On July 4, the tea party will dust off the tri-corn hats and head into the streets to fight the second revolutionary war against “Obamacare.” Tea party organizers tell TPM that the movement is planning a big Independence Day push in response to the Supreme Court ruling in favor of President Obama’s health care reform bill. The decision ruling the law constitutional — and the surprising vote of Chief Justice John Roberts in the majority — has breathed new life into the tea party, members say. But the tea party is also growing up. And that’s one of the reasons...

The transition from June to July will be delayed by circumstances beyond everyone's control. Time will stand still for one second on Saturday evening (June 30) because a "leap second" will be added to let a lagging Earth catch up to super-accurate clocks. International Atomic Time is a very accurate and stable time scale. It is a weighted average of the time kept by about 200 atomic clocks in over 50 national laboratories worldwide. Atomic time is measured through vibrations of atoms in a metal isotope that resembles mercury and can keep time to within a tenth of a billionth...

America is in the throes of a presidential campaign that presents real hope for the future of America (Romney) versus the same-old, same-old (Obama). While it appears right now that Obama and his socialist policies will lose in November, America will still be faced with many problems that have crept into society in the past fifty years. While America has many liberal-caused problems, let's examine just three of them: welfare, race relations, and education. Welfare: In his State of the Union address on January 8, 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson declared "war on poverty." Johnson's speech led Congress to pass...

According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll: " more than half of all registered voters - 53 percent - said they were more likely to vote for their member of Congress if he were running on a platform of repealing the law, up from 46 percent before the ruling." Ruling ups support for Obama healthcare, still unpopular By Patricia Zengerle. Reuters, Jul 1, 2012 _____________ "Before you look to do harm to Chief Justice Roberts or his family, it’s important that you think carefully about the meaning – the true nature — of his ruling on Obama-care. The Left will shout that...

Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson announced his intention on Friday to give $10 million to political action committees controlled by Charles and David Koch who in turn are themselves giving substantial sums to unseat President Obama and turn control of the Senate back to the Republican Party. Adelson's intentions are to give upwards of $100 million in support of conservative causes. He explained: What scares me is the continuation of the socialist-style economy we've been experiencing for almost four years. That scares me because the redistribution of wealth is the path to more socialism, and to more of the...

During her appearance on Fox News, Palin added that she expects presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to make good on his promise to repeal Obamacare if he elected in November. "First on the list of priorities must be repealing and replacing Obamacare with something that makes more sense," she said. Earlier that day Romney had slammed the Supreme Court ruling, re-affirming his promise to help repeal the health care law as president. "Obamacare raises taxes on the American people by approximately $500 billion. Obamacare cuts Medicare - cuts Medicare by approximately $500 billion. And even with those cuts and...

The Supreme Court’s ruling that states cannot be penalized if they refuse to expand Medicaid under the federal health care overhaul has left an opening for legislators who have assailed the health care act as a crippling budget-buster. Legislators in many states, from tiny New Hampshire to Texas, say they are inclined to resist the expansion of Medicaid that is intended to provide coverage for 17 million uninsured people. Before the high court’s decision on Thursday, states that did not comply had been threatened with the loss of all federal Medicaid funds, which have covered an average of 57 percent...

(Reuters) - A U.S. drone aircraft killed eight suspected Islamist militants in northwest Pakistan on Sunday, security officials said. A drone missile struck a house in the Shawal Valley where militants were reported to be hiding in the North Waziristan tribal region near the Afghan border. "Two missiles were fired on a house. Eight militants were killed," said a local intelligence official. The drone attacks, which fuel anti-American sentiment in Pakistan because they can kill civilians and are seen as a violation of sovereignty, are one of several factors straining ties between strategic allies Washington and Islamabad.

Russia's RAC MiG will mark the 35th anniversary of the then Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter's first flight in early October, but with the company actively pursuing fresh orders for its latest-generation versions of the design, the event will not be a nostalgic one. The MiG-29's success since entering service with the Russian air force in 1983 is underscored by its widespread use today. Almost 800 of the lightweight combat aircraft remain in the inventories of 24 nations in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, according to Flightglobal's MiliCAS database. It ranked fifth in our World Air Forces directory's...

Additionally, as some others have noted, this author hates Obama more than Rush Limbaugh. He makes Obama out to be such a ridiculous character who worked with the KGB in his youth! The weakest parts of the book are the author's feeble attempts to portray Obama as some communist spy or some rubbish. It's a shame when someone has an axe to grind that overwhelms everything else they have to say...and that is certainly the case with this book.

Da Rats get upset when you call the Affordable Care Act Obamacare. Not Obama. Check out the title on the linked video pre-produced for the moment John Roberts surprised us all. Obama promised in 2008, everyone will be taken care of better, and it will cost less for everyone. And now in the linked video, Obama says about 13 million Americans will receive a rebate because the insurance companies make too much money. Maybe the rebate will be enough to pay for the 7 new taxes being implemented. From Forbes: http://tinyurl.com/ocare-tax 1.The Individual Mandate Excise Tax 2.The Over-The-Counter Drugs Trap...

Who will capture American women’s hearts and help President Obama or Governor Romney win the Presidency next November? This is the question that the two major parties and their political analysts try to answer every four years. Should we appeal to them as soccer moms? Working mothers who need broader benefits? Waitresses who are single parents? What do we say about abortion? Economic equality with men? A century ago, this was the dream of American suffragists who hoped that newly-enfranchised women would be decisive in affecting electoral politics. But it wasn’t until 1980, when Ronald Reagan ran for President, that...

On Thursday, the U.S. Department of Commerce released a report chock full of weak growth figures and worrisome economic signals. The gross domestic product (GDP) dropped from last quarter's 3.0 percent to an anemic 1.9 percent. Over half of first-quarter growth came from automobile sales. When automobiles are removed from the calculation, the GDP grew at just 0.7 percent. Second-quarter growth estimates of 2.0 percent growth, therefore, may be overly optimistic. From Reuters: The government lowered its previous forecasts for consumer spending and export growth, suggesting the economy had a bit less momentum as it entered the second quarter than...
