Jeld-Wen officials have confirmed the company is closing the Corsicana window factory by Sept. 25, putting about 90 full-time employees out of work. The workers learned of the closure on Monday.

The window and patio door factory, located at 4000 E. Highway 31, has been in Corsicana since 1984.

“The biggest factor in this closure is a reduced demand for windows in both the new construction and remodeling markets,” said Rick Hetherington, senior vice president for Jeld-Wen. “With nationwide new home starts hovering at their lowest levels in 30 years, closing the Corsicana plant became a necessary but very difficult business decision.”

Actually, "Cope and Change" sounds brilliant. I'm going in for an interview with the State today. I'm an unemployed Civil Engineer (12 years Geotechnical Engineering), and I'm hoping to catch on with the State. Pray that I give a good interview. "Cope and Change" is what I'm trying to do.

This is happening all over the industry. Here in Reno a very large extrusion plant just closed. They made window profiles. Overhead Door closed their plant here also about three months ago.

That is horrible. Bennie say recession is over ( not by definition) two consecutive quarters of growth. I see the Malls full. Outback steak House with a line getting in. Car Dealers with more customers than salespeople. ( What a wonderful dream)

I’m sorry to hear this Bender. Losing a factory with 90 jobs has a big impact on a small town. Our biz is holding on by a thread. I’m still looking for a second job to help support my publishing habit of 30 years. ;o)
