(Reuters) - A U.S. drone aircraft killed eight suspected Islamist militants in northwest Pakistan on Sunday, security officials said.

A drone missile struck a house in the Shawal Valley where militants were reported to be hiding in the North Waziristan tribal region near the Afghan border.

"Two missiles were fired on a house. Eight militants were killed," said a local intelligence official.

The drone attacks, which fuel anti-American sentiment in Pakistan because they can kill civilians and are seen as a violation of sovereignty, are one of several factors straining ties between strategic allies Washington and Islamabad.

All well and good. But islamists kill islamists constantly.

I don’t believe that the so-called President has American interests primarily in mind.

"The drone attacks, which fuel anti-American sentiment in Pakistan because they can kill civilians"

It is well known that this area of Pakistan is virtually a free fire zone. Anyone in the zone is considered a terrorist or terrorist sympathizer.

Note that the press no longer reports civilian deaths in these areas of Pakistan. There aren't any.

Do we now include their Miranda rights on the missiles?

I support these strikes, but I find it revealing that the Liberals and Lefties that were so worked up about the treatment of our enemies during the Bush administration (abu Ghraib and Gitmo) are now nearly 100% silent. Their situational ethics is very useful for their cynical partisanship. They’ve never met a principle they couldn’t espouse and then abandon for political gain.

Bingo! You are exactly right. Th selective outrage of the left reveals they're not so opposed to the treatment of terrorists as they are opposed to what the right does to eliminate them as a threat.

Yet another reason why liberals are insane.

I’m skeptical. This is uncharacteristic of Obama in light of how he’s handled Libya, Egypt, etc.. I’m thinking the age old practice of drone strikes in Pakistan is practice for here in the United States.

” I’m thinking the age old practice of drone strikes in Pakistan is practice for here in the United States.”

And, the lame stream media won’t be reporting any civilian deaths as a result of those drone strikes either.

“A drone strike today in downtown Birmingham, Alabama killed 12 suspected right-wing militia members (as identified by the Department of Homeland Security, memo# 437554-a). No other fatalities were reported.”
