Fred Cusick, the radio and television voice of the Boston Bruins for more than four decades, died Tuesday, his family said. He was 90. Cusick's son, Ted, said his father died at his Barnstable, Mass., home after suffering from cancer. Cusick's death came one day before he was scheduled to be inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Cusick began his career with radio broadcasts of the Bruins in 1952. He moved to television in 1971 and retired from calling games in 1997. Cusick called Boston's Stanley Cup championship in 1970, one of the city's most famous sports moments...

ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Univision (no Fox, natch), plus who knows? Maybe they’ll squeeze in an appearance on the Food Network, to talk about how important it is to have health insurance in case you accidentally put...

See Video at link (CBS) ACORN calls itself the nation's largest grassroots community organization, with more than 400,000 members. It helps low-income Americans find affordable housing and it receives tens of millions in government funding. But, as CBS News correspondent Cynthia Bowers reports, that may be coming to an end, thanks to undercover videos that have sparked a huge scandal. The videos reportedly recorded late July and early August appear to show ACORN employees in several big cities including Baltimore, Washington and New York, advising a couple posing as a pimp and prostitute. The employees are heard telling the couple...

KENT, Wash. - A military wife and her hockey friends are working to help homesick soldiers enjoy the “coolest game on Earth” in one of the hottest places - in the desert of Afghanistan. Brenda and Rob Mason of Kent have a solid marriage built on the slippery ice of a hockey rink. The love affair for each other, and the game goes back nearly 30 years to their second date. "He took me to a hockey game. He said if we’re going to be together, you’re going to have to like hockey. And I did," says Brenda. But for...

A team of taxpayer-supported lawyers arguing on behalf of President Obama's eligibility to occupy the Oval Office say not even the U.S. Supreme Court has any input into the question at this point, and such cases should be barred from the courts. "The Constitution's commitment to the Electoral College of the responsibility to select the president includes the authority to decide whether a presidential candidate is qualified for office," said a brief filed by government lawyers in a California lawsuit over Obama's eligibility under the Constitution's demand for a "natural born citizen" in the White House. That's because, the brief...

Jimmy Carter: Wilson Comments 'Based on Racism' ASSOCIATED PRESS September 15, 2009 ATLANTA (AP) -- Former President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst to President Barack Obama during a speech to Congress last week was an act ''based on racism'' and rooted in fears of a black president. ''I think it's based on racism,'' Carter said at a town hall held at his presidential center in Atlanta. ''There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president.'' The Georgia Democrat said the outburst was a part of a disturbing...

Here is video of Dennis Miller on The O'Reilly Factor where he commented on ACORN and Kanye West. Dennis Miller jabbed Charlie Gibson for not knowing anything about the whole ACORN scandal, mentioning how he had given Palin a hard time about the "Bush Doctrine." O'Reilly said he has suggested to the Maryland authorities not to prosecute James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles for doing the undercover video in Baltimore. He warned there will be thousands protesting if they try to do so. . . . (VIDEO)

Barack Hussein Obama is president of the United States of America. As such, he is due the respect that the highest office of the land commands. Spew rumors, falsehoods and outright lies about his policies, about his birth place, about his intentions. That's freedom of speech. Attack his wife's clothing choices, his children's pet, his mother-in-law's room in the White House. He is a public figure, and this is America. And by all means question his health care agenda, the stimulus spending and his increasing the number of troops in Afghanistan. That's government of the people, by the people.

For a few years now, I have been stating that there is no political savior, no silver bullet and no government agency that was going to save the United States of America from the heavy hand of federal tyranny wrapped around the throat of every American citizen, namely American taxpayers. See: The Theory is Now a Conspiracy—I As it was in the beginning, so shall it be today. It is the average American, not the powerful politician, or the Ivy League elitist, or even the so-called “eyes and ears of the people,” the press, who must rise up by the...

We have never wavered in our support for our soldiers … and right now our soldiers in Afghanistan need our help. Tomorrow (Wednesday) The Vets for Freedom, which led the charge for the surge in Iraq, will launch a petition drive urging the President to give the Generals the additional troops they have requested for Afghanistan.

For months during last year’s presidential race, conservatives sought to tar the Obama campaign with accusations of voter fraud and other transgressions by the national community organizing group Acorn, which had done some work for the campaign. But it took amateur actors, posing as a prostitute and a pimp and recorded on hidden cameras in visits to Acorn offices, to send government officials scrambling in recent days to sever ties with the organization. Conservative advocates and broadcasters were gleeful about the success of the tactics in exposing Acorn workers, who appeared to blithely encourage prostitution and tax evasion. It was,...

Communists and socialists have never been closer to taking over the United States and they know this is no time for timidity. Ignoring popular opinion is part of the game plan, as is marginalizing any opposition. It worked for three massive spending bills and it will work again. Some Democrats may lose their seats, but taking a hit for the party is a call to duty they will answer. Besides, as long as they control Congress post 2010, Democrats will control redistricting as a consequence of the census and the lost seats may be regained in 2012."

Johnny Bolton claims all it took was a one-car garage, a tape measure and a welding torch. “And a lot of thinking,” Bolton said. Regardless, the Louisiana man is driving around in a truck he spent eight months building from spare parts. It may not be pretty, but it’s road-safe and Bolton can get around without having to worry about making a car payment every month. Bolton used Ford axles, a Chevrolet bed and an Oldsmobile engine, all placed on a 1949 International frame. He's nicknamed it the "Mississippi River Rat." Bolton, who works in the power plant at Hercules...

Here is a video report on the re-election trouble Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is facing in Nevada in 2010. Two Republicans are vying to be able to run against Reid next year, where it appears from polls he is very vulnerable. There is a sense he has neglected the needs of Nevada while he has been busy pushing for Obama's agenda in Washington - an agenda many in Nevada do not support. . . . (VIDEO)

"Revenue Reduction" — those are words that strike fear into the hearts of municipal bureaucrats and politicians across Indiana. And the immediate and fervent response is to leave no stone unturned in the search for more money for government to spend. But it’s time — long past time actually — to recognize that the right and better course of action is for taxpayers to keep a great deal more of their money (i.e., their property). It goes to the heart of the fiduciary duty of elected officials.
