Maybe it seems like old news not worth revisiting. But the more I see Bill Clinton congratulating himself over his "military victory" in Kosovo, the more it reminds me that this entire operation began as little more than a diversion from his latest political scandal. This wasn't a humanitarian relief mission, folks. It was the latest in a series of wag-the-dog attacks directed by the war criminal in the White House. If you have any doubts, let's just review the facts: On Aug. 17, 1998, Clinton went on national television to offer an explanation-cum-apology for his deposition that day ...

A month or so back, my interest in the Kosovo "campaign" caused me to read the Kansas City Star more closely than usual. In so doing, I came across this headline. JUDGE REBUKES SCHOOL BOARD QUIT POLITICKING HE TELLS MEMBERS Intrigued, I read the article and here's what I learned. The judge in question is Federal District Court Judge, Dean Whipple. The District he rebuked is Kansas City, Missouri, now in its 22nd year of submission to federal authority. As to when the District's puppet school board would finally be allowed to "politick"--the very thing such deliberative bodies are elected ...

CINCINNATI ---- No bloodshed, no gunfire, no screams. Yet when Matt Hale, a Butler County deputy sheriff, was on patrol in Liberty Township, just north of here, and saw the little boy crouched on the ground in 90-degree sun, he sensed something was wrong. So the deputy stopped his car and approached the boy--Aaron Faughn, 9. He asked the boy if he was OK, and when the boy looked up the deputy didn't need to hear any words to know the answer. The child was distraught. Here is what had happened: Aaron wanted to earn some money to buy some ...

LONDON, ENGLAND (NB) -- By Steve Gold, Newsbytes. A report just out from International Monitoring, a high-tech consultancy firm in London, says that its research has shown that all US imports will be badly hit by the Y2K problem. Nick Gogerty of the company told Newsbytes that the firm's research has concluded that, along with a 15-day delay in all types of product shipments as a direct result of the Y2K problem, the Y2K issue is also likely to cause multiple and major problems for IT systems. "Our calculations, which are conservative, show that around 10 percent of IT systems ...

CACAK, Yugoslavia (AP) -- Serb discontent with President Slobodan Milosevic and his regime boiled over into a sprawling opposition rally Tuesday, as 10,000 chanting protesters demanded a new government for Yugoslavia. In Kosovo, meanwhile, ethnic Albanian rebels gathered at NATO-designated assembly points and began handing in weapons under a demilitarization deal with international peacekeepers. The rally in the central Serbian town of Cacak was organized by Yugoslavia's main pro-democracy coalition, the Alliance for Change. It was seen as a first test of whether Serbia's fragmented opposition can exploit public discontent with Milosevic's rule to press for reforms. ``Our demand ...

By Adam Entous WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Fearing a backlash from big business, the White House and congressional leaders Tuesday agreed to enact compromise legislation that would protect companies against lawsuits stemming from year 2000 computer problems. Consumer advocates who opposed the bill accused President Clinton and Vice President Al Gore, the Democratic front-runner in the 2000 presidential election, of giving in to corporate interests at the expense of American consumers. The agreement, hammered out behind-closed doors by congressional negotiators and the White House, will delay the filing of Y2K lawsuits for up to 90 days, giving high-tech and other types ...

Last month, I landed at a refugee camp in Macedonia called Stenkovac I. There, on a hot and dusty former airfield, tens of thousands of refugees, forced from their homes in Kosovo by the cruel tyranny of Slobodan Milosevic, were struggling to hold onto the merest shreds of human dignity. Every refugee I met had been separated from a loved one -- mothers from their children, husbands from their wives. Every single person hoped to go home. I promised them that the United States would not turn its back -- that we would make it happen. This week, I ...

DVD fans get 'The Matrix' (Launch) - In the latest example of DVD format superiority and the lingering aftershocks of the Columbine High shootings, Warner Bros. has decided to nix plans to mount a video "sell-though" of the studio's megahit "The Matrix." Instead of making an estimated $50 million by selling an affordable video version of the movie, Warner hopes to keep "The Matrix" out of the hands of kids - and avoid the ire of scapegoat-hunting conservative groups - by selling "The Matrix" at a low price only on DVD, a format embraced mostly by older film aficionados with ...

Judicial Watch intends to challenge Mrs. Clinton for having traveled in recent months at public expense between Washington and the state of New York, the source said. How to Succeed In Art Applications to art schools are at a record high. Which may explain why art these days looks a lot like homework. By DEBORAH SOLOMON Photographs by GEORGE LANGE hris Burden began his career with a literal bang. His "Shooting Piece" required a friend to fire a bullet into his left arm from a distance of 15 feet. Perhaps that's why, when we recently met at the University of California at Los Angeles, I found it hard to imagine him patiently sitting through faculty meetings. Time does strange things. You wait long enough and even the ...

Expect the unexpected, advises John Koskinen, the federal government's point man on the Year 2000 computer problem. But he can't say for sure what will happen when the clock strikes midnight on Dec. 31. "If anybody tells you today that they know what Jan. 1 will look like, they're guessing,'' Koskinen said yesterday. Koskinen, director of President Clinton's Council on Year 2000 Conversion, participated yesterday in the Central Ohio Y2K Community Forum at the Riffe Center as part of a 22-state tour this summer to brief communities. Koskinen has headed up the nation's response to the Y2K problem since ...

- BOSTON (AP) -- As a basketball player for the New York Knicks, Bill Bradley wasn't a popular figure in this sports-crazy home of the arch-rival Celtics. But as a Democratic candidate for president, Bradley attracted more than 200 supporters at a fund-raiser here, swelling his campaign coffers by $200,000. Helping to pave the way was a legendary Celtic, John Havlicek, who played against Bradley on the basketball court but is now on the same campaign team. ``I told him years ago, if he ever does it, I'll be there,'' Havlicek said. ``Bill's been a friend for a long ...

NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) - Hillary Rodham Clinton is reportedly using the White House communications director and two staffers working for Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle to help prepare a Web site for the July 6 launch of her Senate exploratory committee. A White House spokesman and an aide for Daschle tell the New York Post it is legal for the government employees to help with the first lady's campaign as long as they put in a 40-hour week for their main jobs. The Post reports the Hillary 2000 site is not open to the public yet, although ...

We hear a lot today about how Johnny can't read, how he can't write, and the trouble he is having finding France on a map. It is also true that Johnny is having difficulty distinguishing right from wrong. Along with illiteracy and innumeracy, we must add deep moral confusion to the list of educational problems. Increasingly, today's young people know little or nothing about the Western moral tradition. This was recently demonstrated by Tonight Show host Jay Leno. Leno frequently does "man-on-the-street" interviews, and one night he collared some young people to ask them questions about the Bible. "Can ...

1) ABC and NBC focused on Medicare beneficiaries, not taxpayers. ABC's John Cochran hit the Clinton plan from the left, arguing it doesn't transfer enough money to the recipients. 2) Katie Couric endorsed Clinton's plan: "It sounds like a no- brainer. Seniors spend billions of dollars on prescription drugs every year, often putting them in terrible financial situations." 3) FNC's Carl Cameron surprised the Energy Dept. counter- intelligence chief with information. Cameron also uniquely revealed a probe at Defense for abuse of a whistleblower. 4) NBC's Lisa Myers reported that "Starr does not yet appear to be closing shop" ...

The Left hates God, believes in evolution, and Big Government. Basically, the Left believes in man. The Right loves God, believes in Creation, and places trust and faith in the God and his word. Both of these groups have a radically different views on how government should be used, and to what extent. The Left sees no problems with expanding government. The Right believes that government must be greatly limited if people are to have freedom. A persons political views are based on his value system. His value system is based upon his religious beliefs, or lack thereof. The ...

A group of parents concerned about changes in the middle-school math curriculum repeatedly has been slapped down by the Plano Independent School District. In the Plano public schools, such antagonism toward parents is typical, but if a nonprofit legal foundation from San Antonio has its say in the matter, the Plano public schools finally may have to acknowledge parents' rights. During the past two years, the Plano I.S.D. has used a curriculum based on Dale Seymour Publications' Connected Mathematics textbooks in several middle schools. Called a pilot program, the test really has run on autopilot, neither soliciting nor welcoming input ...
