Joe Wilson, congressman, argued that Joe Wilson, chucklehead, should not be formally rebuked. It would be a waste of time, he asserted on the House floor where, six days earlier, he had committed his conduct most unbecoming. Other Republicans stepped up to the microphone to agree that this was a distraction from the important things they could be doing. (Like stepping up their effort to kill President Obama’s attempt to provide health care for the have-nots in society?) “When we are done here today,” said the man who accused the president of lying, “we will not have taken any steps...

It shows itself in attacks against each and every act. It started with a nagging feeling in my stomach as I watched media coverage of people screaming at so-called town-hall meetings that were purportedly about health-care policy. Seeing that some of those people came armed with handguns - and were allowed to join a public gathering where the president of the United States was speaking - didn't help. And when South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson yelled "you lie!" at President Obama as he addressed a joint session of Congress, I reached my personal tipping point. So I have decided it's...

It is day five of our CNN.com ACORN Watch. The Hippo's Ass has been monitoring the CNN web site for the past few days looking for any indication they are aware of the astonishing events surrounding the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. According to CNN.com's own search engine, the last time CNN wrote a story about ACORN was September 10, 2009 1 Day before the Obama Administration fired ACORN from their Census collection program. 2 Days before a third video (this time in New York) surfaced showing workers giving questionable advice to filmakers posing as a pimp and...

I have thought about this question since the evening news with helmet head on NBC. Dowd tried to make a case for racism by Rep Wilson with an outright Lie. Then Helmet head kept fanning the smoldering embers with the current holder of the title Worst President of the United States, Jimmah Carter. Blithly, helmet head asked JC if the comment Liar was a Racist Comment. Carter never missed a beat, he saw a chance to secure his title as the Worst President and even gain the title of Worst X-President. NBC seems to be fomenting the Charlie Manson view...

.... Plans for a monument on Parliament Hill to honour the estimated 100 million or so innocent men, women and children killed at the hands of Communist regimes around the world, on the other hand, have hit a snag, with the NCC worried that a "Memorial to the Victims of Totalitarian Communism" risks giving offence to communists. At a public meeting last week in Ottawa, members of the NCC's board approved the plans for a monument "in principle," allowing that the submitted application for the memorial "largely meets" the commission's criteria for a public exhibit on capital land. But several...

Jane Fonda expresses regret over film fest protest Cassandra Szklarski, The Canadian Press Jane Fonda is expressing regret over endorsing a protest letter that targets an Israeli film spotlight at the Toronto International Film Festival. The celebrity activist appears to back away from the controversy in a column posted Monday on the Huffington Post website just as big-name performers including Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Portman and Sacha Baron Cohen added their names to a growing list of the protest's critics. "I signed the letter without reading it carefully enough, without asking myself if some of the wording wouldn't exacerbate the situation...

Jeld-Wen factory to closeBy Janet Jacobs Jeld-Wen officials have confirmed the company is closing the Corsicana window factory by Sept. 25, putting about 90 full-time employees out of work. The workers learned of the closure on Monday. The window and patio door factory, located at 4000 E. Highway 31, has been in Corsicana since 1984. “The biggest factor in this closure is a reduced demand for windows in both the new construction and remodeling markets,” said Rick Hetherington, senior vice president for Jeld-Wen. “With nationwide new home starts hovering at their lowest levels in 30 years, closing the Corsicana plant...

President George W. Bush's former speechwriter Matt Latimer reveals that Bush considered Barack Obama unfit for the White House and predicted that vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin would be a disaster for the GOP. "After one of Obama's blistering speeches against the administration, the president had a very human reaction: He was ticked off," Latimer writes in his forthcoming book, "Speech-Less: Tales of a White House Survivor," which has been excerpted in the October issue of GQ. "He came in one day to rehearse a speech, fuming. 'This is a dangerous world,' he said for no apparent reason, 'and this...

Tens, maybe hundreds, of thousands of angry Americans stormed Washington last weekend to oppose ObamaCare and government spending.

How'd Democrats react? By redoubling efforts to pass "health-care reform" -- dissent be damned.

True, Dems may pay a price if they succeed. But so will the nation -- in terms of a sapped economic recovery, further job losses, lower-quality, rationed health care and, of course, monster taxes.

Some might believe that we have reached a culmination of sorts for the financial crisis that began in 2008 and that from here things are going to get better. This study draws the opposite conclusion. The bail, rescue and print formula being employed by the federal government and central bank today is simply a continuation of policies that brought about the crisis in the first place. Only now, as you are about to read, they are being conducted on a far grander scale. The repercussions, I might add, are likely to arrive on a far grander scale as well......The numbers...
