Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Sunday sharply criticized the Obama administration’s decision to investigate the abuse of prisoners held by the Central Intelligence Agency as he delivered a forceful defense of the full range of interrogation techniques used by intelligence officers. Broadcast just six days after Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. appointed a federal prosecutor to examine the abuse of detainees, Mr. Cheney described the use of waterboarding and other coercive methods — including threatening detainees with a gun and a drill — as legal and crucial elements of the counterterrorism war. “I knew about the waterboarding, not...

A small, scruffy, unincorporated area largely surrounded by the city of Antioch is home to more than 100 sex offenders. It's also where Phillip Garrido allegedly held Jaycee Lee Dugard for 18 years.Dawn Cordy always knew her neighborhood was an easy place to hide -- a semi-rural San Francisco suburb where housing is cheap, sheriff's cruisers rarely appear, residents don't snoop and registered sex offenders have found a refuge. It's a small, scruffy, unincorporated island largely surrounded by the hard-knock city of Antioch, a region synonymous with the foreclosure crisis in the Bay Area but now linked to yet another...

Diane Watson is a racist Congressional Representative from California’s 33rd District, in Los Angeles. Just over a year ago, she chastised Ward Connerly for his having the nerve to wed a white woman. She’s telling us now that the only opponents of Barack Obama and his move to socialize America are those who object to socialism because, in her words, “[Barack is] the first President who looks like me.” In the same breath, she sings the praises of Marxist murderer Che Guevara and Marxist murderer Fidel Castro (who ousted Che). Hear it for yourself: Fact of the Day: Rep. Diane...

‘Somebody in the state dept is bent on arming Pakistan’ Josy Joseph / DNA Islamabad’s illegal modification of Harpoon missiles for attack against land targets in India is symbolic of Pakistan military’s obsession with India. But Indian military sources say, the worse is the continuing American military assistance to Pakistan in the name of terrorism that in reality is arming its military for a conventional war against India. “It is a matter of finer nuance (if Harpoon has been modified). But what we are worried about, and what we have been repeatedly telling the Americans, is that all the systems...

By the time this year's tally for gay service members discharged under the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy had hit 250, Rep. Alcee L. Hastings said he could wait no longer. The Florida Democrat decided in June to send a letter to President Obama demanding that the policy be repealed. Mr. Hastings said he was surprised when 76 other members - most of them fellow Democrats - agreed to add their signatures, and even more surprised when the letter went unanswered for the next two months. "We're being ignored," he said. The president won't be able to ignore the...

A letter to the president says local enforcement of federal immigration laws has led to racial profiling and civil rights violations.A coalition of advocacy groups sent a letter to President Obama last week demanding that the administration end a program that allows local police to enforce federal immigration law. The program, known as 287(g), deputizes police to turn over suspects or criminals to immigration authorities for possible deportation. Immigrant rights groups said the program has led to civil rights violations and racial profiling. "Racial profiling and other civil rights abuses by the local law enforcement agencies that have sought out...

When an opponent declares, "I will not come over to your side," I calmly say, "Your child belongs to us already. . . . What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community." – Adolph Hitler As usual, the United Nations. is doing its part to destroy out kids and our families. Welcome to the brave new world. Wake up parents. Fox news reports: The U.N.’s Economic, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) released a 98-page report in June offering a...

This is the brainchild of a friend of mine, Katy H, in Kerrville, TX. It's great! I believe that the majority of Americans are good, hard-working people. For too long we've been silent because we were going about our business raising our families and making the country work. Now everything that we've worked for all our lives as well as our inalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution are being stolen from us by the current Administration and Congress. It's time to DO something! Do you remember the movie, "Miracle on 34th Street?" Do you remember the scene where a man...

Given the media's love for ObamaCare, you probably never expected to see this kind of a headline: Police: Health Care Reform Used as NY Crime Ploy Impossible? Well, as hard as it might be to believe, there it was late Saturday evening, from the Associated Press no less: Police say attackers used health care reform as a ruse to approach their victims and then shot two and pistol-whipped another in a Long Island home. Suffolk County police said Saturday that a 26-year-old woman was arrested on attempted murder and burglary charges in the attack Friday in Huntington. Two men were...

THE OBAMA administration and other advocates of comprehensive health reform knew that August was going to be a perilous month. It's turned out to be disastrous. As lawmakers return to work and President Obama ends his vacation, the health reform enterprise is in rough shape. So what is the proper course of treatment? One approach would be to scale back the scope and cost of reform -- spending perhaps $600 billion to $700 billion over the next decade instead of the $1 trillion now under discussion. This would do less harm fiscally. But the interconnectedness of the health-care system makes...

Here is video of Actor Jon Voight appearing on the Mike Huckabee show and saying "we are witnessing the takeover of our true freedoms." Voight said he wanted to speak out against ObamaCare. Voight said "We are becoming a Socialist nation." He also said "Obama is causing civil unrest in this country." Voight said Obama seems to have made passing ObamaCare a "personal crusade." Though Obama says "this isn't about me," Voight says it is obvious it is about him, and he is determined to pass ObamaCare "no matter the outcry." Voight hammered Obama for playing the "God Card," referring...

Five years ago, with the country at peace, traditional taboos easing and Western donors pushing for women to participate in democracy, millions of Afghan women eagerly registered and then voted for a presidential candidate. In a few districts, female turnout was even higher than male turnout. But on Aug. 20, when Afghans again went to the polls to choose a president, that heady season of political emancipation seemed long gone. This time, election monitors and women's activists said, a combination of fear, tradition, apathy and poor planning conspired to deprive many Afghan women of rights they had only recently begun...

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, a popular American comedy duo during the 1940s and 50s, performed a number crowd pleasing skits. Even today, their "Who’s On First" skit is still well known. Another of their famous skits, "Union Loafers", would probably be considered 'politically incorrect' by today's far-left activists. Nonetheless, the humor of this comedic routine seems to be an appropriate reminder since looming on the horizon is the "card check" scheme to end private unionization ballots. In this one, Abbott gets a loafing job at a bakery and Costello can’t understand that he gets paid for it. Video: Union...

Voters in the West African state of Gabon went to the polls yesterday to elect a successor to Omar Bongo, who ruled the tiny oil-rich country as a personal fiefdom for more than four decades. President Bongo, who was Africa’s longest-serving ruler, died in June. He was one of the last of Africa’s so-called “Big Man” rulers, men such as Zaire’s Mobutu Sese Seko and Kenya’s Daniel arap Moi, whose presence dominated every aspect of life in their countries. Every banknote carried their picture, every building their portrait, streets and airports their names. Anacle Bissielo, the country’s Development Minister and...
