BRITAIN'S row with Iran deepened last night after the Tehran government threatened to put British Embassy staff on trial. The Muslim clerics who call the shots in Iran accuse local workers at the embassy of fanning the anti-government protests which followed last month's disputed election. Foreign Secretary David Miliband said he was urgently trying to speak to his counterpart in Tehran over the legal threat to the staff. Earlier, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, head of Iran's powerful Guardian Council, claimed embassy workers had confessed to involvement in the protests. Jannati said: "In these events, their embassy had a presence. "Some people...

Notable Quotables Flashback: Ten Months of Media Scorn for Sarah Palin By Rich Noyes Created 2009-07-04 11:23 In announcing that she was stepping down as Alaska Governor on Friday, Sarah Palin noted the unrelenting hostility of liberal media elites. In the barely ten months since she burst onto the national scene, Palin has been scorned and mocked by journalists -- including many supposedly objective reporters -- like few other politicians. Here are a few of the choicer attacks, as compiled from MRC's Notable Quotables [1] newsletter: "She is a far-right conservative who supported Pat Buchanan over George W. Bush in...

Several people have asked me to shoot a new Kevlar helmet. My old buddy Ponyboy finally found a couple and sent them to me to test. Before we start, let me explain that we are not conducting "scientifically valid" tests on these brain buckets. It is my understanding that the military requires these helmets to withstand a round of 5.56 Ball at 200 yards. I am not certain of all the parameters, but it doesn't really matter, because I will not be repeating their tests. They already do that one and the helmets passed. We'll do something different. Helmets are...

In my last column, "Under Obamacare, where will Canadians go for medical services?," I highlighted Gun Owners of America's (GOA's) opposition on privacy grounds to President Obama's obsession with nationalizing of health services in America. Noting that mainstream privacy experts are also alarmed at the Obama administration's "damn the torpedoes" attitude to impose statist policy mandates at whatever the cost to privacy, I called for an unholy alliance of gun owners and privacy advocates to take action to stop Obamacare now before it becomes a social and economic entanglement that would literally sink America as a great power and eliminate...

Sarah Palin's resignation as Governor of Alaska is a brilliant liberating move for her career, and a potential turning point for the national conservative movement. The biggest problem with her responsibility as Governor of Alaska is that the state is so far away from the rest of America. No one hears of the good work she has been doing there, and the left is free to paint their own false caricature of her. ... I am hoping she spends two weeks of every month now touring the states doing fundraisers for a the sweeping Republican revival in 2010 that is...

Biden on Saddam: 'That S.O.B. is rolling over in his grave' @ 11:19 am by Michael O'Brien Vice President Biden took a shot at the deceased former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein during a trip to Iraq this weekend, saying Hussein would be "rolling over in his grave" at the naturalization ceremony held in one of his palaces on Saturday. Biden oversaw a ceremony for members of the armed services to be sworn in as American citizens as part of his weekend-long trip to Iraq. "We did it in Saddam's Palace and I can think of nothing better than," Biden said...

On July 4, 1776, America’s founding fathers signed their names to the Declaration of Independence in an effort to affirm basic liberties. But they never dreamed that anyone would someday attempt to strip the American people of the fundamental liberty to control what we eat and drink. In the spirit of affirming this simple freedom, we offer our Declaration of Food Independence. Because, as we’re telling Arizona Daily Star readers today, the pursuit of happiness is a lot harder on an empty stomach.

Instead of showing some respect to our country this Four of July weekend, American Muslims are gathering in locations to give us the Islam means peace con and shove Islam down our throats. Approximately 30,000 Muslims are expected in Washington today in an "outreach" effort by the ISNA and about 1500 Muslims are gathering in Dearborn Michigan.

When my daughter came to me and told me her friends on Facebook were saying horrible things about Sarah Palin, I told her to get back online and ask them specifically why they were calling Sarah Palin names. Not one of them replied—they had no answer. They don’t know why they hate her, but they just do. Sarah Palin did nothing wrong to these people, or to the rest of the United States. If she had a ‘D’ after her name, she’d be hailed a hero in the mainstream media. However, just because she stands for what’s right in America,...

But, but, but Capitalism is the root of all evil isn't it? Rare North Korean TV Ad: Drink Beer to ‘Help With Stress’ In an apparent first, North Korea — a country that struggles to feed its 24 million people — has aired a beer commercial on state television. The advertisement, which lasted nearly three minutes after a news program on Thursday, showed a grinning Korean man with sweat on his face holding a glass of beer, with a caption that read, "Taedong River Beer is the pride of Pyongyang." The commercial said the beer relieves stress and improves health...

Two hundred and thirty-three years ago, our founders celebrated the birth of a new country. This weekend, some of us, inspired by their example, will once again take to the streets to plead with our elected leaders to listen to the people in a time of crisis. Most of us, however, will not. America has turned into Amehrica, land of the freaks and home of the blasé. It’s not that nothing seems to faze us anymore; it’s that nothing of importance seems to even register with large chunks of the populace. Who cares if we’re offering platitudes about the best...

Have you ever wondered why Americans drink coffee and British tea? In 1773 the Boston Tea Party went down in history as a revolt against the unfair taxes, fines and fees of King George. Secret meetings were held throughout churches in the New World seeking the wisdom of God and discussing strategies to throw off the unrestrained thievery of liberty from Britain and its cronies. The colonist believed that something had to be done and there came a time when our Founding Fathers said enough. It is said that history often repeats itself. Are we getting close to that time...

s Obama Defending Zelaya's Attempted Coup in Honduras Because He's Planning the Same in the U.S.? June 30, 2009 (LPAC) - American statesman Lyndon LaRouche today asked if President Barack Obama's support for last week's attempted coup d'etat by former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya, is a reflection of Obama's own plans to try something similar in the United States. "All indications are that that is the case," LaRouche asserted. "Obama is betraying the mentality of a fascist dictator. Is he headed for a dictatorship? The pattern points in that direction. He is driving feverishly to impose Nazi health reforms on...

They gathered, young and old, black, white and hispanic. They wore spirited clothes, with bold patriotic words on the front. They held signs, they cheered, they jeered, they made their voices heard. An eyeball guestimate of between 3,500 and 4,500 people showed up at the Houston Tea Party Society's "Declare Your Independence" Rally and Celebration yesterday afternoon at Discovery Green in Downtown Houston. Even the stifling heat streaming rivulets of sweat could not dampen the enthusiasm of this crowd. They came from all over to attend.

After a disputed election and crackdown on protesters, the Iranian president maybe be feted in some anti-U.S. corners, but he faces slights and snubs from other nations. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev publicly greeted Ahmadinejad at a recent meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, but did not grant him a private meeting as he had the leaders of Pakistan and Afghanistan. In Belarus, the Iranian leader was met not by President Alexander Lukashenko, but by the speaker of the upper house of parliament. A similar pattern has emerged in the Middle East, where Arab regimes have long been wary of Iran's...
