “gunwalking” and those who authorized it beyond what...

As always happens when central planning is involved, when one tries to stop a leak here, two new leaks appear elsewhere. Because while the Homeowners Bill of Rights managed to grind foreclosure activity to a halt in California, what is happening elsewhere is the dreaded Boomerang Foreclosure phenomenon, or, said simply, redefaults. In other words, those homeowners who tried to take advantage of the most recent housing bubble mania created over the past year by the unholy trinity of the Fed (open-ended liquidity, REO-to-Rent programs, and $40 billion in monthly purchases of MBS), foreign buyers (who launder illicit money courtesy...

Catholic and non-Catholic moviegoers alike should be concerned about a new film that purports to document decades-old abuse scandals in the Catholic Church. Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God, created by HBO Productions, attempts to chronicle the Church’s response to the crimes of the notorious pedophile priest Lawrence Murphy, who is alleged to have abused dozens of innocent boys at St. John’s School for the Deaf in St. Francis, Wisconsin from the 1950s to the 1970s. The episode was the subject of a series of high-profile articles by the New York Times’ Laurie Goodstein during Lent of...

I just received a call from an organization called "Mayors against illegal guns" or some such. It was an attempt to call and get me to speak with my representative about how I wanted to support the recent legislation around 30 round magazine bans and universal background checks. I spent about 5 mins telling the caller why they were wrong and that these laws always ended in confiscation and enslavement of the citizens. To no avail and we eventually agreed to disagree and hung up. However, this tells me that there is a STRONG push to get people to influence...

NAFBPO rejects the President's proposal out of hand. It is unacceptable in that it contains not so much as a nod to immigration enforcement or a secure border. It is predicated upon administration claims that the border is secure now, or at least, secure enough. That claim is at best wishful thinking but is more likely willful misdirection of the public's opinion of the situation. A study of Border Patrol operations by the Government Accountability Office indicates that the Border Patrol is about 60% effective, a deplorable figure even if accurate. NAFBPO members maintain contacts with many field officers and...

(CNS) - The Cardinal Newman Society has confirmed that at least 12 Catholic colleges and universities will be hosting on-campus productions of the play The Vagina Monologues in 2013. That number is up from nine last year. Proceeds from performances at the University of San Francisco will support a group that advocates “reproductive justice” and homosexual rights. The V-Day organization reports that students at Marquette have plans for a performance benefiting Planned Parenthood. Catholic bishops and college presidents have pointed out that The V-Monologues distorts human sexuality and celebrates sinful behaviors, including lesbian activity and masturbation. One scene even declares...

Republican strategist Karl Rove huddled with a group of House GOP leaders in the office Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy Thursday morning to discuss the party's messaging efforts, Republicans familiar with the meeting said. Details of Rove's presentation to a group of McCarthy's "whip team" — a subset of the broader conference tasked with educating the rank and file, rounding up votes on key bills and generally enforcing discipline within Republican ranks. Following the meeting, several lawmakers could be heard instructing staff to setup meetings with Rove.

The past four years have seen a level of US government spending and debt unmatched outside of World War Two. The early 1980s period is the only contender. From 2009-2012, spending as a share of output averaged 24.4%. During that same period, annual budget deficits averaged 9.1% of GDP. From 1982-1985, federal spending averaged 22.9% of output, annual budget deficits 4.9%. Yet despite all that spending and debt, the US has actually been experiencing a period of sharp fiscal consolidation since the end of the Great Recession (reflected in the above chart). Economist Mike Darda of MKM Partners: Despite a...

He talked about “helping” to build “a thriving middle class,” but didn’t address how the middle class is actually faring under his economic stewardship. This is important – his deception must be addressed: under his leadership, middle class families have seen the average price per gallon of gas increase 96%, the average cost of family health care premiums rise 24%, the annual cost per household from federal regulations rise to over $15,000, and real median household income decline $4,520. If this is what happens when he “helps” the middle class, then please, Mr. President, we implore you to stop “helping”...

ROME, February 14, 2013 – On the evening of an unremarkable Thursday in Lent, at 8 p.m. on February 28, Joseph Ratzinger will take the step that none of his predecessors had dared to take. He will place upon the throne of Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Which another will be called to take up. There is the power of a revolution in this action that has no equal even in centuries long ago. From that point on, the Church enters into unknown territory. It will have to elect a new pope while his predecessor is...

Folks, don’t look now but the pieces of the Benghazi puzzle are starting to come together. Check out this video from Tom Trento – the same guy who interviewed John Guandolo last week about John Brennan’s alleged conversion to Islam. Before scoffing at the conversion, ask yourself if Brennan HAD converted to Islam, would he have had an interest in shipping weapons from Libya, to Turkey, then on to Syria to help the Brotherhood fight Bashar al-Assad? The answer to that question is an emphatic yes. “The threat of Islam is predicted all over the Bible, read and study Walid...
