Some big names in the hunting media and vending have stood up to the organizers of the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show. Following the tragic shooting in December at Sandy Hook School in Connecticut, and President Obama’s sweeping executive orders on gun violence, many states and organizations have themselves pushed for changes in certain gun and ammunition restrictions. Reed Exhibitions, organizers of the show in Pennsylvania, followed suit and imposed restrictions on the display of assault weapons and high capacity ammunition magazines. From their web site: “As a hunting-focused event, we welcome exhibitors who wish to showcase products and firearms...

Mike Olien has been planning his first trip to the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show for a year. His Texas-based company, MN Outdoors, planned the roll out for its new clip-on beverage holder when the show opens Feb. 2. MN specializes in duck decoys and hunting camera mounts. Its beverage holder isn't specifically designed for hunters. The company does not sell guns or gun accessories. But the Harrisburg show's new firearm policy has put Olien -- a "lifetime member of anything you can be a lifetime member of," an AR-15 owner and a strong gun control opponent -- in a...

Halfway through her rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" at President Barack Obama's inauguration on Monday, Beyonce dramatically did away with the earpiece that singers use to hear themselves and their bands in a live setting. One viewer likened it to the gutsy move Luke Skywalker made in the dramatic chase scene in the original "Star Wars," tweeting: "Taking out the earpiece is Luke turning off the targeting system in the Death Star trench." But now a rep for the United States Marine Band says Beyonce was not even singing the song live. She was lip-syncing. The rep said that...

4 criminal incidents: man arrested for forgery in Jaljuliya. As Israelis went to the polls on Tuesday, the Central Elections Committee announced that by 4 p.m., 46.6% of Israelis had voted, compared with 39.0% at the same point in 2006. The police reported that by late afternoon they had received approximately 350 reports about irregularities or possible voter fraud that they were investigating, but the day was generally free of major issues. Police only reported three criminal incidents. In the Arab town of Jaljuliya, next to Hod Hasharon, a man who was overseeing the polling at his station was arrested...

Back in December, I posted about an American pastor, Saeed Abedini, imprisoned and abused in Iran. The Revolutionary Guard seized him and held him in one of Iran’s most notorious prisons, accusing him of unspecified “national security” crimes. Before becoming an American citizen, Pastor Saeed converted from Islam to Christianity and had participated in Tehran’s very small house-church movement. Ordered to stop his work with the hous- church movement, he moved to Idaho but continued humanitarian work in Iran — most recently by raising money to build an orphanage. Last September, Iranian authorities raided his family home, ransacked it, and...

On Thursday, while looking wistfully back at Obama's first four years, NBC News accidentally did some actual reporting. In a First Read article that opened with the question, "Is the nation better off than it was four years ago," senior political director, Mark Murray, did something that neither he, nor NBC News, nor the mainstream media was willing to do during this last presidential campaign: report on Obama's record. But there it finally was: The Truth -- and from NBC News, no less. Poverty's up (from 43.6 million to 46.2 million), middle class incomes are down ($50k compared to $52k),...

Part I Although it does not reflect modern Librul thinking, the Second Amendment is co-equal with the rest of the Bill of Rights in guaranteeing the rights of a free people. Infringement of any part of the Bill of Rights can easily lead to infringement of all. Legal backgroundThe Second Amendment provides, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. (Emphasis added.) Nevertheless, the Senate's marginal note adjacent to the text of the Second Amendment states, Whether this provision protects the...

Not to be outdone, Barack Obama has used his second inaugural address to declare war on an even more nebulous threat to the security of the world: reality, itself. Here's how he put it in his inaugural address: (H/T Theo Spleenventer; Bishop Hill) "We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations. Some may still deny the overwhelming judgment of science, but none can avoid the devastating impact of raging fires, and crippling drought, and more powerful storms." The first sentence is a blatant untruth. Concerted...

An Immokalee man was arrested after calling 911 10 times, asking for a ride to Mexico, deputies say. Alvaro Francisco, 26, of the 100 block of Madison Avenue in Immokalee, was arrested just after midnight Saturday by Collier County sheriff’s deputies at his home after the 10th call to 911. He faces a misdemeanor charge of misuse of 911. Each time he called, the report stated, he said he needed a ride to Mexico, his friend’s house or his boss’s house. Each time he was advised, according to the report, that those requests are not an emergency and do not...

The real stupidity of this entire business starts to sink in when people start to grasp the realities of the basic M4/M16/AR15 rile. The M16 is a simpler weapon than an M14 or a FAL rifle. The ONLY thing about an M16 which is even a tiny bit difficult to manufacture is the barrel. Unlike a FAL rifle whose upper receiver has to take the stress of firing and which has to be hard forged and whose barrel is fitted to the receiver with something like 130 ft-lbs of torque, the only thing which takes any stress in an M16...

Yesterday during his second Inaugural Address Barack Obama promised to blow billions of taxpayer dollars on more global warming junk science projects. After all, his donors have to get paid. Eighty percent of Obama’s green energy “investments” his first term went to committed donors. Much of the money was lost. During his first term over 19 of Obama’s green ventures went belly-up after receiving billions of dollars. But that won’t stop him from committing more of your cash to this failed cause. Yesterday, James Delingpole at The Telegraph tossed cold water on Obama’s reckless statements on climate change.

“"A right unexercised is a right lost!" Motto of OpenCarry.org OpenCarry.org was founded by Virginians John Pierce and Mike Stollenwerk in 2004. It's primary goal is encouraging the right to openly carry holstered handguns. It is the social networking headquarters of the open carry movement. They are working hard to end the intentional hoplophobic (fear of weapons) discrimination perpetrated against law abiding gun owners. These grassroots activist planted the seeds in 2004 and activism has sprouted across the nation. Alabama Open Carry (AOC) is leading the charge to "Dare Defend Our Rights". AOC is a grassroots effort to educate Alabama...

Yesterday was a historic day. Sure we had presidential inauguration but it was also perhaps the first and only day when loudmouth MSNBC host Chris Matthews actually shut his mouth for a few seconds. The cat that got Matthews’s tongue was being reminded by fellow MSNBC host Martin Bashir of his inane 2008 remark that he gets a “thrill going up my leg” when hearing Barack Obama speak. Watch below for the video. The joke at the former Democratic operative’s expense happened during a post-inaugural panel on MSNBC which was predictably stacked with all liberal participants. Matthews was joined by...

HOUSTON -- Ninety-three-year-old Elbert Wood came home from a doctor’s appointment Monday morning to find his home burglarized and vandalized with spray paint. The World War II hero pointed to the furniture, walls, windows, paintings and TV, now tagged with graffiti. “I never heard of anything like this before," Wood said. If he’d been home when the crooks broke in, Wood said, “I’d have tried to kill ‘em.” Two of the suspects were caught just down the street with red paint on their hands, spray can caps in their pockets and stuff stolen from Wood’s home. One teen admitted to...

The country that invented Nazism sets up national gun registry Something very instructive just happened in Germany. Germany just implemented "a vast registry that details every legal gun owner in the country, along with information about all of their firearms." They did this, based on records that, in some cases, "were kept on index cards across what used to be 551 separate local registries." Thus, with everyone's name already on an index card (read: 4473 forms) in what was effectively a "universal background check," it was a small step to a national gun registry. Not surprisingly, "gun rights groups" in...

This just in: Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and "the Evil Empire" didn't make it to the Super Bowl. OK, maybe you're up on the latest postseason news. But you might have missed the latest on the Pro Football Hall of Fame, where Brady will reside when it's all said and done. Ditto Belichick. Not all of the former players and contributors who were recently named to the Hall's list of finalists are that cut and dried. Take one of the headliners: Michael Strahan. Great player? No doubt. First-ballot Hall of Famer? We'll get to that.

Groupon has canceled, at least temporarily, all of its scheduled and ongoing gun-related promotions, Matt Brownell at Aol Daily Finance reported. “All scheduled and current gun-related deals featured on Groupon North America, including shooting ranges, conceal-and-carry and clay shooting, have been placed on hiatus while we review internal standards that shape the deal inventory we feature,” a Groupon spokesperson told Daily Finance. “The category is under review following recent consumer and merchant feedback.” Michael Cargill, the owner of a gun shop in Texas, said that his Groupon deal — for a concealed handgun training course — was canceled and that...

Last week someone from FR posted up a link showing all the gun crime/murders and how it was happening in most cities run by dems. Anyone have that article or know what publication it came from? I would like to have it to prove a point to a liberal fool I work with. Not that it'll do any good as he's already far beyond brainwashing. Thanks in advance...
